Parked in Gunnerside, walked along Gunnerside Gill then a nice steep route up passing old mine workings. Then flat mostly pathless moorland to flat summit area, plenty of heather fires made the progress a little easiermatty1971b07/08/2022

From Surrender Bridge, a circular route on bridleway below Barras End to Great Pinseat, then Melbecks Moor, before returning past Old Gang Smelting Mills. Footpaths on Melbecks Moor do exist on the ground, although the burnt and cut sections of heather do disguise them at times.Fisky Boy13/07/2016

Gunnerside Gill to end of trees, up hillside to moor. Then mostly rough heather, not much in way of paths. Strange object seen about 150m from summit is grousers' grit tray on wooden poles.Aye Jimmy16/07/2015
