Too windy for Lochnagar SMHC February 2019 Sunday walkLizzieG17/02/2019

From Mill of Sterin, following my nose up the forest tracks, just by taking the branches going up hill. Nose following required using a 1:25K map, because it is wrong. The 1:50K map shows the tracks correctly, and also shows the wooden hut just past the second gate. The right hand track after this gate (before the hut) leads to a wide grassy area, head up this, keeping to the edge of the trees, and a path is found leading to the mini bealach below the hill, turn right to the big cairn, then follow a grassy path to the top. Much more direct than it seems.Gill10/09/2018
A couple of impressive cairns and two tops that seem to be roughly the same height.summitter21/07/2018
Mountain bike from Ballater to forest gates just past Sterinbeg on minor road to NE of top. Pushed bike to highest point of road then threaded through old forestry rubbish to meet a path coming from N. Easy walk to top and superb mountain bike ride all the way down.trimarc217/05/2018

Evening walk from Mill of Sterin. Via forest tracks zig zag upwards. Up obvious firebreak onto ridge and both summits. Nice viewpoint in darkening skies.... ticks everywhere :(N.Morters10/07/2017
Parked at NO349928. Ascended on tracks to NO335914, then up ridge to cairn and onwards to summit.raffemeister12/12/2016
From minor road at no 346 935, with mora my dog.some of forest tracks are not in use and well overgrown.BLACKHILL30/06/2016
Visited both tops, each with a cairn. The one to the SW with the small cairn is supposed to be the higher, but my GPS only read 598, whereas at the base of the large cairn it read 602. I'm confused!NormanW13/06/2016
From Glen GirnockJA15/03/2016
Up Glen Girnock, river crossing - easy under normal conditions, then up onto Meall Dubh. Followed by The Coyles of Muick, Craig of Loinmuie. Then down ridge on reasonable path, over Carn a Bhealaidh, Creag Liath. Left path to go over Tom an Lagain and onto Craig Phiobaidh, descent down to road at Littlemill.clashcityrocker06/02/2016
With Jenx, from estate roads through woodland. At top track direct up through scrubby land to summit. Big cairn and what looked like main top nearby.nordicstar23/10/2015

Parked at 346926 and followed lovely winding tracks up through the forest to the observation shelter 800m NW of summit at forest edge. Then a grand ascent up the path to the most impressive cairn. A 4.5 star MarilynThearlaichdubh10/09/2014

On forest roads from Birkhallneimcv26/09/2013
From Birkhall, NO 34617 93550, if you follow the endless highway, forest track really, it takes you up to a swanky looking hut between the two Hawaii 5-0s or whatever 5H stands for. I went over M Dubh on way up and C of Loinmuie on way down. Last night's rain meant snow and ice up there. Pity about the ugly pile of stones near the summit. No need to wade rivers, either.Martin R25/11/2012
Solo, from NO 327 889. Nothing like a good river crossing to start a walk on a cold November morning!amswanston09/11/2012

With a friend. After climbing Conachraig from Spittal of Glen Muick , we headed NE and over Craig Megen to the Coyles of Muick and then over Meall Dubh. We took the track from near Tom an Lagain through the forest to where we had left a car.pwbellarby01/04/2001
