Snow showers but a good day from Dunmaglass along Loch Conagleann it was completely frozen | Jamesand Allison | 14/01/2024 |
Parked at Y junction end of estate road. Over Beinn Mheadhoin first then via Loch Conagleann. | Minto | 13/01/2024 |
Steep descent off Beinn Mheadhoin then crossed shallow river by generator station. Across Loch Conagleann dam then up ridge above loch through a gap in the young trees. Easier than expected. Back along unmapped road to Dunmaglass House and onward to cars to the north. A great walk with Jill & Minto. | Dangerous Dave | 13/01/2024 |
With KeithbytheC. Parked at the entrance to the Dumnaglass Lodge track. Followed Gill's route over Beinn Mheadhoin and over the dam to Creag a Chliabhain. After crossing the dam slope quite bracken but sticking near the fence up to the ridge there is a bit of a path. Very heathery up past the pheasant pens and onto the ridge with the new trees. A better way to go is on reaching the ridge there is an unmapped track, turn right here, go down the track a bit, then a faint ATV track leads off to the left up the RHS of the ridge. This avoids the majority of heather and bracken. This is the way we descended. Walk 9.4 miles out about 5hrs. | JulieB | 23/07/2022 |
From Beinn Mheadhoin. Over dam at N end of Loch Conagleann. Ascended through deep bracken, then soft ground through gate in deer fence. Not recommended. Found much easier descent on faint ATV track near stream that heads NE towards Dumnaglass Lodge. | KeithByTheC | 23/07/2022 |
Cracking hill. Climbed via dam after Beinn Mheadhoin | curlebd | 01/05/2022 |
From road junction at NH607245 (no longer has a phone), along tracks through Dunmaglass, following wind farm road along Allt Glac an Tùir, crossing by bridge, then by Allt Uisg an t-Sìdhein, leaving on an estate track at NH601210 to stay with the river, crossing by bridge at NH604186, then following track SW, turning up hill NNW onto the S ridge of Beinn Dubhcharaidh, and along to the summit, descending SW to skirt the S end of deep rocky glen, passing the 550m summit on its N slope, reaching the N ridge of Carn Liathdoire, N on that for 1km before descending steeply to Conagleann, reaching the track SW of the col and continuing SW to gates at NH571195 and an unmapped ATV track that heads NW, then picking a track up the SW ridge of Creag a' Chliabhain to the summit, descending NW, to a gate in the deer fence at NH579210, joining an old ATV track that connected with the estate roads at NH589218, and followed those past Dunmaglass Lodge, rejoining the outward route for return (6h10m) | kdbennett | 10/04/2022 |
Parked at the church at Errogie, followed the hill tracks up pass Farraline. good views towards whitebridge. Then headed towards the tump at Meall a Ghuirmain. With big J | Nozzer | 23/03/2022 |
With Nozzer. | BigJ | 23/03/2022 |
From church at Errogie, up dive to Farraline, into farmyard (signposted), sw to stand of trees, sharp left up landrover track to 400m. Scruffy track beyond this a short distance. Rain and sun, very windy. | iangalbraith | 08/02/2022 |
After fording river worked our way up young forestation. Ground pretty mushy in places and the November sun in our eyes but easily accessible and great view at summit. Followed path signs once at the river. Excellent day with Gmac14 x | elizyanne | 14/11/2021 |
Self and dog, from Farraline. Park at Errogie church. Using a bike would save much time, you could get a mountain bike most of the way to the top. | Invicta14 | 17/06/2021 |
From the main entrance to Dumnaglass, then wind farm track. At the bridge, joined the hill track towards Beinn Mheadhoin. At the top gate, a sort of steep grassy path then steep mown heather (how?) to the top deer fence, left to a corner strainer where you can get through the fence. Heathery shite, then nice terrain higher up. Fine views from summit. Nice going down the SE ridge, small path, to gate, then 2nd gate to track, NW to river crossing, fine in dry weather. Across dam, up grassy area to pheasant pens, then baby trees and heather on ridge line, then W to join soggy ATV track. This expires by a fence, gate to W uphill, then vile boggy shite to Creag a' Chliabhain, nice summit. Easily down sinking softly into the shite. ATV track passes W of pheasant pens to join unmapped track leading to the Lodge and the outward route. | Gill | 22/04/2021 |
Parked in the churchyard at Errogie and walked around Loch Mhor to Farraline. A track from the farmhouse heads towards Meall a' Ghuirmein, so I took this until a trudge across heather was needed. Following a fence line I then went SW over Maol Chnoc, Meall Donn and Creag a ' Chliabhain, where the summit choice is a cairn or pile of turfs. The walk back to Farraline was easier, an overgrown tack zig-zagging down from between the last two tops. | summitter | 31/08/2020 |
Continued from Beinn Mheadhoin across the dam and then up the knobbly ridge to the summit. A real feeling of remoteness despite being only 15 miles from Inverness.
