Quick blast up these 2 hills with AJL on a cold and snowy May day. My original plan had been to do the Annochs but the weather further west was horrible and so a quick dander on these 2 Munros was a good option. Felt quite fit and enjoyed the near whiteout conditions on fhe top of the 2nd hill. Managed to yomp down a snow slope on the way back which was helpful but very very wet and a bit cold when we got back to the carslynch04/05/2013

Pat doubted my sense of direction when leaving the summit and heading for the col between Geal Charn and A’Mharconaich, but I was spot on. As we dropped below the cloud we got good but brief views of Loch Ericht and Loch Pattack beyond. We had a chilly stop for lunch on the col. A veritable motorway of a track comes up from Allt Coire Fhar and heads over the col. We set off up the shoulder and contouring upwards towards A’Mharaconich. Clearly, we cut this corner quite a bit as the summit cairn was gained soon after gaining the ridge skyline. We left the summit heading due north and then down the northeast ridge and spur back towards Balsporran Cottage. We passed a couple of estate workers repairing bridges, presumably for grouse shoots – tomorrow was the Glorious Twelfth.langskill11/08/1997

Rounded head of corrie to Beinn Udlamain. Continued to A'Mharconaich, then picked a line across to regain ridge out to Geal Charn. Continued NE to have a look at the then substantial cairns. Down to Balsporran & then a long slow pload back up to the car. (Again in reverse on 27/8/03 with Shaky.)NotReallyABagger30/04/1989

Pinnacle Club meet based at Milehouse. I was there as the guest of a member. We left the car near the summit of Drumochter Pass and went by and up Coire Dhomhain to ascend steep snow (step kicking) to reach the NNW ridge of Sgairneach Mhór. We went on to Beinn Udlamain, A’ Mharconaich, and Geal Charn. Descent to Balsporran Cottages and hence along the road to the car. Some mist but it was mostly clear. Mild with soft snow.pwbellarby25/02/1984

With: sj lw; From Balsporran Cottages we climbed up NE ridge of Geal Charn then followed the ridge around on to A'Mharconaich. From here a long SW ridge led to Beinn Udlamain. We descended back N to pick up the track back to Balsporran Cottages.Ian Baines25/06/1980
Cairngorm Club meet. With the President’s party. Started at Balsporran Cottages and went up the NE becoming N ridge of A’ Mharconaich. The upper part was quite steep. We came to a cairn, but this was not the summit. This lay about another 400m to the SSW. We reached the summit where there is another cairn. Continued to Beinn Udlamain. Note added subsequently: The summit of A’ Mharconaich was the summit according to the grid reference given in Munro’s Tables 1974 edition. The next edition of Munro’s Tables was the 1980 edition although it was not actually published until 1981. This gives the summit of A’ Mharconaich as at the first cairn that we passed.pwbellarby17/05/1980
