Parked with permission at Easdon Farm. Bracken getting thicker.... | tim747 | 29/06/2023 |
Parking for 2 cars at start of BW to ENE. Up path until it reaches the access land, then followed a good well trodden route up to the top. Good views. On way back there seemed to be many trodden routes back to the BW. No problem with bracken this time of year. | PeterD | 09/02/2023 |
From SE. Drove to end of lane passed Barracot and parked on public access land - quite steeply so as not to block the byway. | Minto | 30/06/2022 |
Parked at Easdon Farm, sought permission but owners were out. So we let a tenant there know what we are doing and a note with our return ETA. RoWs to top of bw,then good mown tracks going NW to hill top. A fine isolated viewpoint, pastoral and wooded valleys, a contrast to our first hill of the day, Ryder's Hill. With Pete. | pwheeler | 15/06/2022 |
Parked with permission at Easdon Farm SX 7279 8186; woman at the house appreciated being asked & I assured her that I would be away in less than an hour - E. along byway & then N. up bridleway to wall corner - Left bridleway & headed NW up well-used path/track to the summit rock flake by trig point. Parked close in to hedge at entrance to Barracott Farm. Pleasant walk up lane and right along grassy rides after the gate. | Nick Down1 | 13/07/2019 |
Trig point | cjo | 29/03/2019 |
Parked in jonglew's suggested place. A narrow passing place really - not ideal but it's a quiet road. Easy path up through gorse. | Herbert Anchovy | 20/03/2019 |
From North Bovey cp via luckden, forest trails and RoW. Good paths through bracken and gorse all the way to the top. | Moorponder | 27/06/2018 |
From the sue using bridleway and fp which are unmarked but obvious. Delightful hill. Probably better in winter when the bracken is dead. | Barbara Singer | 05/02/2018 |
From Easdon Farm and followed fp and pony tracks to lovely top. Fabulous morning and great views and it is early February. Long chat with cottage owner on descent. Charming man and full of good stories. | Campbell Singer | 05/02/2018 |
There is no parking space at the start of the obvious way up from the SE. I parked a little further up the lane and decided to try a straight up route which was not great as there were a couple of difficult wall/fences and quite a bit of gorse. I came down the obvious route which was more satisfactory. | clivevilla | 14/11/2017 |
W Jenx and Bryher. Parked w permission at Easdon farm and followed fine old track up the hill. Forked off at path line near where RoW is meant to be and had to negotiate lines through the gorse to reach interesting summit, fine views | nordicstar | 06/10/2017 |
A fine hill walk. Much less busy than the others round about. | jenx | 06/10/2017 |
From the car park in North Bovey (free). Descended on the lane and over the river, then up through Aller, turning onto a bridleway at SX 74534 82846 through the forest and woodland, then up over the moor to the summit, avoiding the gorse. To descend, headed down the north ridge in an attempt to reach a bridleway. Failed to locate it and ended up floundering around in the garden of a new-build house by a pond. Climbed a fence onto the lane, and so back to North Bovey. Solo. | Man of Kernow1 | 30/04/2017 |
From the SE the poor car having clawed its way onto the grass just off the rough byway. Lovely hill with fine views and good granite features. High point is leaning rock slab on E side of trig point.

No parking now available after Barracott Farm so went to Easdon Farm. Strictly speaking there is no parking there but received permission from the lady at the house to park. You need to walk some distance towards Barracott before turning off towards the top otherwise you become entangled in gorse, bracken and deep heather. | moorsman | 23/08/2014 |
Bridleway from Luckdon SX745828 (parking for 4 cars). Woods then high bracken to boundary stone path for Figgie Daniel tall thin tor (SX735823) then easy tracks to top. | Bodmhor | 03/08/2014 |
It's possible to drive past Barracott on a metalled byway to start of bridleway at SX732817, parking just through gate - don't try the byway from Easdon Farm as it's much rougher. | Chris Peart | 29/07/2014 |
On a wet day whilst Josh was at Plymouth University open day. | simon and co | 05/04/2014 |
Found a parking slot at entrance to Canna Farm after failing to find one at Barracott. Straight forward 1km NNW over a couple of gates and fields to the intake wall. Over that and straight up to the summit. | jonglew | 13/01/2014 |
park at Easdon Farm (with permission). walk up on bridal path and grass rides | arranc | 01/11/2013 |
great sunset | Adrian | 13/07/2013 |
I parked in a widening of the road near Barracott to the South East. I then went up the lane to Easdon Cottages. After a gate I headed North West over the dry moorland to the summit. Lots of Gorse on the higher slopes. Summit marked by trig and rock outcrop. Lovely views in warm Spring sunshine. | isabelle | 19/04/2013 |
Parked on road to SW at SX725821 before walking up lane past Easton Farm cottages. Once past fields took feint path next to fence and headed N through bracken and broom to rocky outcrop them onwards to summit. Lovely late afternoon walk in sunshine. | Father Ted | 08/09/2012 |
From Easdon Farm. Top is rock beside the trig | chrisbien | 25/05/2012 |
GR8 morning, climbed from SW just one wall/fence but plenty of vegetation even in mid March. | Dugswell2 | 25/03/2012 |
Parking (just) by houses to SSW. Fine walk in good weather. Was so windy could not stand at trig point. Dread to think what is was like in Scotland! | destaylor | 08/12/2011 |
S to N traverse as part of Warren House to Mortonhampstead ramble. Warm but hazy. | Smudge | 27/03/2011 |
Our road walk here from Heatree had to take to the fields to avoid a tarmac lorry blocking the entire narrow lane. One workman climbed along the length of the lorry on the roof to climb down into cab like on trains in cowboy films. | Chris Pearson | 06/08/2010 |
Good viewpoint, working at Higher Langdon Barn. Quick walk up at lunch time. Trig point on good condition No3542. | Rob Pen y Garn | 19/08/2008 |