Fabulous setting. | Peterb | 21/12/2019 |
sometime in 2019 | VerySlowPlodder | 01/03/2019 |
From Beinn Mheadhoin, over the dam and then a direct route up the NE ridge. Return the same way. Estate workers wanted to chat.... politics, wind farm, where you from etc. Great day! Solo. | bolton | 14/02/2019 |
tick | chazzyboy19 | 29/01/2019 |
From NNW. Cycled to Balnoe then rough track up onto ridge. Descent by more direct route. | Topographer57 | 21/04/2018 |
From Errogie (church car park) via Farraline Mains & Meall Donn track. | Smudge | 26/12/2017 |
3 of 5: From Beinn Dubhcharaidh. With Sam. | ChrisR | 04/01/2017 |
Frollowing Beinn Mheadhoin, from Dam up to obvious ridge. Much new planting of native woodland to within half km from summit, deer fence crossed by well positioned gate...nice estate. Down by rough soggy track to lodge and back to road. Fine southern aspect. | N.Morters | 01/01/2017 |
Circuit of Creag a'Chliabhain and Beinn Mheadhoin from telephone box at road junction to N. Route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/meall-tarsaid-creag-and-beinn-mheadhoin.html | Gayle | 16/05/2016 |
From the road head by telephone box. Followed the estate road then becomes the wind farm road, lovely. Deep in snow though so the hill destroying equipment is silent and we walk all the way in across the burn to GR 506217, up the wood edge and straight to summit of Beinn Mheadhoin. Back down same way and across the plain and dam to gain NE ridge of Creag a' Chliabhain. Some ATV tracks available but otherwise a smowy heathery plod. Walked back out past estate lodge and the shooters inside enjoying the fruits of the days shooting. 17km round trip, 4.5 hours. | nordicstar | 15/01/2016 |
Amazing to see the lake frozen over and snow covered. Lots of grouse. A misty snowy experience . Then a long walk out. | jenx | 15/01/2016 |
On the TGO Challenge with Sue - Hill 16, on a fine day after crossing Loch Ness to Inverfarigaig. | Phreerunner | 13/05/2015 |
after Beinn Dubhchreadaidh. Aim for a gap in the cliffs beside the burn, then straight up the side of the deer fence. Descent to NE straightforward, though will soon be massive windfarm | Thearlaichdubh | 02/05/2015 |
with renee from the west road to farraline then good track, then the top.cracking sunny day. | robertphillips | 15/03/2015 |
Solo run over Creag a'Chliabhain and Beinn Mheadhoin from the north. A good scramble up to Creag a'Chliabhain from Conagleann (with careful route choice). Lots of windfarm traffic at present. | amswanston | 12/09/2014 |
From the N. Lots of windfarm building activity. Up Mheadhoin then down across dam and up to summit of Chliabhain. | AndrewFinnimore | 16/05/2014 |
Part of circuit bagging 'Beinn Mheadhoin' as well, nice days walking with some intersting terrain. Did this hill first using farm track from Farraline up most of height, easy stretch to the summit and then off the back towards Easter Aberchalder on fairly steep gradient and rocky heather. Gorge walk back towards Mheadhoin is well worth doing! | Columba | 05/07/2013 |
Ascended from the B862 via Farraline. Surprisingly good view east. | JohnW | 14/04/2011 |
Parked at Wester Aberchalder. Up from southwest. Continued on to north end of Loch Conagleann. | Alan Moore | 19/03/2009 |
a great days walking - did beinn Mheadhoin the same day. Saw mountain hare, deer and grouse. A highly recommended walk doing the 2 hills in a circuit. | hjaltland | 22/01/2009 |

Parked on B851. Very hot 1/2m walk on road and 3/4m to Farraline House. On bridal track onto long zig zag uphill and rough boulder path almost to col. Over a new BWF and to top at 13.50. | arranc | 28/07/2004 |
Solo | HFB | 22/07/2003 |
