Took bus to Threlkeld from Keswick (8:55am, 15 mins, £3.50) which cut out a big chunk of up and down. Approach from Threlkeld. Solo ascent from car park at old Threlkeld Station by main road to join old coach road at Wanthwaite ascending open fell by first following fence/wall after gate near old mineral line. Climbed over two cairns on unnamed hill to west of Threlkeld Knotts before reaching summit of Threlkeld Knotts and then Clough Head via inclined path at base of Red Screes scree slope. On a round of 8 hills from NT car park at Legburthwaite (£7 for the day, machine broke otherwise would not have parked here): Stybarrow Dodd, Watson's Dodd, Great Dodd, Randerside, Little Dodd, Calfhow Pike, Clough Head and finally White Pike. Ascended ridge via Stanah Gill to Sticks Pass then headed north. Final hill of the day before descending to the Coach Rd. An epic 18 miler with Karen. Parked the camper near Lucy's Wood (Dockray) the night before. Walked to Clough Head via the Old Coach Road, then Great Dodd / Watson's Dodd / Stybarrow Dodd / Raise / Whiteside / Helvellyn / Catstye Cam (via Swirral edge)... then back to the camper via Helvellyn / Whyiteside / Raise and Hartside.
