With Rhona Fraser. From Linn of Dee. After the main top of Beinn Bhreac and the West Top we proceeded north to Beinn a' Chaorainn. It was mostly easy going, but some soft snow up the final slopes. We had discussed on the approach the possibility of including Beinn a' Bhuird, originally “for another day”, but we realised it was possible for today. We took off crampons and proceeded to Beinn a' Chaorainn Bheag before continuing to Beinn a' Bhuird. | pwbellarby | 17/02/1996 |

Cairngorm Club meet at Muir Cottage. I left Linn of Dee with a fellow member. At Derry Lodge we parted. I walked up Glen Derry. Somewhere opposite the Hutchison Hut I put on crampons – there was much hard snow. The wind was by now very strong and it was very cold. Shortly before the summit of Lairig an Laoigh I climbed up eastwards and then went NE to the summit of Beinn a’ Chaorainn – large cairn. I continued to Beinn a’ Chaorainn Bheag – conditions getting worse. I navigated back to Glen Derry in whiteout conditions with a ferocious wind. I reached Linn of Dee having tested the telephone at Derry Lodge. | pwbellarby | 13/02/1994 |
