| Direct-ish but brutal, OK for thin persons. Parking on grass verge in front of gates of Fairburn House (NH457531). SW along driveway, then took 1st track (grassy) on L, down to T junction, R, then 2nd L to bridge, on to locked gate at NH452523. W 100m to wooden gate, L, into woods, continuing W until could link up to higher track going E until hit fence just E of Stronacroe. Directly up faint path SW, to old 2m deer fence - gap between end and new deer fence. Around perimeter of new deer fence and very steeply up to ominous crag - just enough room to squeeze between fence and crag (fence acts as a safety net). Started ascending TR, SW, from big solitary tree (look for it on the way back). Miles of new deer fence in view, no signs of any gates-through, so back same way (better the devil you know). | Isbjorn | 26/02/2022 |
| 2 of 2: From Cul Beag. We then returned to the col and used a bulldozed track from the gate in the new fence at 454511. This led down to a padlocked gate at 461516. There was another padlocked gate on the way to the tarmac at 469514. We then passed the Falls of Orrin turn off before reaching the road at Aultgowrie. Note the Falls CP has been removed. | Titchy but tough. Parked bike besides old, unused deer fence gate besides the track south of the Fairburn bridge, then zig-zagged my way up through the, largely open, forest until NE of the summit. Came out onto a bracken-clad field and a new deer-fence that impeded travel along the marked footpath running along the eastern flank of the hill. So went straight up, bracken giving way to heather, which provided helpful grip on the steepest section. The summit crown itself was much more pleasant and affords great views in all directions. | Followed forest tracks from Fairburn outdoor centre. Climbed hill from north but this was pretty steep with deep heather, worse with recent rains. Descended to east, much kinder gradient. Recommend climb from stalkers' path to east. | willyross | 05/11/2019 |

| Parked at NH47473 51453 (by Aultgowrie), where there's a car park for a river walk. Followed the tarmac road to an electric fence 'gate', where a pony track goes into the hill. Followed this up through head high bracken and around the east side of the hill, thankfully bracken free at this stage. Left the track to ascend from the south, up short heather.
