R Epic! Nearly 12 hrs v hot so river crossings good Richard Tait29/05/2023
From Kinlochhourn road near west end of Loch Quoich. 10 1/2 hrs, starting at 0600. The weather was glorious and water levels low, which meant that crossing Callie Water and Abhainn Chosaidh was very straightforward. Saw a Ring Ouzel. A very long today walk, coming after hard walks inclufing Rum Cuiillin, I was shattered by the end.douglas_easton25/05/2023
From Torr Cruin.ger13/08/2022
Boat from Inverie with Iain Wilson on Calanna. Torr Cruinn pier at Camusrory. Carnoch bridge rebuilt but we stayed on west side of Carnach River. Headed up from 886977. Gruesome climb in very hot temperature. Great views from the summit. Toiled descent with plenty to drink. 8.5 hours for return boat which should have been 18.00 but left at 19.15 due to snagged rope on prop. Old Forge to refresh! Introduced to the estate owner. With John Rogerson, Reg Willis, Dangerous Dave and Ben Ruddle the warden at Knoydart Bunkhouse. Great day!bolton13/08/2022
As described by bolton. Much easier than I was expecting due to dry ground and good visibility. Great summit views. Very lucky with the weather; the next day we were caught on the hills in a thunderstorm with heavy rain! With Reg, Phil, Ben & John.Dangerous Dave13/08/2022
kayaked to camp at west head of Loch Quoich, then up the west ridge, an easy scramble up and between the slabs.jef12/08/2022
From Loch Arkaig via Craig Backastain, Meall a' Choire Dhuibh and East Top, 41km, 13 hours, terrain generally pretty good though lots of undulations.alda05/06/2022
Parked at 994035 (Loch Quoich). Calm, sunny, warm. Couldn't find the broken bridge (on return I found it further downstream than I expected), so wasted 20 minutes finding a place to cross higher up. Good progress to the dams, then followed the north side of the Allt Coire na Cruaiche, but never found much of a path and took a minor tumble on a slippery boulder in a stream. Went to the north of the large outcrop (small 800m contour on the 1:25,000), this was frustratingly slow going. On descent followed the south side of the coire which generally seemed better. Then the long plod back. 4:50 up, 4:20 down including stops.Owen B23/08/2021
Via a long walk along the north west shore of Loch Quoich as far as the Cosaidh crossing, then on a good track. Ascended the ENE ridge, wild and rugged but no difficulties that I could not bypass. I tried to cycle but had to push most of the way along the unstable shore, then could not safely get my bike across the Cosaidh.Topographer5731/07/2021
With Bob after camping near the loch. Clear and calm. By coincidence met DSM on summit. Everybody looked shagged!Play2End18/06/2021

Part of Knoydart trip on my own. Beautiful day, beset by midges early on. A very hard hill. Took all day up and down.iansm06/08/2019

Cycled up Glen Dessary on the south side of river, up to the bealach between Sgurr an Ciche and Garbh Chioch Mhor, contouring North to below Meall Choire Dhubh and then west along the ridge to the top. Watch out for slippy slab rocks, nearly slipped off a cliff. 7.5 hours in allSimon Winton02/11/2017
Alone. From Sourlies bothy.Grinner12/08/2017
A party of nine summited Ben Aden today via a boat drop off at Torr Cruinn pier. Improving weather throughout the day and we were good and fortunate to have all round views of this amazing area from the top. Cheers to Nigel for organising!Alex C14/06/2017
A grand day out initially by boat then on foot to bag Beinn an Aodainn in under 8 hours walking. Start by boat at 08:00 and back in Mallaig by 18:30.Dugswell214/06/2017
Great day in the company of some illustrious hill baggers. Two more Corbetts to go. Minch Adventures highly recommended for Mallaig to Camusrory.ngthack14/06/2017
A mass ascent facilitated by a splendid boat trip along Loch Nevis. Thanks NGThack for organising both the boat and the weather!Gill14/06/2017
Thanks to Nigel for organising the boat, A lucky weather window and a very fine summitColin Crawford14/06/2017
Thanks, Nigel! And thanks to Minch Adventures. ***Note that in 2018, the bridge at NM866965 no longer exists. Hopefully it will be replaced- it's a very long way round.***Pete R14/06/2017
Boat from Mallaig to Camusrory with Minch Adventures. Thanks to Nigel for organising a great day out!Tony J14/06/2017
From Loch Quoich . Somebody had pulled the plug out! Able to walk along the sandy shore. River crossings non existent. However, still a long walk in and out. Ascended by the north east ridge. Hard work but interesting. Did the east summit and then down the Corrie which was awkward at the top.Campbell Singer11/05/2017
Via Canadian Canoe along Loch Quoich. Put in at grid ref NH004031; the Loch level was at least 5m below that shown on the map: lifting the canoe out again was a struggle! Camped at NM933994. Ascended via NE ridge (to north of Allt Coire na Cruaiche) with spectacular views and some easy scrambling. Recommend sticking to the crest for the easiest route up to a huge boiler plate slab area. From here minor difficulties could be avoided by walking to the south of the prominent ridge (my return route); recommend sticking to the crest of the ridge though. Great views of Knoydart from the summit with Rum, Eigg and Skye beyond. Returned broadly via route of ascent due to time constraints - would have been nice to take in Meall a' Choire Duibh to form a horseshoe walk. Fantastic mountain!raffemeister27/03/2017
Overnight backpack from Strathan. Followed path to col between Sgurr na Ciche and Garbh Chioch Mhor, then contoured to join NE ridge of Sgurr na Ciche. Descended through crags to reach beallach then ascent to Meall a'Choire Dhuibh (also alternative top), rough traverse to Ben Aden E top then steep climb and final narrow ridge to reach Ben Aden (approx 7h). Returned by same route, with spectacular overnight camp on NE ridge of Sgurr na Ciche in shallow beallach below summit. Outstanding weather - warm, sunny and clear with impressive views.RobertP23/05/2016
a long walk in from Barisdale via mam Unndalain and Lochan nam Breac then up the Allt Coire na Cruaidhe. 12hrs total circuitoatcake12/06/2015
From Loch Quoich. There is now a path all the way to the mini dams except for the 1st 2km and for 500m after crossing the Abhainn Chosaidh. The path stays low close to the Loch shore. 12 hours including the 3 low Tumps and the 2 SIMs. No difficulties.jimbloomer09/07/2014
BK. Kayak from (004032) Loch Quoich to Cnoc Sheumais Bay (932992 camp), then path west to Allt Coire na Cruaiche followed to Beinn an Aodainn & return. Fine sunny warm & calm weather. Ideal kayaking conditions.Vin16/06/2014

