2/2 Parked beside the sheep enclosures and very quick visit to this summit, then over the road to the Bridleway and followed this to the shooting lodge, then used various quad bike tracks up past shooting butts to Brownber Head (probably better not done in total mist like we did, but still perfectly safe and doable). | nickywood1 | 26/06/2021 |
Parked on the B6270 south of Tailbridge Hill. Nice steady walk direct to the summit then minor path across the moor to the main path up to Nine Standards Rigg. Next came a cross-country there-and-back trek across the, thankfully bone-dry, heather and hags to Brownber Head, before finishing atop the featureless White Mossy Hill. | summitter | 19/06/2021 |
With Sue from road to Nateby. Nine Standards Rigg, on way to Brownber Head. not much path wet underfoot to follow. Cold and windy with some sleet but generally good visibility. | Frank | 13/11/2020 |
08:30, 7 degrees, stiff westerlies, light showers. From road to NE. On to High Greygrits. | Wycombe Wanderer | 08/01/2020 |
From ENE, good track then mostly quad tracks, trail shoed feet dry throughout, sunny breezy pm | RHW | 08/09/2019 |
Sunny and showers. | Dugswell2 | 11/05/2019 |
From NY 8085 0427; good track to Rollinson Haggs, then off-piste to White Mossy Hill. Near enough direct line from there - over a lot of hags. Walked across to the small 600m contour, which seemed to be higher, and gave a metre higher on the GPS. Picked off Bastifell (an Elmslie) on the way back. | jonglew | 05/03/2019 |
Over Nine Standards, good going underfoot as described. Via Fox Crags and back over White Mossy Hill. Unremarkable top but good views today. | nordicstar | 18/02/2019 |
From county boundary (B6270) via Nine Standards Rigg after a there and back to White Mossy Hill. Followed a track north of NSR cairns, before leaving this heading towards Fox Crags, over some rough ground heading for the sheepfold above Winton Force. Ground becomes much easier with hints of tracks before crossing Brownberhead Beck and up to the summit. Returned same way. | Fisky Boy | 20/09/2018 |

Parked by B6270 at NY 80470 04497. Nateby Common > Nine Standards Rigg > Brownber Head > White Mossy Hill. | David Gradwell | 26/05/2017 |
Surprisingly pleasant and easy walk down from Nine Standards Rigg. We crossed Backstone Beck and had a similarly easy walk up to White Mossy Hill. With Evan, Sail, Alfie & Coel. | Dangerous Dave | 12/03/2017 |
Directly from Nine Standards, no path and rough, worse on return into strong headwind. Two slight rises for summits, preferred second one which has at least got a distinctive yellow mossy patch! | Aye Jimmy | 18/07/2015 |
From Nine Standards Rigg, reasonably dry underfoot. | JohnStoneham | 26/04/2015 |
Nine Standards Rigg, Brownber Head, High Greygrits | keithouk | 16/02/2015 |
With Jo, walk from B6270 county boundary parking space: across Lady Bog (aptly named) to Nine Standards Rigg, then onto Brownber Head (two tops) (surprisingly dry), returning via NSR to White Mossy Hill then across Dukedale Pots to Nateby Common (Tailbridge Hill). Weather; cloudy with sunny intervals, cool breeze on tops, good visibility. | amblerbob | 24/08/2014 |
Walkers heading towards this hill from Nine Standards should aim directly towards the sheepfold marked on the OS map. There are a series of tracks heading across the fell towards this therefore avoiding much rough fell walking. | moorsman | 19/04/2011 |
Bagged during a yomp from Nine Standards to Tan Hill way back in 2005. The weather was lousy but the walk was fun, all nine hours of it! | DanHolme | 30/11/2005 |
