A pleasant grassy track from Clunskea follows the delightful burn of the same name until petering out about 2km shy of Creag Chlacharnach. After an initial squelchy stretch of boggy ground, drier, rockier, heathery ground provides an easy climb to the summit, then a narrow path leads on to Creag nan Gobhar and Ben Vuirich. A recent dusting of snow enhanced both the Ben and surrounding larger hills, but a cold wind gave little time for dallying. Carn Dubh then the much lower Meall Daimheidh were quickly bagged before the asphalt track through Gleann Fearnach presented a straightforward way back to the A924. | summitter | 27/03/2021 |

Solo. Day trip from Stonehaven. Parked at bridge over Tarvie Burn on A924 road. Walked along the road and then up track past Tarvie House. At the end of the track is a bothy. I was now in mist and using compass. To Druim Mòr, Carn Dubh and hence to Ben Vuirich. The summit has a square-section trig point inside a stone shelter. Returned more or less via outward route. | pwbellarby | 05/11/1995 |
