Boat trip on the Shona gave me this Hump at last, after an abortive visit in 2015. Enjoyable enough but the phenomenon of three Stevenson lighthouses in close proximity was rather more interesting | Colin Crawford | 01/09/2023 |
Pleasant trip out on 'Shona'. Walked on track to the lighthouses, then a bit beyond on a wide track, then paths through the bracken to the summit. Time for a pleasant walk around the island before the boat back (3hr landing). | LizH | 19/07/2023 |
From the South Harbour to the East Top first then across to here mainly through bracken and heather. Dropped down tothe 3 lighthouses, then on to Burroo before recovery by the Scraayl (Calf of Man Boat Trips) back to Port St Mary. | jonglew | 24/09/2022 |
From East top over thick heather and some paths. HP has cairn and wild shelter and slabs- in heather. Superb clear views of Ireland and UK coast. Continued to the three lighthouses on the west coast and then to Burroo. With Steve Clague from Port St Mary. | Denise | 24/09/2022 |
Revisit, then the 3 lighthouses en route to Burroo. | RHW | 24/09/2022 |
Staying at the bird observatory for a week's kayaking. | AndyS | 25/06/2022 |
Absolutely delightful island and I almost didn't make it as I had to change between boat operators at the very last minute due to adverse conditions. | Alex C | 19/06/2022 |
Through heather from upper lighthouse. Solo.
Came on Scraayl with Steve Clegg from Port St.Mary (07624 490615). Only £20 for coastal tour and 3hrs ashore! | Dangerous Dave | 07/05/2022 |
From Cow Pier to South Pier via summit. | Winterfloodian | 26/03/2022 |
Aboard Shona from Port Erin (£25). From landing point at Cow Harbour, good tracks to the Upper Lighthouse at 150657 - Up SW ridge on well-worn ATV track for about 150m & then another 150m or so along path through heather to summit. Much of hill covered in waist high bracken, but thankfully much less on SW ridge. (S) | gerrybowes | 03/08/2021 |
A great rib trip with Bluerib. Plenty of time to explore island between bird watching and lighthouse. From Port St Mary. Three lighthouses were nice to see. | jenx | 08/08/2019 |
With Jenx by boat from Port St Mary on a lovely day. Tumps and lighthouses logged | nordicstar | 08/08/2019 |

2nd tump of 5, this after the Calf of Man East top, driven virtually to the top by Aron, the Bird Warden for the Calf of Man (no problems with access today!) I recorded 130m @ SC 15237 65943.
Misty conditions, atmospheric and the tension mounting as next up is the attempt to climb Buroo. Aron drove us down to the South Harbour and parked up, the rest was upto me... | Dazingdale | 18/07/2018 |
Glad to get over here on first attempt. Sarah loved seeing the lighthouses en route and Seumas enjoyed being carried up until a few metres from the summit - then he walked the rest of the way to the summit :-) | assynt_bob | 02/08/2015 |
Our RIB departed Port Erin at 07:00 and arrived at the Calf of man at 07:15. It returned to collect us at 10:30 after we had bagged the P30 and the HuMP plus checked out The Stack, a P28 and Yn Burroo, a P39 stack which never made the top 50 Finest Peaks for the Isle of Man but both should be in there Rob Woodall. | Dugswell2 | 13/04/2013 |
Taken by Mike Keggin - see DARRENG log for details. | mae | 13/04/2013 |
As DG. Great boat ride. Last few hundred metres no paths. Used vague animal tracks from 1501 6573. If/when go off piste its meeting up with Heather again. Possibly better from 1552 6563. Not much to do for remaining 3 hours. | destaylor | 21/08/2012 |
Caught the boat from port st mary with Mike Keggin, tel 07624 493824. Cost £20 for 3 to 4 hours on the island. Its best to let the bird observatory know your coming. | DARRENG | 11/07/2012 |
Great boat ride - seals galore. Bit long stay on island - can circumnavigate within an hour. Has more than fair share of lighthouses. last 300m pathless in deep heather. Great views. Obvious top. | Martin R | 04/09/2011 |
Bit of a beggar to get to. | Mac.Hawk | 09/09/2009 |
fine summit & view; no sign of any kind of non-pillar trig. access unclear, feasible from E but prob best from old lighthse to W | RHW | 02/08/2003 |
