A wonderful walk along the interesting ridge between Grasmere and Great Langdale, locating the many Synges between Red Bank and Blea Rigg from High Close (NY 336 052), just space for a couple of cars – if you are early! Summits visited included Silver How, Lang How, Swinescar Pike, Little Castle How, Great Castle How, Castle How (Raw Pike), Blea Rigg and Whitegill Crag. A splendid day with snow patches and classic views of the major Lakeland peaks clad in snow! 15.6km with 800m ascent in 5h30m. (S)silveracorn_alan07/12/2020
From Little Langdale Pass, Oakhowe Crag, Harry Place, Silver How, Lang How, Swinescar Pike, Little Castle Howe, Castle Howe, Great Castle Howe, Whitegill Crag, Stickle Tarn, Pike Howe. Descent of N ridge of Oakhowe Crag not recommended - unavoidable band of snail pace FIGHT through a jungle of Juniper.Isbjorn02/10/2020

Came over from Tarn Crag (506m). I've no idea why this is a summit. There's lots of higher and more significant hilly prominences in the area. The Un-named higher hill to the northwest is a prime example, so I bagged it on the way back. Solo.Dangerous Dave24/09/2018

From Great Castle How. Impressive Gully. On to Tarn Crag.Wycombe Wanderer08/04/2017
If approaching from the Dungeon Ghyll path there is an intermittent, but often clear, track all the way to the summit. If approaching from Tarn Crag it is best to try and link up with this path to save a lot of cross-fell walking which, in summer, could be quite vegetated.moorsman07/04/2017
