(not ticked) Seems choice of E2, E3 and E4 and rock is rotten basalt http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=13210#maps First ascent Don Whillans 1955; more recently Dave MacLeod http://davemacleod.blogspot.co.uk/2009/10/old-man-of-storr.htmlRHW05/06/1999
With Dave Thompson & Harry Johnson. Attempted to climb the Old Man but only got about 6 metres off the deck. My climbing log reads :- Visited the Old Man of Storr & surrounding rocks. The old man wouldn't go. Got stuck halfway up another pinnacle & abseiled off, leaving behind a hemp length.ngthack21/08/1964
