OMC Meet at Strawberry Cottage, on the Saturday, walked with six others (Ian & Mhairi McCabe, Rob Trusswell, Sharon Cooke, Andy Moffat and Sara Eddie). Walked up Coire Ghaidheil then along the path on the north eastern slopes. There was snow from the bleacach between Ciste Dhubh and Mam Sodhail, once ascending the final dome, we were exposed to the southerly winds and my hands began to feel it. We made use of the big shelter on top, before making the true summit 45m SE of the shelter. Then retreated to the lower shelter SW of summit for lunch. Had planned to get the two southern Munro Tops, but the wind was too cold, so returned same way. A head torch had to be used for the final 200m of the track back to the cottage, 9hrs.chillyman819/11/2022

After an attempt on this last December, aborted due to piled up snow-drift on the final summit ascent, I finally got this one done in a solo clockwise loop from River Affric car park. 3.5mi walk in along the path on the north of Loch Affric, then up the path to Coire Leachavie, up the Coire headwall, then the summit. Back via the ridge and Sgurr na Lapaich. Total time 6h 5min.mproudfoot15/05/2022

Finally to Shurr na Lapaich after many years wanting. Dross weather tho. From Affric CP to Affric lodge and good track to 500m. Rough walking to ridge path at 800m. Continued over Mullach Cadha Rainich to Mam Sodhail in deteriorating weather, not the improvement forecast. After Carn Eighe took the next five MTs in rain, hail and low cloud. Dropped off ridge before Tom a Choinnich steeply to lower burn in spate. No crossing back to Affric lodge so all way down left side of burn to road by new hydro scheme and a mile back up valley to van.nordicstar22/10/2020

Climbed solo. Walked from Glen Affric hostel down valley to Coire Ghaidheil bridge (where I had left my bike previous day). Climbed up stalkers path to Bealach Coire Ghaidheil and thence continued on sloping/traversing path to the north-east. This eventually peters out in a steep rocky area to the SW of Mam Sodhail, where I continued the traverse (rough going!) to reach the bealach south of Carn Eighe. Ascended Carn Eighe. Originally intended to continue north to Beinn Fhionnlaidh, but time was short, so I returned south to bealach, thence southwards over Mam Sodhail and Ciste Dhubh (fine cairn) before heading west to meet the ascent path. Retraced my ascent back down to Glen Affric, cycling the last 2 miles to the hostel. Weather dry but mist over 1000m stubborn to clear until very late in the day. Excellent views east from Carn Eighe and saw a brocken spectre on Mam Sodhail. These are giant, remote mountains - very friendly in benign weather, but could be horrible in bad conditions! jamessteel10021/08/2016

Alan and Chris going on ahead as I plod slowly upward, Alan with agenda of a number of high end GPS surveys data from various summits and cols. Notice the land the other side of the little indentation to the SE of the big round cairn looks marginally higher. Find a mimi cairn there and learn later that Alan had built it and that is 30-40cm higher than the cain base. Continue on to Carn Eighe and return back over Mam Sodhail because Chris was intending to go that way despite wanting to head out on the eastern Murdos ridge.vegibagger15/07/2014

Solo. From car park at road end in Glen Affric. After ascending Creag Coire nan Each. I went on to Stob Coire Coulavie, a deleted top, and Ciste Dubh, another deleted top. There are two tops on Ciste Dubh, the first having a cairn and a very steep drop on the east side. The second has no cairn and is about 1m higher. My 2003 edition of 1:50,000 map gives the height of the latter as 1108m. There is only a very small drop before the final climb up Màm Sodhail begins. A very fine walk but mist grazing tops & freezing wind. Then out & back to Beinn Fhionnlaidh (which required some willpower!) Passed underneath summit of Carn Eighe to reach Mam Sodhail.
