Along the forestry road from the Kirriereoch CP choosing to take a route alongside the Pillow Burn when reaching its bridge ... bad move, very wet in places. The crossing of Cross Burn was also rather tricky following a day of rainfall. Once over, the climb to Carnirock Stone and the Kirriereoch summits was far more pleasant. Then northwards to the Tarfessock tops, a minor path most of the way. Similar path to Shalloch on Minnoch and its Trig, and ATV routes up most of the way to its North Top. Just animal trods to the heathery Shalloch, then NW to the unclassified road and a long road walk back to the start. 6hrs total. | summitter | 13/12/2023 |
From good roadside parking to N (NX 3806 9371). Rough ground. Onto all the tops to Tarfessock S Top, then return. | jonglew | 13/12/2022 |
Straight up from forestry track turnoff to WNW. A bit of brash to cross then on mainly sheep-mown grass to a heathery indistinct summit. | sclater | 21/03/2022 |
Up from the high point of the road. | robertphillips | 27/03/2021 |
7th hill of 9 today on my South Ayrshire completion walk climbing Kirriemore, Kirriereoch inc boundary, Tarfessock South top, Tarfessock, Shalloch on Minnoch, Caerloch Dhu to climb this much rougher (textured) domed hill. I got 545m on my gps but then spotted a subtle rise about 30m away and got a reading of 546m there. Grid ref to follow. Cairn on N side is lower by eye, continuing on to Eldrick hill. | Dazingdale | 20/05/2017 |
From parking area NX380937. Left at south end to 2nd fence post then made way to fence line on horizon, then found trods to top. | Anton | 09/05/2016 |
