KF Walked around from Snailsden via the fences, the main ridge having a clear path on the N side which with the recent sunny weather was pretty dry and bouncy underfoot. Would not be so pleasant crossing the peat after a very wet spell. The whitewashed trig is on the S side of the fence at a corner with a great view down Longdendale. The corner fence post has broken at the foot allowing the fence to be easily crossed.crazy28/05/2023
6.7 mile from winscar reservoir. Pretty much an out and back as this was the last hill in the area for me. Pretty bleak place tbhThe-Z-Man29/03/2023

Cycle from home to Harden SE153036,walk on good track over res dam to shooting butts almost at summit, although you are asked to walk around (gamekeepers?) cottage at SE143031. Continuing NW then NE around boundary fence and on to Snailsden provides a good horse shoe walk.Neil Midgley15/05/2020
13 degrees, sunny, light north-westerlies, from Meltham with Miranda via Holmbridge and Riding Wood reservoir. Predictably tedious across Grains Moss but relatively dry underfoot. On to White Low.Wycombe Wanderer02/05/2020
From lay by on minor road to southeast at Carr Top. Track to ruined building then up by stream to fence corner. Followed fence to summit. Back same way. Solo.Dangerous Dave10/03/2020
Parked at SE1358400031 at bend in road. Over stile and up Longside Moss to summit then back down Wike Head to track and return to car via TP trail. 6.4k with Mart. Pleasant moorland, lots of curlew and mountain hares. Dry underfoot.John Eley19/05/2019
7.1 mile walk from Winscar reservoir, walked across dam then another, the dam of Harden reservoir north-west, followed trails up to old workings then onto Snailsden trig and Snailsden Pike End (29m Prominence) then headed south-west across rough pathless terrain up to border fence, followed this to Dead Edge End, then along fence east (quite wet) onto the top of Woodhead tunnel, followed lane across top back to road and down to car park. Both hills previously bagged in 2009, afterwards drove round to do a 4.9 mile walk on Wharncliffe Chase. Sunny/high cloud, Great views.DanTrig23/09/2018

As Moorsman but wetter underfoot.mart079729/09/2016
Parking on the road to the N in sort of lay-by, from there over Cook's Study Hill. and on the the Pillar at Snailsden, there is no path to speak of once you over Cook's Study Hill. Pillar has had an attempt on the spider, other than that good. From here over to Dead Edge End, where there is no path! so tough going.Pillar is in good condition very isolated area, nice views, back via boundary fence and back over Cook's Study Hillgriefmiester15/09/2016
My last loggable Hill in Derbyshire (having completed Tumps earlier) and the 7th and final top of the day on a route from Fairholmes visitor centre to Dunford Bridge Via Upper Hey , Howden Edge, Margery Hill, Outer Edge, Horse Stone Naze and Hoar Stones-Howden edge Co. boundary. Dropped down around abandoned building crossing the A628. I used a Track to get me close then directly up on bearing to Trig pillar. I explored ground to the South. I Followed fence before veering off to intercept the road leading to Dunford bridge where I finished. I caught the last bus to Penistone and then a bus to Dodworth where I stopped over at the Ibis Sryles hotelDazingdale23/08/2016
Parked at the head of the Woodhead Reservoir and then followed the TPT and then a quarry track up onto Round Hill. From here headed up north to pick up a faint path leading directly to the trig.Wheelsy18/08/2016
6/6 last of another great day in peak district (Newcombe drive/Heaton park/Blackstone Edge/Wimberry Moss/Hoarstone Edge/Dead end Edge)Fergalh20/03/2016
As per moorsman- great view down LongdendaleMark Sims15/03/2016
A short walk before more rain - Park on the A628 at Salter's Brook Bridge - Slow going across Longside Moss to Upper Dyke Head - at Wike Head we go wrong seeing what we think to be a trig we find a sighting pillar for the rail tunnel below. Retracing our steps we follow the South Yorks / Derbyshite boundary fence to the summit of Dead Edge End (& Derbyshire Trig) - We descend quickly under threatening skies.briandavies31/12/2015
With Jo, from Dunford Bridge: Windle Edge then moorsman’s route to Dead Edge End. Continuing alongside fence to Snailsden Pike End, Snailsden Trig and returning via Snailsden Quarry, Harden and Winscar Reservoirs. Weather; sunny, breezy, warm, good visibility.amblerbob11/09/2015
Parked by end of the Windle Edge road, then walk to Lady Cross -> Round Hill -> Hoar Stones -> Horse Stone Naze -> Outer Edge -> Margery Hill -> High Stones, then attempted to find Upper Hey (proved quite hard from above!) before going back the way I came. Back to the car then a quick trip up to Dead Edge End too before coming home (thanks moorsman for the suggested route :) )the_adam28/05/2015
With Cabe, nice enough circuit from the track off the road to the south.simon and co04/05/2015
A VERY EASY ASCENT! Parking available at the start of the old mines access track, 200m north of the junction of the Dunford Bridge road and the A628. Follow this good, solid track for half a mile and take a grassy track heading right at 90 degrees, passing south of a prominent brick structure. Either carry on up the valley on an intermittent track to the acute bend in the fence or take the track uphill just past the structure and turn left at the top to the fence. From the bend in the fence follow the north side for 200m until it veers away from it. Cross a natural bridge back to the fence itself and follow a path to the summit. 75 minutes return without getting your feet wet! A doddle!moorsman18/02/2015

Climbed from the south, not too difficult to find as the fenceline is visible on the skyline from quite a distance. Can't comment on the view as the clouds were bust emptying themselves on me!!JohnStoneham28/04/2012

From Windleden, hard going in foot deep snow! Returned via Pikenaze Hillcitygent28/01/2012
Probably one the least walked hill in the Peak District maybe because there's not really a path to it, cut across from Snailsden Trig, nice quiet hills and didn't have as much bog problems as I thought I would've.DanTrig02/08/2009
From Ramsden Reservoir, which was drained at the time. Wet and very windy. Walked across to trig on Snailsden, then along ridge and down to Ramsden.Aye Jimmy09/11/2008
