After Mount Famine, on a warm but windy walk from Hayfield to Castleton. A steep pull up here, then a steep walk down the other side. From here we took the very easy slabbed path to Brown Knoll.thesweetcheat08/09/2021
Joined the Pennine Way at Upper Booth and passed several hundred Duke of Edinburgh Award kids struggling up Jacob's Ladder under heavy packs and a strong sun. We bagged Kinder Scout, the Sandy Hays trig and Mill Hill before heading down to Hayfield for a well earned pint at the Sportsman. The way back involved crossing the River Kinder just opposite the pub and getting onto the Pennine Bridleway up to Mount Famine and South Head before heading NE to Brown Knoll. A fine pavement next took us down Golborne and across the Chapel Gate ROW back to the car park between Barber Booth and Upper Booth. Great walk ... 7.5 hrs including a 45 minute pub stop.summitter01/07/2021

13 mile walk from lay-by on road east of Slackhall. Along easy Pennine Bridleway up to South Head, re-bagging South Head and Mount Famine then descending to River Sett, then along footpaths towards Oaken Clough. Then we followed a surprisingly good trail along edge of Kinder to Red Brook. Along to Kinder Downfall which was blowing upwards, then along Pennine Way to Kinder Low trig and excellent flagstone trail across Brown Knoll, back down to the lay-by. 805m of ascent. A few people about on this sunny/windy day. Good views across to Wales. Earlier that day bagged Eccles Pike.DanTrig29/03/2021
