from Covenhope via FP and forest tracks to summit area. Afterwards to bridge over R. Lugg to do the Camp.IanHHill19/02/2024
Approached from the SE but the northern side is much easier. A sea of bluebells in May.Rob Rees20/04/2023
From the forest entrance to the SE.At the forest junction to the South of the high point walked easily to the top, just a few nettles to watch out for.NormanW21/05/2022
Parked at start of forest track to SSE. Followed forest track, until it levelled off, then headed north through old extraction line to pick up grassy track that took me to north of top. At hp of that track headed south to HP which was at foot of tree. Picked up main forest track to return by heading south from top, would not have found it easy to do that route in reverse.PeterD12/09/2021
Bike ride from Leominster: Wapley Hill, Shobdon Hill and Mere Hill.Mark Jackson11/09/2021
Not that much particularly remarkable about these woods, but still alright enough for an hour's explore.Alex C14/05/2021
ROW from roof to SSW then forestry tracks circum-navigating the top. Don't be tempted to try and push through forestry from South. Use Travis round to North where it's closer to summit and its in deciduous trees.vegibagger04/11/2020
Parked at the end of the forest track to the SSE. Started up the track and mistakenly took the inviting looking little path on the right at the first sharp bend. Then followed vague animal tracks through brambles, bracken and nettles along the forest edge, emerging onto a field edge and re-entering the forest at SO 41162 65275, from where a vehicle track went out to the main track. Turned right on the circular track around to N of the summit, then explored the possible high points in the wood. Descended down the main track, shortcutting the first descending loop on an obvious vehicle track, then followed the main track back to the car.LizH20/08/2020
Parked to SSE in wide entrance to forest track at SO 4130 6382 - Up forest track to T-junction, turned right & made way round to high point of track on N. side - A straightforward 80m walk over bluebells & a bit of bracken to the unmarked summit which lies somewhere near a large oak at SO 4082 6544. From forest track to N, easily through open woodland.RichardM08/11/2019
From south. Track winds up to summit area. Easier to access summit from north side.PGCE12/10/2019
From track junction to SE.rhalstead05/01/2019
New Year day walk, first hill of 2019. Nice summit area, tracks through woods to top and a trig divert. With Jenx and Bryhernordicstar01/01/2019
A nice start to the new year. Fairly open woodland higher up, so easy to cut through.jenx01/01/2019
Easy forest roads from the entrance to Blackthorn Wood, then short detour at the top. Bluebells barely out yet which was a shame - those in Worcestershire much more advanced.milimana29/04/2018
With K following forestry track from south.Ashley11/09/2017
From Covenhope Farm to South. FP at SO411644 impassible in summer. Walk around southern edge of wood and climb over fence to access forest track at SO409646 (just before field fence/hedge). Did not find any - wood cutting tracks - from SE. Easiest access from track to North - wood quite open and vegetation no problem)carole engel29/07/2017
Parked at entrance to Blackthorn Wood. Took an overgrown shortcut across Church Wood (not advised) & a good one from SO408649 N. Several woodcutting vehicle tracks from around SO410653 heading NNW then easy going beween spaced trees to summit. 3.3 miles, 75 mins.Jim.Fothergill04/09/2016
7/8 Crossed field and entered forest than followed track until rough track uphill at bend in path, steep and not easy an afterwards final 300 metres is difficultFergalh06/01/2015
Climbed via Blackthorn Wood, Church Wood and Mere Hill Wood. Then direct from track junction to SE.Chris Peart14/08/2014
Parked roadside at entrance to Blackthorn Wood. Good path to Church Wood then woodland tracks and a bit of rough stuff to summit. Top of hill is not marked or defined but was reasonably obvious. Diverted on return to pick up Hill Barn trig. Confronted by farmer who was not at all happy with us being on his land, but as only 50m from pillar let us proceed.jonglew03/11/2013
with Tony & Devon. From Shobdon Hill then finished at Aymestrey.Stuart Hyde08/09/2012
Parked at the bottom of the track, no navigation issues.JohnStoneham12/08/2012
Don't try from the west side. All the tracks are overgrown and not fun.andrew brown15/07/2012
Evening walkWestlandWessex06/06/2012
Easy parking at end of track to SSE. Last few hundred metres bit tricky. Fine bluebell wood.destaylor03/05/2012
Bluebells in wood.arranc31/01/2012
Parked at entrance to forest to SSE. Easy walking and two interesting forested huts not too far from summit which is flattish and could be near either of two deciduous trees but had a good walk around.Dugswell226/11/2011
P at Blackthorn Wood. Used top track counterclockwise. Easy walking at the top.chrisbien21/07/2011
From SO 41320 63800 made a detour to get the trig point on the way down. Stunning amount of foxgloves around track near summit. www.heavyhorses.co.uk/humpsheavyhorses17/06/2011
From the lane at SO 41320 63800. Approached from the track to the NW of the highest point at SO407655. Straightforward.summitsup01/03/2009
Forest track before the last bit through off track a dark, coniferous forest. The top bit is clearer with occasional deciduous trees but no clear summit or views.clivevilla23/03/2008
