From Startfell plantation track then hill path to high point then up the heathery slope, rain starting… soggy long walk down to Crosby and a bus back to Douglas. 4/4 | N.Morters | 16/03/2024 |
6.7 mile walk from the new walkers car park on the B10. Along the ROW to the trig on Slieau Ruy, then we headed back via trails over Colden and pathless but not too bad terrain over Slieau Maggle. 393m ascent. These were the last hills of the day. Earlier we bagged Carn Gerjoil and re-bagged Snaefell. Light cloud with far-reaching views. Saw 2 other walkers about. | DanTrig | 16/10/2023 |
After Slieau Ruy, vague path up but very rough descent towards Slieau Maggle. Second visit. | Colin Crawford | 03/09/2023 |
Good big car park on B10 at the track end, N of the hill. Followed the track, leaving it at the 2nd gate at the bend, then followed the path to its highest point, and off on short heather to the summit. Returned more directly towards the gate over rough ground - bad idea! On to Slieau Maggle. | LizH | 21/07/2023 |
bus to Crosby, walked north to col SW of Colden, then up to summit. Long pleasant plod! After, on to Slieau Freoaghane and down to Kirk Michael. | IanHHill | 14/10/2022 |
Traverse from Sulby to Crosby on clear sunny weather. No path on this one, rather a tedious heather plod up and down plus bog to the col to north. Summit rocks not quite at HP per Abney. | Denise | 27/09/2022 |
Slieau Maggle, Colden & Slieau Ruybfromnthe car park at Sartfell Plantation. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 08/05/2022 |
With CM from 342866. South on good path before heading to the summit from directly west. North to the Tump. | bolton | 08/12/2021 |
Was an exceptionally bracing day plodding around the high IoM tops with Jon. Fine visibility around the whole island which is all you can ask for at this time of the year. | Alex C | 06/12/2021 |
Same parking for Slieau Freoaghane. Good track going south, then peeled off at the 410m contour over asy heather. Picked up Slieau Maggle on the return. | jonglew | 06/12/2021 |
From the N. Easy parking alongside start of track SC 3427 8662 - Along track to bend at 341853 - Left on RoW for about 350m & then up over fairly short heather & grass to the summit cairn & shortened telegraph pole. Made use of some handy sheep trods. (S) | gerrybowes | 03/08/2021 |
Cycled up the good track to gate on the south. Ascended from NE path over marshy ground. Descend on dryer route to NW track picking up good bridleway on NW side. | Eddie | 17/09/2019 |
Easy walk along track from north. Shortish heather once way from track. With B and R. | jenx | 12/08/2019 |
Walk up Colden starting at the West Baldwin reservoir car park. Up through the woods, then follow the forestry track up to the stile. Duckboards to a little stone bridge then struck up through the heather up the eroded corrie wall (?). Difficult going with the undergrowth and no path - walking poles were helpful. Sheep tracks were a distraction! Once at the top, followed a path to a small cairn at the summit. Back down via a small gully. | Jonnyiom | 22/06/2019 |

5th tump of 10 on a 35.4km route from Braaid to Laxey, climbing The Mount, Slieau Chiarn, Archallagan Hill and Slieau Ruy, continuing on the broad ridge over Lhargee Ruy to then climb over a series of steep folds (caused by streams) to reach the summit, recording 492m @ SC 34340 84325. I continued North to reach a junction of paths before heading NE to Slieau Maggle... | Dazingdale | 20/07/2018 |
1/3. From North. Okay to drive along track for 1km to the path junction. | PGCE | 27/09/2017 |

Approached from the north. No view due to low cloud. Met Campbell Singer on path by my parking spot during my descent. | assynt_bob | 04/08/2015 |
Met assent-bob shortly after starting off. He was on his way back after an early start. From the north along bridle way and up easy close cropped heather slopes to misty flat summit. | Campbell Singer | 04/08/2015 |
Started at the Governer's Loch's Road (Greenway) and made may way to the foot of the hill and then picked my way up the hill. No clear path really just avoided the rougher bits. Summit has stone cairn and wooden orienteering marker post. | dreeder75 | 03/08/2015 |
From B10, good track then faint path to summit, visited a number of potential points other then obvious. | rhalstead | 04/05/2015 |
Manx Mountain Marathon | Joolz500 | 01/01/2015 |
Geoff M6PYG and I activated this summit after GD/GD-002 Slieu Freoaghane. Started off on a good track then had to cross large areas of heather to get to the summit. Ideal for HF activations with good post to fix hf dipole pole. | G4OOE | 08/10/2013 |
From Sartfell Plantation - Slieau Ruy, Colden and Slieau Maggle. Windy, with mae. | jimbloomer | 16/04/2013 |

There are currently 820 Humps in IOM, E and W. This is my 819th! Typical grouse moor on the end of a bridleway. | Martin R | 05/09/2011 |
From the north. Followed track then through heather. can avoid most of it. Cairn seems the highest but there are other contenders. Had a good wander around. | destaylor | 29/07/2009 |
5th of 10 summits visited on a scorching day. Parked at 34988 86261 but could have saved 2 km of walking by driving to 34160 85425. Visited 3 other spots that looked as high as the cairn at SC 34341 84323 | signyred | 30/06/2009 |
from main road - least attractive hill in man due to heavy heather on top | gigglejon | 24/10/2007 |
