With John from Morvich. Along stalker's path to Bealach a Sgairne, then drop down zig zag path to skirt the south shore of Loch a Bhealaich, then headed directly North up Sgurr Gaorsaic - roughly 470m to the summit although the snowline started at around 600m and the top 100m was tough going - the snow sometimes up to our knees. Stunning views in all directions from the summit, with low cloud below us adding to the atmosphere. The small lochan at the top was under snow so had to be careful to avoid that. Returned the same route and got back to the car at Morvich MR car park just 6h 30mins after setting off - well before it got dark enough for the head torches. | mproudfoot | 29/12/2023 |
From Strawberry Cottage at the east end of Glen Affric. Very poor day in the final throes of Storm Babet. Winds dropped as day went on allowing for ascent. Reached summit in gently falling snow. | sarahk | 21/10/2023 |
From parking at the Morvich centre. Lovely early morning walk through the wooded area and then Gleann Choinneachain to the Bealach which gives a great panorama. Steady but steep walk to the summit. Finally met Ian and Liz Galbraith after we missed each other early morning. Clear conditions made this an easy just over 12 mile walk and 6.75 hours. Solo. | bolton | 28/05/2023 |
Just as Bolton. Nice to meet him, lifted my spirits on a long walk! | iangalbraith | 28/05/2023 |
During three-night camp w Dave W from Glen Affric. Up by fence from S, left rucksacks at bealach to E. Dry, light wind, decent views but a bit hazy. | Rounsfell | 02/04/2023 |
From Morvich near the road end. Very good path all the way over Bealach an Sgairne and on to Loch a' Bhealaich, then pathlessly straight up by the fence posts, initially quite steep and tussocky, much better from the 600m contour. Returned by same route. | Owen B | 22/06/2022 |
With John on gorgeous cloudless day. A long one! | Veryhappybunny | 01/09/2021 |

Cycled from Killilan then path to top of Falls of Glomach and on east then south up the west bank of the river. River becomes slower and deeper higher up, had to cross it barefoot to gain the north ridge. Summit is surrounded by higher summits in every direction, amazing setting but no long views and definitely no phone signal. Descended over Sguman. A warm, cloudless day with dry and clear air, but 28C in the sun when I got back down into Glen Elchaig. | Topographer57 | 28/06/2019 |
From Morvich. | BLACKHILL | 30/04/2018 |
Solo, running fr Morvich via A' Ghlas Bheinn. Sky now clear and some good views from here, though flat top spoils foreground. Pondered Ceathreamhnan, nearby, but Fhada was already going to make it a long day so headed for that. Retraced steps SSW to path then straight up NE ridge of B Fhada. | NorfolkPT21 | 17/07/2017 |
With Jude, from Alltbeithe YH. Went on up to Sgurr bam Ceathreahmnan afterwards. | Grinner | 16/07/2017 |
From Morvich on drizzly day. Good path over Beallach an Sgairne, visited the other mounds near the summit - don't appear much lower in height. Summits in cloud. | RobertP | 02/07/2017 |
Long long walk. Weather was poor, high winds and light rain. From Morvich. Poor visibility, but I took a hunch the rusty fence posts might lead to the top. This wasn't mentioned in my SMC book. Despite not raining heavy, one burn was swollen leading to a long jump. Feet was very very wet. | Jhimmy | 15/10/2016 |
A great walk from Innis a'Chro with spectacular cloud formations lingering in the glens. The repairs to the path over the Bealach an Sgairne are holding up very well, and it's great to see the new woodland maturing. Sgurr Gaorsaic is very hemmed in by big hills but the views are still excellent. The easy going makes this a quicker walk than expected, with plenty of time to loaf around on the summit admiring the views. | Gill | 25/06/2016 |

From Morvich through the Gates of Affric in excellent snowy conditions. Felt like a real expedition in remote country. Trailbreaking once off the Munros trade route and didn't see a soul all day. In my Top 10 hill days ever in Scotland. | benalder284 | 01/02/2016 |
From Morvich on the up and down track. Why do people worry about getting their feet a little wet? | Martin R | 22/05/2015 |

