From ski centre. Beinn a' Chruinnich, Carn Ealasaid and Tolm Buirich. Had a wander around summit area to all possible high points. With Lisa and Daniel.CJM29/01/2024
Climbed with Louise Waters, Gemma Andreae, Jack Reed and Simon Walsh on an OMC Meet the Smugglers Hostel, Tomintoul. Climbed from Blairnamarrow up Càrn Ealasaid first then across to Beinn a' Chruinnich. Jack 'summited' one of the abandoned chairlift pylons. Returned via Allt Farbh-bheinne, 3:20hrs all in.chillyman818/11/2023
With Corbett to East c20Km from Glenshee. Haggy challenge. Grey, dry.davechaffey30/09/2023
With J during a hot & sunny week based in Tomintoul. Parked at the ski centre, followed the track up to the memorial stone bench on Carn Mhic an Toisich. Then across to Beinn a'Chruinnich. Lots of dead birds around. Avoided the worst of the hags by walking beyond the last ski pylon where a narrow path keeps to the crest to the broad col & then to the summit. Crawling on the heather was a red-legged shieldbug which must have hitched a ride up there!NotReallyABagger03/09/2023

Solo from The Lecht ski centre. Had planned to do this as part of a single route from Corgarff castle with Brown Cow Hill, bu the River Don was in spate, and very strong winds at the Brown Cow summit had me rethinking the original plan. Parked at a deserted ski centre and walked up the zig zag path up to Carn Mhic an Toisic, then to Beinn a' Chruinnich - wind mostly at my back at this point. Dropped down a narrow path through the heather and through the tedious peat bog. Ascent up to the summit was painless but within about 40m of the summit, the wind was ferocious. Tapped summit cairn and descended back down to return the same way. Total time 1h 38min.mproudfoot30/10/2022

From Corgarff Casle free CP to SE (NJ 254 089). Track to Carn Ealasaid and onto Craig Veann via Tolm Buirich. Fence is now electric but there are several stiles over it - thank you land owners. Out and back to Liath Bheinn and Carn Bad a'Ghail. Crossed mapped path at NJ 1867 1000 without even noticing it. Stuck to mapped line and it did improve. Met land owner and estate manager on bridge at NJ 208 086. Interested in where I had been and what I had seen - no idea and mountains. Charming and welcoming. Well managed estate with consideration for walkers (stiles over fences)carole engel27/07/2022

With Rhona and Struie over Carn Ealasaid from small parking space just E of Blairnamarrow. Back via Beinn a'Chruinnich and when descended nipping westwards over Lurg Dhubh on path skirting edge of formaer woodland. NB. In spring and early summer, watch out for a large seagull colony on top of Beinn a Chruinnich. Chicks everywhere, running around. Def put the dog on the lead!DampandDusty16/06/2022

From the ski centre. Track up to Carn Mhic an Toisich, then contoured round to the col at point 694 across peat hags and heather. Path up to the summit. Descended east along tracks marked on the 1:25,000, crossed Camore Burn then contoured at about 620-650m asl through thick heather but no peat hags back to the ski centre.Owen B23/04/2022
From large layby on A939 at NJ224151, followed good track up to a col, then less distinct tracks near fence line to summit os Beinn a' Chruinnich, continued at first SW the SSW across col and up Carn Ealasaid mostly on tracks, then NW swinging to W across the heather, sedge and some peat hags to summit of Tolm Bùirich, then N following intermittent ATV tracks to Carn Breac, meeting the turning loop of a track from the W, but continuing on NNW, downslope on a foottrack along the line of grouse butts, crossed Allt Nuadh, skirted Lurg Mullaich, crossed Allt Blairnamarrow to an old ATV track that led up to the A939, and returned to the start (3h45m)kdbennett21/03/2022

