Sunday afternoon with some light rain moving in from the Bristol Channel. Not particularly memorable, but straightforward anyway. | Alex C | 04/09/2022 |
From SS 9682 8590 via SS 9809 8588 - with no BWFs or wall climbs. Work being carried out on one turbine to the NW - so no lingering. | summitsup | 28/08/2022 |
Wet run from Llantrisant Forest (Smilog) with Pauline | milejunkie | 06/01/2022 |
Large parking area to W. at SS 9683 8595 - Followed RoW to wide gateway at SS 9790 8598 - Left track & NE to top corner of field & then easily over adjacent damaged wall to short section of wooden fencing without barbed wire at SS 9803 8607 - Over fencing & less than 100m to unmarked summit. From west over 274. | PGCE | 10/07/2019 |
Foggy walk up from cark park to the left, through a few gates and along the sides of fields. Pretty easy to get disoriented in such thick cloud | penbet | 23/06/2019 |
Up through windmills. No views today, just thick fog. Quite eerie. | Arbie | 16/11/2018 |
From the road high point to W, on Maendy Common. Good parking there. Over pt 274 then down 30m. to old road, lots of private land signs. Ignored one at a gate, got into windfarm at gate(GR:982860) which is on a bridleway ROW, from there tracks to HP. I resented having to spend 45 mins getting onto this trashed hill when there are clearly reasonable walks from the common. Sunshine and Bristol Channel with fog views (Porthcawl was 10 degC colder!) and lots of skylarks were a help. A bit fed up with trashy hills today, I finished with a brilliant good beer guide pub (Pencelli, Treorci), sitting out Rhondda rush hour, rather than Mynydd Gethin | pwheeler | 20/04/2018 |
From west on cold day. HP In wind farm. | PeterD | 25/02/2018 |
Simple walk from W. | RobertP | 25/11/2017 |

From the road high point to W. Good parking but lots of broken glass! | jimbloomer | 25/05/2016 |

On the route of the Rhondda Roundabout | philhythe | 11/05/2013 |
Summit is located within the boundary of a wind farm. Access straight forward, just need a little nerve to walk under one of these monsters when it's pelting round in the wind! | jonglew | 09/02/2013 |
Llanharan to Black Mill. Stiff headwind meant the turbines were in full throttle but access to summit does't appear to be a problem. Overall I was pleasantly surprised to find this E-W ridge with extensive views over the Vale of Glamorgan & towards the higher parts of the Valleys. | Smudge | 09/12/2012 |
have done windmill walk loads - cant get to actual peak though pretty close due to private land of windfarm | rypj83 | 09/10/2011 |
Horrible ugly inefficient wind power station and 'keep off' signs ruin what looks like was a nice looking hill | Martin R | 30/07/2011 |
Parked W of hill. Ridgeway Walk then onto the hill.

Highest point seems to be S of track. | chrisbien | 10/05/2011 |
Walked up from road to the west with colleague from Tunisia and China. A very still mild evening. A Range Rover approached us when we were at the top but just drive past even though we were not stricktly on the footpath. | Father Ted | 14/04/2011 |
From park to the West. Very good grassy track. | destaylor | 14/05/2010 |
walked up the footpath from the Griffin pub to join the ffordd-y-bryniau ridgeway path. These are a series of well constructed footpaths the summit is flat topped and dominated by wind turbines. | hodder | 09/03/2009 |
