From Swindale, up beside Gowther Crag and across to use track to Scam Matthew, then curve round to cross beck and directly up Tongue Rigg, back via Seat Robert to pick up Rowantree Crag and Langhowe Pike (Synge) before contouring down to the valley farm. Centre and most rugged of the 3 crags has a cairn and a holly tree on the north slope. Only Rowan tree on the moor that I saw is on a similar looking small crag about 900m east. (Can be seen from west side of Haskew Beck near the end of the walk)

If just climbing this top there is a small parking area at Truss Gap, despite the warning notices that there isn't. Cross the footbridge and a good track leads uphill.
