Parked at the start of the track at SO 32326 13323. Easy path to the top, but very boggy. Most of the views are obscured by the trees, but can see the Skirrid from the start and Abergavenny from the top. Doesn't take long to combine it with the Skirrid.Droplet749402/04/2024
Parked to the west at SO 32326 13323 - ample space. Took the track NW into the forest, continuing straight on at a junction up a path through the dense spruce plantation, very slippery when wet. At its highest point a tunnel has been cut through the spruce for 20m to the highest point choked by trees. Return by outward route. 2.6km, with 70m of ascent.Man of Kernow124/02/2024
Run with Pauline From close by train station .. straight up a cracking path to summit then back down .. we were impressed with Denise’s path making skills :-)milejunkie07/11/2023
From east side on track through woods then a pen knife- assisted bramble thrash to a possible mound of correct GR , no view, in treesDenise 03/11/2023
From SE following track which crosses the forested summit. High point unmarked low earth mound in brambly woods on S side of track. No view.RichardM03/11/2023
11:00, 7 degrees (10 later), overcast. From High Leas. Ysgyryd Fawr volcanoesque from here.Wycombe Wanderer16/01/2022
Parked at High Leas. Good paths. A very nice person (gerrybowes by the look of it!) has cut a way through the dense vegetation to the high point. A great view over Abergavenny to Sugarloaf. Solo.Dangerous Dave26/11/2021
Easy parking in wide entrance of track at High Leas - Up track to junction at SO 3187 1371 & then WNW on grass path to high point - Using secateurs, from SO 31622 13704 cut a pathway through the dense bramble & just into the tightly packed conifers; this area was also thick with bramble. (S)gerrybowes08/11/2021
A quick walk up from High Leas via the forest track. The muddy footpath over the top was thankfully deeply frozen. Pity to see the top heavily reafforested with sitka.Rob Rees11/02/2021
A geocaching series I was doing took me over this summitAlancache04/08/2020
Another hill I have been up several times but checking my diary of gpx files I can definitively say that I was here last on 02.03.20.morgs4mountains02/03/2020
A pleasant circular walk from the railway station included this summit. Very quiet and fabulous views from the top. Missed the path on the return leg and nearly ended up in someone’s garden - whoops!ThomasJoseph07/08/2019
start at Skirrid car park, Beacons Way to Skirrid Fawr to Pandy, Offa's Dyke Path to Llanwytherin across west to Ysgyryd Fach down into Abergavenny and Beacons Way back to Skirrid car park, 20.5 miles 3,125ft.stephenbuda23/03/2019

Useful layby at start of footpath to west on the A465. Straight up from there on good path. With R and B.jenx21/10/2018
Jenx and Bryher from A465 to West. Good lay by right by FP leading direct to summit. That now overgrown in bramble and scrubnordicstar21/10/2018
Summit replanted. Young, close knit tress, heavily vegetatedcarole engel09/10/2018
Unexpectedly had time for this on the day I drove over from Surrey- evening walk starting 1700 hrs. As others, from High Leas, traversed summit to join forest track 0.5 km W of where fp over summit leaves the track. Tree Pipit displaying next to summit! Sunny, warm, 25 degC in Abergavenny.pwheeler19/04/2018

From the River Gavenny in Abergavenny, past Pen-y-Fal hospital, over the A465 and the east along the footpath at Garth Farm, then south up through the woodland to the clear fell area, clockwise on forestry tracks to the east side of the hill, and finally west up the footpath to the summit.Mariana Trench03/02/2018

From High Leas. Along forest track and then smaller path to top. Trees and vegetation growing back, doesn't look anything like photo. Good views.PeterD16/07/2017
Easy parking at High Leas then an amble up tracks and path until the final overgrown 20 metres from summit. Bagged the minor bumps and tree stumps.Dugswell223/10/2016

Solo circuit from Abergavenny over Sugar Loaf, Bryn Arw and Ysgyryd Fach. Straightforward from Abergavenny station (path leaves bypass and is good through woods). Trees felled on summit - nice surprise and good views.Mark Jackson29/10/2015
Parked in lay by on A465. Short walk on marked footpath through fields and wood to summit.Ramblingpaul15/06/2015
Fairly unpleasant terrain up the western side of this wee hill on a days walk including two trigs and losing Walking pole.vegibagger20/02/2015
7/7 last of day but nice short hop up from edge of forest. Quite mucky in parts due to logging. wonderful panaoramic views for small hillFergalh30/11/2014
Hill climbed as a second choice as the cloud was well down on Sugar Loaf. Would be happy to revisit again though in much drier conditionds.Alex C28/02/2014
Easy parking just off the road at High Leas on track verge at SO 32312 13315 (200m). Excellent track/bridleway to SO 31876 13710 then overgrown grassy track to summit (shown as a black dotted path on 25k OS map). Highest point probably debatable but we settled for a mound c20m south of grassy track at SO 31620 13684.David Gradwell22/08/2013
Pleasant up and back stroll from Aber train station. Hot, dry day, nice to be in shade for much of the route (looks like it would be muddy in wet). Terrific view of Sugarloaf, Ysgyryd Fawr and Blorenge.thesweetcheat03/06/2013
Took a while to find the start. Parked at the railway station and went across the bridge. We found the start to the walk as a path and it was a wooded track to the top through a small field, woods then a cleared ( but not removed) top. A nice Sunday morning hike.steverd07/04/2013
From Abergavenny, good view all round.rhalstead06/04/2013
From Aber' coach station, via railway station FB, cross A465, marked paths. Weather made this a nasty slippy muddy ascent up through woods, so much so that wasn't risking it back down. Went east and circuited by signed paths to south, including path diversion through field of knee deep mud.dicky16/12/2012
Walked up from Pen-y-Parc. Not a lot of parking but room for 1 or 2 cars. We came across a very difficult area (SO 31700 13078) to cross due to huge amounts of mud, cow muck and water mixed together, the worst we've ever come across, and that is no exageration. We were literally wading in it well above our ankles for 20-30m. Top of the hill has been de-forested so views are quite extensive for such a small hill.jonglew08/12/2012
Used the same route as Chris Watson. A pleasant ascent but the summit area is a mess.Chris Peart05/10/2012
easy walk up from road at northern side great views all aroundrussf6926/05/2012
The summit area has recently been deforested and is very uneven.JohnStoneham06/05/2012
Nice walk up through the woods. Summit disappointing, but good views.Tracey04/02/2012
Stood on a dozen tree stumps, just to be sure. I think the local dog walkers drive up the 'private road'Martin R31/07/2011
Parked in lay-by. FP is about 50yards back north from the lay-by.clivevilla04/06/2011
Parked in layby at 306137 Good path all the way up to summit. Area above upper track has been cleared leaving good views. No obvious summit in large area of brushwood.chriswatson22/05/2011
Parked at High Lees. Track to bare top - trees cut down. Highest point seems S of track.chrisbien09/05/2011
Parked at High Leas.arranc27/10/2010
From layby on main road. Signposted and marked most of the way. Top in trees - came across it suddenly. Top could be anywhere.destaylor13/05/2010
Parked to the SE near 197 spot height. Walked up bridleway marked Private Road and kept to track till I found footpath to top full of trees. Path leaves track at SO 31489 13645.Father Ted10/05/2010
walked up from the path from the railway station after our heavy snow fall. The path is well constructed leads to a small summit plateau with no views.I image it could be quite slippy after heavy rainhodder07/02/2009
