3/6 Birthday walk - Up to Yoke (revisit) via Dubs Reservoir, then down to Rainsborrow Crag and drop down contouring round to Castle Crag, Piked Hawes, Rowantree Knotts and Scale Knotts. Interesting picking route over all of those. Back over Garburn Pass. Five nice Synges but a bit late for birthday tea - oops .nickywood103/09/2021
Solo. Piked Howes, Castle Crag, Rowantree Knotts, Scale Knotts, Rainsbarrow Crag (via steep N ridge), Yoke, Garburn Pass, Sour Howes, Capple Howe from Kentmere. A fine cold spring day.Vin16/03/2020

With Bryher, parked up from the church, once past The Nook and approaching Badger Rock headed up the burn falling from Piked Howes, found old cart track further up and followed to close to top. Onto Castle Crag easily, then wet ground and walls to Rowantree Knotts, then after boggy ground Scale Knotts. Dropped with some thought through bracken and juniper to minor road at Scales, then road back to car.nordicstar20/10/2017

Parking (about 10 cars) alongside the village hall .... but these places fill up quickly. For a legal alternative, drive beyond the village hall to a sharp left hand bend. Straight ahead, through a gate, is a public road (shown on a notice as such) to Hartrigg. A large notice tells you that there is no parking beyond this gate. This is not true. There are plenty of parking places round the first cattle grid, and numerous others alongside the road. No problems with turning either.moorsman17/06/2015

From Kentmere church. Careful route planning needed due to the large number of walls without gates in the area.JohnStoneham04/02/2014
Synges seem so arbitrary. Why this lump and not others nearby? After Piked Howes.Martin R30/12/2013
With Jo, walk from Troutbeck: up Garburn Road to Garburn Pass, then alongside fence onto Buck Crag, Castle Crag, Piked Howes, Rowantree Knotts, returning along the Garburn Road. Weather; overcast, mizzle at first, dryer later, good visibility.amblerbob20/09/2013
