As others, car park by the river, up BW to north of hill. Very wet in places. Continued til path enters pasture, then up south to where there is gate into forest. Followed track on the map until nearly at its HP then up through trees to a brambly top.PeterD15/12/2023
Parked in the car park (£2.50) by the River Usk at SO 03664 28957. Then took the green lane (a Roman road) WNW to Coed. This is a quagmire in its middle section after rain. Beyond the house, the start of the track is hard to find due to brash and tree-falls, and I struggled to locate it. Found on descent to be at SO 01548 29899. Further up, where track splits at SO 01491 29839, I took the left fork and ended up in a bramble hell before emerging higher up by a spruce plantation. Take the right fork, as I learned on the way down. This is passable, with brambles and tree-falls, but much easier! The track is good higher up. I left it at a firebreak at SO 01511 29423 - not too bad - before scaling the brambly ramparts of the hill-fort to reach a more open, but very prickly, summit area. Return route much better, as described above. Not a hill I care to repeat. Best done in leg-armour - no shorts! 7.5km, with 165m of ascent.Man of Kernow111/11/2023
9 mile run loop with Pauline from the Brecon Promenade car park .. along river to park then up the brilliant bridleway to Moel Fenni Fach .. the track up to Fenni Fach top was not as obvious as map suggests .. we found it hidden in undergrowth opposite the small gate on right just before gate across bridelway .. maybe not the best time of year to do this in shorts .. bit of a thrash and found a lucky way up last bit just after where the wall is shown on map .. back to bridleway same way then onto Y Gaer then tarmac through Cradoc before a right up Pen y Crug .. what a cracking hill with stunning views of central Beacons .. obligatory loop of the fort then back to Breconmilejunkie04/09/2023

Pleasant RoW passing Pennant, to the north of the hill. Overgrown tracks linked up between the marked zig-zags of the path to the north. Up between the lines of trees near the summit, with just a short bracken covered section near the top. (Forest track to the S of the hill is marked private)LizH31/05/2022
Promenade car park on Fenni-fach Road at SO 0364 2896 - WNW along bridleway to 015299 where lower part of forest track is overgrown so made way up through open woodland to join the upper part of the track at SO 0149 2984 - Up track to 015295 where there is a bit of a gap between recent planting & more mature trees - SW to summit which lies close to higher mounds of brash; plenty of bramble last 30m or so, but not too bad at this time of year. Walked on the Gurkha Path from the Prom car park to Fenni Fach. Main track up through the mixed forest to the old wall corner. Headed up a short ride to the hillfort bank. The whole fort area has been cleared though brambles are growing back. The HP on the NE corner of the fort is clear, though the 5 brash mounds overtop it. Lovely views of Cradoc from the summit and Brecon from the track. Very mountain bike-able.Rob Rees20/03/2021
Parked at the Brecon Promenade carpark. Don’t miss an ice cream at The Boathouse. The stroll beside the Usk well worth it. Followed tracks up into the forest. Approached summit from SE along line of firs. Brambles got the better of me at the summit. GSP was happy I’d made it, but think it a few yards off. A machete may be helpful for the very determined. Continued with the forest track to the BW to complete the circuit. Took nearly two hours. While the out and back was good, the hill is pretty pants.Pete West19/09/2020
Parked at junction at Pont-ar-Yscir. Track to wood then up old track (start marked by white tape opposite small gate on left) to vicinity of summit. Scrub to finish.PGCE05/02/2020
Parked at Cradoc and walked along the road to the track at SO 01088 30405 which looked ok on the map and Google Earth. It was rough so I went into the fields E and got to the hedge and 2 fences at the inaccessible bridleway heading E-W. I climbed down to the overgrown track at SO 01085 30010 and reached the bridleway. (Easier to go via Y Gaer). A gate into the forest at SO 01253 29615 leads to a clockwise track. At 1 o'clock clearings go SSW to the summit. On return at 12 o'clock a fork NW goes to SO 01550 29842 to head N across a field to a road (signed private where it meets the road back to Cradoc). 3.1 miles.Jim.Fothergill24/09/2018
Up bridlewayy that starts at 035290 then dodged up partly on paths. About 4 miles there and back from the car park on the banks of the Usk.clivevilla21/08/2018
Last hill of day. Had managed to remain dry until this one. After struggling through undergrowth I was pretty wet. Interesting woodland even at this time of year.Dusty15/11/2016
£1.30 for car park by river on the edge of Brecon, then used bridleway from the ESE to get to the bottom of the wood. Then a straightish direct route through unmanaged woodland crossing a poor track twice on the way up and three times on the way down.Dugswell221/10/2016
Parked in village then walked along road to fishery, crossed field to RoW then up fields alongside wood. Tracks within the wood are fast becoming overgrown and invisible but the trees are fairly open. Impossible to be sure of where the high point is.Colin Crawford25/06/2015
6/7 approached from farm to west along right of way, not a very clear path through forest so just headed uphill till i reached the topFergalh15/03/2015
An out there and back walk from Brecon. I have some video footage of this summit up on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v72X--qasrsAlex C02/12/2013
From one of the many car parks (£2.50) by river to west of town, good bridleway starts at 035 290, then up to 015 299 where turn up path into woods. Rough path with fallen trees nettles ouch etc.dicky30/04/2013
A difficult summit as no public access and hence no footpaths, coupled with the wood not having been managed for several years, the many fallen trees and rampant undergrowth made progress difficult at best.jonglew30/03/2013
tree debris and dense conifers at the top prevented progressarranc09/08/2012
The top takes some finding. Why do so many hills have trees on them?Martin R01/08/2011
used the excellent bridleway from fenni-fach road (so 03461 29005), which takes you of the entrance to the forest.hodder12/04/2011
Couldn't find a river crossing from the S. Parked at 004 299. Very tricky to decide exactly where the top is as is overgrown forest..destaylor11/06/2010
fairly densely-wooded hill fort; pleasant situation; no view. field gates from road to N (011304); enter forest from b/w to N RHW05/01/2003

'Difficult to get to' in 1981, but recorded, along with Y Gaer and Pen y Crug. Interesting walk from Brecon.pwheeler12/07/1981
