The Saddle, Forcan Ridge and Sgùrr na Sgìne, Walkhighlands route | hummusg | 26/07/2023 |
Excellent solo day out | D.Hoyle | 21/04/2023 |
2/2....then dropped down to Bealach Coire Mhalagain (some snow on NW aspect but not to warrant crampons). From Bealach, path WNW to The Saddle summit, higher up path lost under snow cover, steep but quite soft so easy enough. Path back to glen from W of bealach. Slightly bizarrely, very windy again below 500m. By this route managed to avoid The Forcan Ridge (which looks awesome) but I was keen to avoid solo in winter | wychwood | 27/02/2023 |
Traverse if south glen sheil ridge, starting at the saddle including the forcan ridge and a camp below. 15hrs 30 of walking and 38km. Very tough day! | Nicky C | 29/07/2022 |
Excellent day out with Brian, Barry and the dugs. Great scramble on the ridge and quite technical route , the decent was quite relentless though but still awesome day out! | Kevthecat | 28/07/2022 |
Amazing day out with stunning views walking with Kev, Brian and H&K | Baz with H&K | 28/07/2022 |

Via Forcan ridge | Ruth | 21/03/2019 |
Trad route up to foot of Forcan ridge, then along 'dyke' into upper corrie. The exit route cannot be seen from below, so took to broad, but steepening, snow covered grass ridge on L. got very steep then angle eased and then easily to the top. From the top, the trad descent route was obvious down a worn trench and then steeply down another 'dyke' but as this involved negotiating many frictionless hoar-frosted boulders, I went back down the grassy ridge. | Isbjorn Winter Round | 08/01/2019 |
Trad route to foot of Forcan ridge, along 'dyke' and into corrie. Snowline ~ 800m, but freezing level at ~ 100m - whole approach on sheet-ice-ridden ground and hoar covered rocks - making for extremely slow going - far too slow for the short hours of daylight available | Isbjorn Winter Round | 24/12/2018 |
With Sam, Deepa and Dave. | mn23 | 08/09/2018 |
2nd munro of the day. Went straight up to summit which involved backtracking down last bit of Forcan ridge. Sam and Deepa joined us on summit and they descended Forcan ridge while we went straight down and met them. Sam's 100th munro. Celebration in Kintail Lodge Hotel. | dave neilson | 08/09/2018 |

With Penda. From car park at Malagan, up alongside Alt Choire Mhalagan to the wall and along this to the col. Up to trig and top and back to wall, then down the stalker's path. Very hot day. My 71st birthday - well spent! | beorwulf | 22/05/2018 |
solo with the Saddle and Sgurr na Sgine, descent via Faochag which was hard on the knees. A drizzly, greasy, and windy morning mean't it was safer to dodge the Forcan Ridge | Shutterlag | 18/05/2018 |
Trad route to foot of Forcan ridge, then along 'dyke', into corrie, across and up far ridge until it got very (too) steep on hard neve - turned back, almost there, but not quite. | Isbjorn Winter Round | 26/02/2018 |

From A87 layby a round of Sgurr na Forcan, The Saddle, Trig, Sgurr na Sgine, WT and Faochag. | rhalstead | 22/09/2016 |
Climbed solo. Started at Malagan Bridge (Glen Shiel). Stalkers path via Bealach na Craoibhe to foot of Forcan Ridge. Ascending the ridge to climb numerous summits (Sgurr nan Forcan, The Saddle E top, The Saddle, The Saddle trig point, The Saddle W top, Spidean Dhomhuill Bhric, Sgurr Leac nan Each). Descended north along ridge towards Sgurr a' Gharg Gharaidh before dropping east down a steep grassy gully into Gleann Undalain. Picked up path (faint at first) heading down glen to Shiel Bridge before heading down road to Ratagan hostel. Return on bike to Malagan Bridge to collect car. Weather dry, warm, mostly sunny, with some mist lower in the valleys, particularly in late afternoon (a partial cloud inversion). Superb climbing on a spectacular and rugged mountain. Scrambling on Forcan Ridge is exposed but not difficult, though wouldn't be pleasant in wind or rain. Views to Ben Nevis, Skye, Torridon. Time ~ 8 hours. | jamessteel100 | 18/08/2016 |
An evening ascent with Brian R. Came the easy way! | Play2End | 15/06/2016 |
Fantastic views all around. Once the summit is reached you see the trig . Started on A87 you see the path up into the col. At the ridge start you can go straight on to avoid the scramble
Once you are on the scramble you are committed to finish it | Aristotle Chip | 15/05/2016 |