Solo from Morvich on a beautiful June day. Over the Bealach an Sgairne & down past Loch a Bhealaich, then straight up the interminable grassy slopes of Sgurr Gaorsaic. I'd rather stupidly bypassed the summit on the way to Sgurr nan Ceathramhnan on my Munros round 11 years earlier. Continued on that same route as far as An Socach & then down the path to Alltbeithe for a breather before retreating back over the bealach to Morvich. It's hard to ever tire of Glen Affric... | NotReallyABagger | 14/06/2012 |
cycled from end of public road glen affric, to the hostel, then round of an socach, mullach an dheiragain, squrr nan ceathreamnan, and squrr gaorsaic in boiling hot sun. | robertphillips | 26/05/2012 |

A big day. Spent an hour on its summit as Jake just collapsed and fell asleep on the summit. He was dog tired. Company: Jake the Black Lab. | iandesbottes | 10/05/2009 |
From Morvich; through the Gates of Affric. Windy, heavy showers. With the F.C and S. | The Captain | 01/07/2008 |
MC JC MH DS. Parked well up glen in forestry at car park. Day with decent views. Through the Bealach an Sgairne, the fantastic pass that gives access to the W end of G. Affric. and then direct ascent. First time back in this pass since 1984. | Martin66 | 30/12/2007 |
staying Albeithe, up Corbett Surr Gaorsaic then up on the Surr na Ceathreamhnan, all the way out to all the NW murdo tops inc some fabulous big boulders one of which was white quarzite. Back contouring around two corries on north side and back to the col W of An Socach when tirednes gnawed to my brain pleading with me not to go up W to collect the other Murdo top, but I just had to, knowing I,d regrtit if I didn't so I did and am very grateful. Another great solo day on the heights. | vegibagger | 25/07/2007 |

Willpower over exhaustion -nice evening with no weather or daylight excuse for not forcing my tired legs up this remote Corbett as I was so close. 8pm on the calm summit towards the end on a huge 15 hour day. Just back to bike now - a 'mere' 8km away from where I was stood. | Chris Pearson | 10/08/2002 |
On way back to Dorusdain after Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan and several Tops. Then via Bealach an Sgairne. End of long day. | Aye Jimmy | 27/08/2000 |
Solo Stayed in the bunkhouse in Camus Luinie in Glen Elchaig and cycled up to the Falls of Glomach track. Up to the col with Sgur nan Ceathreamhain and up to Sgurr Gaorsaic. Had a skinny dip in the river on the descent Great day out | fergie | 22/07/2000 |

Long walk in from Morvich | gman | 09/09/1999 |
Waited for bad weather to pass, then left Alltbeithe at midday. Gleann Gaorsaic felt very wild today. We went up its N ridge, down its SW side. In mist at times, but we got a view; showers, wet snow on top. With brother, Pete | pwheeler | 26/05/1999 |

Munro top clear up from Morvich, Ben attow and Corbett Sgurr Gaorsaic. | Eddie | 02/06/1995 |
Solo. Slept in car where track up Gleann Lichd starts. Left car at 05:10 and walked on path up Gleann Chòinneachain to Bealach An Sgàirne. This is much evidence of path maintenance which is in progress. I walked down the path to the south end of Loch a’ Bhealaich, meeting a lone foreign walker who had camped by the loch and was now walking to Morvich. I walked to the summit of Sgùrr Gaorsaic mostly following fence posts which mark a boundary to reach summit. Descended the north ridge of Sgùrr Gaorsaic. Crossed Abhainn Gaorsaic at the point where it leaves Loch Gaorsaic by stepping stones – some slightly awkward. I saw an otter (or was it a mink?). Walked on a good path, which I had seen whilst descending Sgùrr Gaorsaic. This leads to a point just to the east of the top of Bealach an An Sgàirne where it joins the main path across Bealach an An Sgàirne – junction marked with small cairn. This path is not marked on 1:50,000 map. I returned via outward route. | pwbellarby | 08/08/1993 |