On tour in Knoydart during the summer heat wave. Excellent rocky little mountain but I wouldn't like to do it in mist. Followed ridges from Sgurr na Ciche, dumped sacks at lochans west of Meall a Choire Dhuibh, ascended along east ridge and descended Allt Achadh a Ghlinne which was handy for a cooling dip. Camped once across the river Calnach which was a pleasent paddle.mindlessflogger11/07/2013

MC JC. On 21/10 walked in along the side of Loch Quoich. Had hoped to kayak but very windy. The ground is very rough. L. Quoich very low. Full packs. 4h to Lochan nam Breac. Camped in a beautiful spot at the head of the Loch although struggled to get tent up in the wind. Had intended to climb Ben Aden that evening but abandoned due to the weather, with driving rain. On 22/10, set off at 0650 with cloud down to 550m. No view from the top. Found a 1950s camera! Back at tent 10.30. Breakfast and set off for Sgurr a Choire-bheithe via Mam Unndalan. Hot, sweaty and midgey. Summited at 2.30 and descended of the south side of the peak. Mistake - should hve carried on along the E ridge. Evidence of a large recent rockfall. Back at tent for 4.30. Packed up and back out via L Quoich. Torture, with clouds of midges and flies making it impossible to stop. Cosaidh crossed with a little difficulty in midge hell. Car at 9pm. 14h day.Martin6622/08/2010
Climbed from Barrisdale through Gleann Unndalain. Crossed river west of Lochan nam Breac then climbed directly to summit. Returned by same route. 12 miles, 6000ft of ascent.Lionel Bidwell17/08/2010
With D Roeder. Left A Chuil 8:55 and walked up glen to pass E of Sg na C (11:55). Traversed quite easily to NE ridge & down to col. Down 50m to contour next lump, then along v rough ridge to Ben Aden in sunshine. Back same route to col (cont Sg na Ciche) dbb12/07/2010
From Coireshubh. Stalker's path to Sgurr nan Eugallt, along to Meall nan Eun, then down and up to Slat Bheinn and Sgurr a' Choire-bheithe. Down again and up to Ben Aden, then out by Loch Quoich to road and along the road to the car. Long day.mae24/05/2010
Ben Aden (NM 899986) S/F NH004033 4 night trip along Loch Quoich. Camp at start then paddle to west end of loch. Warm and sunny all day, light wind high broken cloud (perfect day). Day 2, warm but overcast, light wind. Cloud base falling all day, 2,500' by afternoon. Showers in afternoon during ascent of Ben Aden. Day 3, paddle half way back, camp on north bank of loch. Overcast with torrential showers in afternoon, warm, light winds. Day 4, paddle to start point. Moderate wind making return hard work, overcast, mild, showers.John Young01/07/2009

An 8.5km yomp along the shores of Loch Quoich to the dam at the far end, at which point you're 10m lower than the starting point! Then only another 3km of steep stuff. Then back again. A well earned tick.Aye Jimmy23/04/2003
Hired boat to Camusrory from Inverie. Dinghy ashore. No camping notices. A mile on peaty path to Carnoch and 2 miles by river to steep rough slopes leading to crags. Using hands at one point on angled slope of west ridge to top at 14.10. Heard voices and went to greet people coming up only to see a party at top of Ciche 1 1/2 miles away! Back via Mam Meadail. 15 1/4 m - 10 1/4 hrs. -arranc01/07/2000

After kipping in bealach from Slat Bheinn. Left tent over summit of Sgurr a'Choire-bheithe and continued Corbetts and Munros to Sgurr Mor, back along south shore of Loch Quioch to tent.Eddie09/07/1994
From Sgurr na Ciche, glorious wild walk over 'badlands' seemed half rock. To get back to Sourlies we retraced a bit and went down Allt A a' Ghlinne- the NW ridge looked great as an exciting way up but likely awkward down.pwheeler25/05/1993
Ascended from Inverie via Gleann Meadail, heading for Sgurr na Ciche and A'Chuil bothy .JohnW30/05/1985
From Barrisdale Bothy with Rhona Fraser. We went up the path in Gleann Unndalain. We left the path about NM902003 and descended to River Carnach which was waded. Up beside a burn and then straight up to the summit of Ben Aden. Went east to descend into Coire na Cruaiche and back along the path to the bothy. Misty on Ben Aden. Rain on and off. At one point on the ascent I was hanging on by my hands whilst Rhona used my boot for a handhold.pwbellarby02/07/1983
On Outward Bound course at Camusrory. Hike - day 1. As part of Scott and Amundsen watches led by two instructors (Oldroyd and Niels) I/we climbed Sgurr na Ciche from Camusrory and then continued over several lesser tops to Ben Aden. We met the other two watches later in the day and camped on the banks of the River Carnach.langskill17/06/1969
