Parked in lay-by near community centre for round of 3. Along road to west then north on road to gate which I could not open. Past Pen -y-fynnon then left and up track to fence and gate into summit field. Came back over both tops of Pen-y-fynnon and then onto Pant-poeth hill. | PeterD | 07/07/2023 |
As others: parked to the S in abandoned quarry just beyond road gate at SN 9972 8210 - Up lane past the sad looking Pen-y-ffynnon & immediately after gate forked left & up track to just beyond the cattle grid - Staddled wire fence (no bw) & a short climb to the small summit cairn. Returned via Pen-y-ffynnon. | PGCE | 23/07/2021 |

Very pleasant 3 Tump circular walk combining this with Coed y Gaer | Alex C | 26/07/2019 |
From Waun. Need to take bridleway past the top to get into the field with the top. Down north along the bridleway. At the left kink (at 290m), turn left, do not go through the gate. | Alan Moore | 10/10/2018 |
Parked in layby N of New chapel near the start of the bridleway to the NW of the summit. Followed this slightly overgrown way with crunching beechnuts underfoot to grassy sheep pasture. HP has small cairn on domed grassy summit with all round views in breezy sun. Continued on to Pen Y Ffynon. | Denise | 30/08/2018 |
Easy detour from bridleway to grassy hill top -sheep pasture. Fine views. | RichardM | 30/08/2018 |
After Coed y Gaer(qv)- intended to be a continuous walk but we had our snack in the car at SO 003840 during a heavy shower. Then via the ROW though access land(a bog), Glydwr way and ROWs to just S of the summit which was reached over a barbless fence. We then followed the delightful SE ridge down- all grass pasture and joined the farmer's main access track to the hill via a gate. Shown on the map, clear on the ground, this is not a ROW, but with the holiday accom (unobtrusive) a bit of leeway in access seems to be OK in this valley. With Pete. Fine, clear after shower. | pwheeler | 01/05/2017 |
8/11 Eight of eleven on sunny but cold day (Llechwedd Llwyd/Bryn Du/Bryn Mawr/Old Chappel Hill/Pant-Poeth Hill/Peginn Mawr/Graig Iar/Molefre/Pen-y-Ffynnon/Coed y Gaer/Bryn Gwyn) | Fergalh | 05/11/2016 |
Parked near Llidiart y Waun Community Centre (SO 00081 81713) and took lanes W and NNW to house at Pen y Ffynnon. Then continued on lower boggy track which climbs NW to within about 50m of summit. One (non-barbed) wire fence to cross to summit. Good views. Reconstructed ruined summit cairn. With AT and JT. Walked continued to nearby Pt. 408m Pedwar. | Man of Kernow1 | 14/02/2015 |
Followed Glyndwr's Way to start with then the track to close to the top. A quick jump over a low fence (no barbed wire) to the cairn at the top. The quarry mentioned by other users is closer but is on a track and I like to climb from the nearest proper road. | clivevilla | 08/02/2015 |
As destaylor. | Chris Peart | 11/07/2014 |

From SW with Phil Cooper. Rather damp to begin with. | Dugswell2 | 16/11/2012 |
Parked on verge at a junction leading to Waun Hall. Barking dogs, ponies and churned mud paths until I got to the hill beyond. Over a fence and to the top 15.15. | arranc | 01/09/2012 |
Get the impression the PROWs marked on the map get very little use. And do people actually do those 'Ways' like Glyndwrs? | Martin R | 26/08/2011 |
From SO 001 816 taking in a bit of Glyndwrs Way. | summitsup | 14/08/2011 |
