Grassy path from the Grey Mare's Tail CP. At its high point we switched to a narrow path running parallel to the Goat fence. Over said fence, met the goats, summited and returned the reverse route.summitter27/01/2023
P Grey Mare's Tail, track to col then stretch of vegetation along deer fence. A nice summit for my 600th Yeaman. Headed down NW towards ruin, along track for a look at Black Loch then back along Old Edinburgh Road to approach Big Doon from the NW.agentmancuso20/08/2021
From Grey Mare's Tail CP (NX 4908 7204). Good track leads up, just before it starts to descent followed the deer fence, crossing it at a gate. Then direct to top.jonglew18/02/2021
Parking by Blackloch. Ascent by western end of the loch.Adrian21/10/2020
Parked in the monument/forest walk car park to the west of the hill. Crossed the road bridge and took the path up the east side of the burn to it's high point, leaving the path just after the end of the bracken. Followed the goat park fence past a padlocked gate. Summit is inside the fence, and a good viewpoint.LizH12/07/2020
2nd of 4 tumps on a linear route from the Deer Range visitor centre to Machermore castle, climbing Brockloch hill then after checking out the other knolls, descent to a grassy track with an out and back to a waterfall then over a burn onto a track then up through new plantings to walk beside fence then over and direct to sunmit reaching North knoll first and then the true summit. Fantastic views today in glorious sunshine. Descent to Grey Mares tail waterfalls. Immpressive! Some road walking followed before heading off for Bar...Dazingdale06/10/2018

Pick our way fairly easily up the clear felled NW slope with Goat/Deer fence to cross. Grass/moss/heather summit with good views down valley. A few tame wild goats around. Descend by thin path down the W shoulder though still have a fence to cross.RichardM26/03/2018
