Also took in Sgurr nan Saighead then descended and walked out via the long Allt a' Chruinn valley. Sting in the tail is the prolonged stepped descent down to the villagewychwood04/03/2019

Cairngorm Club overnight meet. With Eilidh Scobbie and Marj Ewan. After ascending Sgurr nan Spainteach and Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe from Bealach an Lapain. We continued to the summit of Sgurr na Carnach 21:40 and then Sgurr Fhuaran, reached at 23:00. On ascending the latter we met a runner coming down who was attempting to do the South Cluanie Ridge and the North as well in 24 hours. There were three others with him. This did not seem very sensible given the forecast of bad weather. By now it was getting difficult to see. We descended and slightly above the col with Sgurr nan Saighead stopped at 23:30 and made a bivvy for the night. It was a stony and windy spot. Forecasts had been variable. I had expected much rain in the evening, but in fact there were only a few drops of rain towards the end. At 05:00 we set off again, descending down the glen NE.pwbellarby21/06/2008

From Shiel Bridge I ascended Beinn Bhuidhe, Sgùrr nan Saighead and Sgùrr Fhuaran. As arranged I met a friend on the summit of Sgùrr Fhuaran. She had got there sometime earlier but had a bivvy shelter with her. We decided there was not enough time to continue over Sgùrr na Carnach so went back down the WNW ridge of Sgùrr Fhuaran ,the way she came up. However, we found a somewhat better way to Shield Bridge through the bracken and wetness that fills the glen bottom.pwbellarby17/08/2007

having camped at W end of loch Claunie with Jasper the Dalmatian, I'd diven down to a bit befor Shiel bridge and up to the W end of South Glenshiel ridge, all the way W-E to Creag a'Mhaim, down to camp and next day E-W all along the brothers and sisters in too hot weather and not enough water had me skimming insects off the top of small summit ridge lochans to drink from. Finally steeply off the W edge of the Five Sisters and stuck out my thumb and fortunately someone stopped and relieved my tired legs to get a lift back to my Citroen Xantia. 13 new Munros in 2 days.vegibagger17/05/1999

My first traverse of the Five Sisters ridge, W to E. Despite a good forecast the sky turned leaden and its base sometimes touched this summit. I had views all along the ridge, though, and about 5 miles distant. I started at Kintail Lodge, got to the A87 at Invershiel, and walked back to Torrlaoighseach before getting a lift. This was 12.5 miles- I describe a way off the roads (done in 1991) in the log for Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe and was only 13 miles.pwheeler21/05/1984
