Parked by the church on Compton Bishop ( space for 3 cars ). The PRoW to the edge of the access land & then straight up to the top. Superb views. | DanMaisieBex | 19/03/2022 |
The day prior to storm Eunice hitting. From small CP near A38. Shown on OS 1:25000 map. Muddy and slippery path up from car park. Eventually grass appeared underfoot. Windy. Slippery in many places, I actually fell on my bum. Onto crook peak, tried to get to it from paths around north, coming to western side. As we walked round the wind got stronger, to the point we could barely stand. We retreated and came around the lee side, out of the wind. Got to the top but stayed away from edge. Pleasant route back with wind behind us. Only saw half a dozen people around on the top. Must be swarming in the Summer. | Malcvolm | 17/02/2022 |
From Kings Wood up alongside the Boxing Day crowds to fine viewpoint to Somerset Levels, Glastonbury and Cardiff. Following final English Marilyn on route to motorway north again. 3/3 | N.Morters | 26/12/2021 |

NT car park at ST 4125 5605 - W. along bridleway to summit rock by trig point. Fine grasses around trig point & on middle section of walk, but steeper slopes are badly eroded with little or no grass cover. Woodland suffering from ash dieback. (S) | gerrybowes | 07/04/2021 |

With L, K & R. | Chris Ellis | 30/08/2020 |
Walk from car park near quarry at Compton Bishop. Steep ascent to Crook Peak and east to next HP at Wavering Down. Continue along ridge, descending to A38 and then long climb towards next HP at Callow Hill. Note due to northerly extension of limestone quarry, the path is diverted. Any former grassy summit is now gone and the best we could do is reach the highest point on the other side of a fence. Retrace route taking alternative way back from Hill Farm below Wavering Down. 10.28miles; walking time 4hrs,20mins; average speed 2.4mph | Howards | 21/03/2020 |
Here for the trigpoint. TP:UK log:

#15 'trig' of the trip. #9 Pillar. Last one of the day. Nice walk up from car park through Kings Wood's. Loved the farmhouse (Hill Farm) on the way up what a fantastic place to live! A bit more tricky going down wet, slippy slopes on the return journey in the pitch dark. | thejackrustles | 06/03/2020 |

Pleasent walk from Crook Peak, fine views even under grey and murky skies. Warm and light rain. Trig point appears to be on a flattened tumulus. High ground on N side of fence 500m WNW of trig is of similar height. I liked the inscription on the stone seat ' Only a hill but all of life to me' | RichardM | 24/07/2016 |
Pleasant walk on warm muggy day driving home from Plymouth. Trig. Also visited Crook Peak and Compton Hill. | Denise | 24/07/2016 |
Parking on the road by the church to the North East then along ROW to the lane then along to Hill Farm, from there over to Pillar at Wavering Down and then off to Crook Peak, great evening walk and views. | griefmiester | 04/07/2016 |
3.5 mile circular from bottom of Crook Peak ridge, following small roads and crossing fields towards Wavering Down, then along surprisingly nice ridge to Crook Peak, descended ridge back to car, weather was dull and started raining between the 2 hills, not bad views even though better on a clear day. Did a walk a Beacon Batch that morning. | DanTrig | 11/06/2016 |
from small car park at base up to waveringdown then to crook peak and back | orbit bad | 28/02/2016 |
With Minnie, from parking area, Webbington rd, up Crook Peak-steady pull up ridge, more intersting top, then round Compton Hill to Wavering Down & trig, down via Hill farm & woods to Compton Bishop-parking, some sun & heavy cloud, dry & v cool fresh breeze. | apricorum | 19/04/2015 |