Solo. Cycle from Cock Bridge. Cycle to summit, down via Dunanfiew. Round trip less than an hour. Good tracks.John Lee11/09/2021
Easy track all the way to the summit of Carn Ealasaid from the A939 north of the Cock Bridge bridge, then more challenging heather 'n' hag terrain to Tolm Buirich and Craig Veann. The trudge over the lower Carn Bad a' Ghuail and Foal's Craig offered little respite, and the so-called path SE of The Eag was impossible to find until it becomes a legit grouse-blasters track. Being suckers for heathery punishment we nonetheless pressed on to bag Druim Bhuirich and Tom Dunan, enjoying a quick skinny-dip in the Allt Reppachie to cool sore limbs and bodies before the hot track-traipse back to Loinherry and the A939.summitter18/07/2021

Arrived straight after bagging Brown Cow Hill. Decided in starting from a sunny but breezy Ski centre. Tried to take short cut across but returned by the ridge line to Beinn a' Chruinnich. Strange flock of birds followed me most of the way down!Jhimmy03/06/2021
1/3 Parked at clearing beyond snow gates at NJ 25661 09507 and walked down before taking the easy path all the way to top, weather threatened to clear and create some views but never go there, went on to Beinn a’ Chruinnich through the peat hags and dropped down to ski centre before walking back up the A939 and ticking off Hill of Allargue before descent to car, completing the circuit.PDuncan8220/05/2021
From Castle car park, keeping to the track. Surprising amount of wildlife lower down. High up much lichen. Ideal reindeer habitat if they are ever reintroduced here!GWR Chris13/05/2021
From Corgarff Castle, followed road round to Loinherry then up to summit187lenny27/12/2020
Started from Corgarff Castle, along River Don and then onto hill tracks which peter out towards the top. Deer fence crosses summit of Craig Veann. Then continued on peaty ground to Tolm Burich and the higher Carn Ealasaid. Descended to Cairn Vaich and down track to Loinherry, then to the road and back to the castle. 21km.PiranhaFish27/09/2020
Ambitious solo mini-adventure to bag the two 'Lecht Corbetts' (+ 4 other tumps in-between) as a 3 hr+ evening hill run after school at Strathdon before darkness @7.30pm in late Sept. 4.16pm departure. Stormed up through the ski fencing over the Chrunnich summit and broke into a run. Back at the car in just 55 mins (33 mins to summit -22 mins back - my OMM training put to good use here despite the event next month cancelled re.Covid). Shortish climbs and good peaty grassy surface and paths for the large part aided a speedy outing - wonderful to be running in these big open empty spaces. Then straight on to Part 2 the long (and slower) 12km return to distant Carn Mor. Made it back to the car on schedule at darkness at 7.35pm. Drained luke warm tea from flask and ate left over lunch crusts -ravenous. Ski buildings looking forlorn out of season.Chris Pearson23/09/2020

From Blairnmarrow via Lurg Mheadhonach. Snowfall 2 days ago meant a trek through deep snow and the ascent took 3h instead of est. 2h in snow-free conditions. It was very worthwhile for being in a snow covered landscape, very beautiful, on a still, sunny day. With Pete. See Beinn a' Chruinnich log for return route.pwheeler18/03/2019

An improvised walk late in the day, after I found myself without the maps for various hills I had planned, and unable to find a map seller in Dufftown. From the Lecht via the seagull colony to Beinn a'Chrunnich, then to Carn Ealasaid and back. Stay high on the intervening ridge to escape the clutches of the peat hags. And, for variety, walk up or down the mountain bike route from the Lecht, avoiding more bogginess.Nick Down128/07/2017

On final day of RBS HWC Ballater weekend. I parked in the car park of the pub in which we had a drink after Brown Cow Hill on the Sunday. It was a straightforward climb up a good track all the way to the top. Although I felt that I was struggling up the track, I got to the top in under the guidebook time. I drove home via the Lecht, Tomintoul and the A9.langskill30/05/2016
A nice enough walk from Corgaff castle, but it was disappointing to find that I could have bagged this hill on my mountain bike. I did a short part of the walk off piste and found the most amazing mixture of plant life and lichen, incredibly colourful. Thick mist and drizzle evaporated my enthusiasm for an extended walk, so I scuttled back down in time for very early tea and cake.Gill18/03/2016
