I did the Beinn a' Ghlo group of hills today, with Alex McBride, from the nice new car park at Loch Moraig near Blair Atholl. This is a repeat for us both, but we included a new Munro Top for me, which I had missed previously.

1) Carn Liath (975m), a Munro
2) Bràigh Coire Chruinn-bhalgain (1070m), a Munro
3) Càrn nan Gabhar (1121m), a Munro
4) Airgiod Bheinn (1061m), a Munro Top

I didn't fancy the long walk out on tired legs, also Carn Liath was in cloud on approach, so opted to do the circuit of Airgiod Bheinn and the three Beinn A' Ghlo Munros anti-clockwise. It turned out to be a good choice. | TRG318 | 28/07/2022 |

With TMD. We walked the Beinn a’ Ghlò range. Firstly climbing Càrn Liath (975m) before continuing to Bràigh Coire Chruinn-bhalgain (1070m), then climbing to Airgiod Bheinn (1061m) before finally reaching the ultimate summit of the range at Càrn nan Gabhar, at 1129 metres. From the last summit there is no easy way back, so we dropped very steeply down the side of the mountain to Loch Loch to see the RAF Hercules XV 193 crash site, before making the long walk back through the valley on the track. | meltdiceburg | 02/06/2017 |

After Carn Liath. Great ridge walking but the drop in height was more than expected. | mindlessflogger | 30/05/2016 |
This trio of hills present a significant walking challenge which we discovered was a running challenge for many. The guide recommended climbing the closest first. We selected to reverse the order to offer and increasing incentive to complete the trip. After walking the rough track we turned off at the cairn marking the beginnings of a well worn track across the heather leading to a steep ascent via a stoney ridge Airgiod Bheinn which leads on to the col and the summit ridge beyond leading to Carn nan Gabhar with its trig point and 1 metre higher summit cairn, beyond. Moving back, contouring round to the col to Braigh Coire Chruinn-Bhalgain which was achieved with a steep initial ascent followed by a finely graded sigmoid ridge to the Carn Liath with airy views across the rolling surrounding countryside. The well graded descent helped the legs cope with the last miles of this tremendous walk made better by favourable weather conditions. | david.walker40 | 15/05/2016 |

solo hike over the Beinn a' Ghlo group from just north of loch Moraig over Carn Liath, BCCB, Carn nan Gabhar and Airgiod Bheinn. This day felt like one slice of bread of a Colorado 14'er sandwhich as I was going out to California for a week followed by 4 days in Colorado in which on 13th Sept, I climbed highest peak of Continental divide Grays Pk 14,270 promptly getting high altitude major headache from transferring from sea level day before. Unwise!! Chose to fly from Glasgow as it's same distance as London from York specifically so I could grab some Munros either side of the trip. Oss and Dubhcraig on the 18th. From Old Bridge of Tilt to Balaneasie then SE over Fender Burn and E up Carn Liath along twisting ridge in rain with strong cold wind from S got to summit and made mistake of sitting on boulder yards from summit was shivering within 5 mins - decided to get off quick and quick look at map showed follow ridge short distance NE then down NW ridge best option to keep wind behind me. Warmed up on way down and even found bridge over the Tilt not on map - Just had 14km walk back to car down the Tilt | celticrambler | 14/06/2002 |
Solo. From Monzie road end. Followed the track and then path up the SE ridge of Carn Liath to reach the summit. Followed the obvious route to Bràigh Coire Chruinn-Bhalgain and continued to Airgiod Bheinn and Carn nan Gabhar, the highest point of Beinn a’ Ghlo (1129m). The highest point is NE of the trig point, which has height 1120m. Descended to the south and then went SW to join the outward path. Weather was good, but cold with a strong north wind. On Beinn a Ghlo' from Loch Moraig day. This Munro must be one of the most complex- so many corries... Simon and I did this walk. We met up at Blair Atholl. I think he came down from Inverness and I got the train from Edinburgh. I missed the train and was late. We then spent the evening walking up Glen Tilt and camped on the edge of the snow in Simon's tent. I forgot tea bags so tried to make blaeberry tea!. It was pretty cold but I think the next day the sun was out and we got good views from the tops as we walked back over the tops to Blair Atholl. | Victor | 17/10/1993 |
