Just off the Woodland Trust circular walk.summitter28/07/2023
An unplanned walk up to Whinney Hill and Knockour Hill after finding there was a nice path up from Balloch Castle. A nice little summit here. With Alma Aurea /Dmeltdiceburg30/04/2023
From the waterworks via the mast and an initially muddy track and the elegant path to the summit and bench looking over Loch Lomond.Nick Down127/11/2022
As others from the Waterworks.Andrew Simmons18/10/2022
Parked by water treatment plant to west. Followed track to mast and up small track in woods to summit (bench with great view nearby). Part way we came across a well made path which comes from Balloch Country Park and passes by both tump summits!sarahk18/09/2022
Near path with bench in woods of larch mountain ash birch. Parked by waterworks in layby. Initially thrashed through trees and bracken til found path!onto trig through bracken.Denise 10/09/2021
A tump, a castle, a trig, a hump and a deleted tump from water works on first day after lockdown.lordtonult16/04/2021
After the Whiny Hill, took the West path up. Before reaching the top I went and found the trig point which is about 500 yards west throughout woodland and over a fence.JAdair9716/03/2021
Not miserable - saw family of three pine martens near summitcmac17/06/2020
From Whinney Hill, retracing our steps back to NS40021 84756, where a clear track (muddy in places) leads to the summit of Knockour Hill. Good views out to Inchmurrin.LizH01/02/2020
From waterworks along track NNW then through woods. Went on to trig which was less accessible. Nearly gralloched myself on a wooden stake when crossing deer fence only to find a gate just near the trig. Carried on to Whinney Hill on good track.sclater27/01/2020
From the waterworks. Pleasant forest walking on paths, except for when we searched for the trig. With B and R.jenx23/09/2019
Hils' route is spot on. Mast, grassy track then pick up new mown track to seat at summit.NormanW26/06/2017
From waterworks, Blairlinnans Hill first. Fairly awkward woodland when approaching from the E with plenty of felled trees; also crossed a deer fence twice, needed have done either looking at the map! Top has a track running nearby and a bench seat approx 6m to NE. On to the trig pillar then Whinney Hill.jonglew02/06/2017
Not miserable today, from Country Park via Whinny Hillhillsman18/05/2017

From Balloch Castle - Whinney Hill and Mount Misery.RobertP01/04/2017
From waterworks, easy parking. Track left at mast, then track to summit, seat, and viewpoint. Track continues to Balloch castle, I'm told. Local walkers offering drink and shortbread at the seat. Best hill in a long while. Calm, cold, some sun, good views.iangalbraith01/01/2017
Parked on the water works road, no signs not to do so and nowhere to park on the main road. Up track to a mast on the left, then there is a path from there all the way to the summit area. Take your pick where the highest point is....hils11/01/2016
From Whinney hill followed track and then footpath to Knockour. Views limited by surrounding forestry.neimcv31/10/2015
Cycled from last housing below country road. Left bike on track below summit, forest bash up from track, climbed unmarked deer fence then through bracken to summit clearing and bench.Kevin2903530/06/2015
Considerable struggle going from the trig to the sw, then through the forest even having to squeeze through a narrow gap in a deer fence. eventually found another path that led to the summit and a surprise welcome seat with a view down north over loch Lomond and down on Inchmurrin where I'd spent the afternoon.vegibagger24/05/2015
clockwise round of whinney hill, knockour hill, and blairlinnans strip from the water works.robertphillips30/01/2015
Followed Whinny (sic) Hill circular from Balloch Castle Country Park leaflet. Very windy, tree had come down across the path in Fairy Glen last night! Path continues from Whinny Hill across an open space to summit with seat and viewpoint. Path does not go to trig point so missed that. Had to return via top of Whinny Hill but no obvious shortcuts!citygent21/10/2014
from Balloch train station and back in 2 hours. Just head through the grounds of Balloch castle, past the castle until you get to the burn. Turn right uphill, cross the public road and follow the way marked track up through the wood. As the wood is full of windblown timber the key is to allow yourself to descend slightly NW until the path reappears and easy tramp to the summit when the open fields appear. On the way down there are obvious shortcuts. BRING WELLIES - very muddy.Thearlaichdubh12/01/2014
Parked at water treatment works, track to mast, follow edge of wood to path (not on maps, but is a way-marked trail) to summit.Minto21/10/2012
Path goes from the public road end at NS391838(parking on verge for narrow car - or at Balloch Castle). From turning circle enter wood and keep right after 30m. After c 15mins path meets vehicle track - dogleg L then R. Path goes on to summit near seat.jimbloomer26/08/2011
Approached via trig over very rough ground, dense undergrowth and deer fence. Much easier to come via the forest walk by which I returned if not combining with the trig point.andy19/06/2011
Parked at Balloch Country Park. Followed track and path near or along the east boundary. Crossed the road where it becomes private. Still snow and ice in the wood. Took a wrong turning on re-entering WH wood. Got back to path at the top of WH.chrisbien13/03/2010
Bashed up to trig from t-mobile tower and then followed the deer fence to the summit, including having to scale the fence. Imagine my surprise upon hitting the top to find a pleasant waymarked path which wasn't on my map!campagvelocet26/11/2008
Sensible parking at Balloch Castle, then follow Whinnyhill path to top. Trig a few hundres metres SW.agentmancuso09/03/2008
