Coming up from Whaley Bridge, the favourite lay-by is after a 2-car parking spot earlier on the bend. The favourite requires less road-walking. High point seems to be just to the north of the wall, as ground falls to the wall and then falls away rapidly to the S | henryfm | 26/06/2021 |
With Gina. Started from layby in bend 200m SE of footpath. Followed footpath to se corner of public access land then followed wall on west side. Steepish ascent to start with and as it levels out ground becomes tussocky and boggy, but nothing too serious. Wandered around field corner to cover hp then climbed over wall were seemed slightly higher so wandered up and down wall to stand on hp. Return by following wall east to 2nd junction then SW to rejoin fp and back to van | mntainman | 25/06/2021 |
From the lay-by. Lovely cold snowy day. Built a snowman on the summit area whilst Ivy had a nappy change in the emergency shelter. Managed a bit of sledging on the way back to finish off a good day. | Jephcote83 | 31/12/2020 |
lovely wild spot with great views. Via access land to SW. Tussocky grass. | Denise | 19/11/2020 |
From the W by RoW then steeply up the Access Land. Blue skies, sunshine and fine views. | RichardM | 19/11/2020 |
Straightforward from SE. | Wycombe Wanderer | 15/06/2020 |

Ran down the canal from Marple, to the gritstone trail, along the road, across the field to the summit. No trigpoint but great views! | SB1066 | 03/05/2020 |
Parked in the layby at 998820. A forty minute return walk following the path from Whaley Road at the 308 height and then directly to the summit. Solo. | bolton | 11/03/2020 |
It's easier walking from the Southeast corner of the access land than from the Southwest.

Parked in small layby at SJ 99709 82005 - NW along road for 200yd, over step stile and then along well-used RoW to wall at 989817 - Up E. side of wall and then, about 150yd from top, crossed easily to W. side (no barbed wire) - A short climb to unmarked summit. (S) | gerrybowes | 21/08/2018 |
From the lay-by. Used very good path from a little further along road for most of the way, then animal tracks through tussocky ground to top. Detour to dipping stone on return and found another path back to lay-by with no need for road walking, With B and R. | jenx | 07/08/2018 |
With Jenx and Bryher, from parking in lay by at FP leading off SW, we walked up the busy road to gain FP leading more directly, found on return from summit there there is a signed path that leads to the other path from the lay by obviating need for road walking | nordicstar | 07/08/2018 |

Parked in layby at 997820, walked up the road a short way then straight up by the side of the wall. One fence and two walls to clear. | clivevilla | 15/05/2018 |
Usual ascent route. No issues with walls though.. I climbed 3 gates to arrive on the summit. Another decent viewpoint. | stig_nest | 26/03/2018 |
Like most, from layby at SJ997820 on Whaley Lane. On fp to S, cut across pastures too early at remains of wall, directly to summit. We returned over tussocks, then ok ground in access compartment, to a delightful section of the fp, good gate at solid wall here (you should use this on way up, too), then back to layby. An uninspiring summit, but pleasant walking country. With Pete. | pwheeler | 11/03/2018 |
Circular walk from Whaley Bridge. Good visibility, despite a dull grey day. | Lazylizzie | 27/01/2018 |

Same route as David Evans | ijpowell | 30/09/2017 |

2nd hill of 2 today having been dropped off near the top of Disley Hill i climbed that and descended to Disley then followed the Gritstone trail to where it veers off into Lyne park. I took fp up to Higher lane and contined to jct off access land climbing on a bearing direct for summit, emerging from moor to summit field close to wall. Outstanding views to Roaches and Shutlingsloe. Descent SE to intercept fp dropping onto Whaley lane and following this all the way to the station | Dazingdale | 11/12/2016 |
With Jo, from Lyme Park: paths to Sponds Hill (top and trig), then via the Bow Stones Crosses to High Peak School, then onto Whaley Moor before returning past the school and Lyme Park East Lodge. Weather; generally sunny with light breeze, mild, good visibility. | amblerbob | 23/09/2016 |
