From Dalrigh. Over the railway bridge then straight up to corner of forestry and followed the fence almost to the top. On to Creagan Soilleir. | TRG318 | 10/03/2024 |
With Millie the lab from Dalrigh. Follow path briefly SE to bridge over the river, then E to railway bridge. Immediately after the railway bridge, headed SSW directly up Fiarach - steep, wet, tussocky grass made it a bit of a slog, with the snowline starting around 450m - slushy snow lower down. Skirted E of Lochan Fiarach and then followed the broken fence to the summit. Totally clagged over so no views, so took a photo of the dog on the summit and then started the descent. Instead of returning same way, I followed the deer fence back past Lochan Fiarach and continued following it W steeply down to the land rover track. Followed track back down to railway bridge and back to the car the same way we came. Total time 2h 40min | mproudfoot | 31/12/2023 |
R Quick trip up from Dalrigh | Richard Tait | 31/05/2023 |
Track to fence line on W side of hill gains height much more easily than direct slog up northern slopes. At top of forestry ducked under fence to avoid steepest slope and made rising diagonal traverse. Gained dolerite sill at W end superb summit views, descended plateau on E side over all minor tops and past the 2 lochans. Very photogenic. Descended NW slopes. | Nick Canute | 28/02/2023 |
Standard route from Dalrigh. Over the river, track west to the railway bridge, straight up pathlessly to the fence, faint path by the fence west of Lochan Fiarach to the pleasing rocky summit standing proud above the boggy, tussocky plateau. Cloud base around 550m, lowering to below 500m, so very poor views again. Retraced steps. With TH. | Owen B | 16/02/2023 |

Up from Craw Knowe. | Adrian | 29/08/2022 |
Six mins slower than Naismith. Overcast, warmish at first, light breeze. From Dalrigh parking, up directly from railway footbridge, then down following edge of plantation to W and back along cart-track through native woodland. | Rounsfell | 17/08/2022 |
solo. another video trial | langskill | 29/07/2022 |
From Dalrigh car park, over the railway bridge and directly upwards. Nice top area in the sunshine, like today. Watchout for rusty fence wire. | Jhimmy | 29/04/2022 |
From Dalrigh car park, nice views making it worthwhile. Just under 4 hours. | colazione | 20/04/2022 |
Solo walk from Dalrigh | amswanston | 11/04/2022 |
From Dalreigh via Meall Odhair. Returned down mine track to bridge over river, then WHW to gate, right over railway and pretty much straight line to summit over surprisingly dry terrain. Remnants of Caledonian pines initially. Graham number 110 - half way! | MichaelF | 29/03/2022 |
A good walk to break the journey from Strathdon to Inverneil. Good track to start, then easy ATV track and faint path following the fence all the way to the top of the hill. Big hills murky but mine was clear. The pine wood seems a bit less dense compared with last time I was here; too many sheep chewing on it? | Gill | 24/03/2022 |
Very wet day, climbed with Dad, Dave M, Paul H and James | amcculloch | 02/01/2022 |
Solo trip. Cold and windy with frequent light showers. | Invicta14 | 21/10/2021 |
With Nicky Creadland and her two dogs. We drove from the OMC cottage in Crianlarich to the car park at Dalrigh, headed over the river then railway and stayed on the track up into Gleann Auchreoch. Once we met the forestry gate (with ped gate and stile) we turned left and followed the fence up the steepish ground to the ridge and over to the dyke onto the summit with a tiny cairn (6 rocks).
Cloudy above 800m on the northern and western hills but great views south and below the cloud, 5hrs all in. | chillyman8 | 18/07/2021 |
From Dalrigh, up Gleann Auchreoch track to red gate, followed fence up and round to Fiarach, over to Creagan Soilleir and back down to track via narrow gap in trees beside a burn at NN 33339 25465. | TRG318 | 08/07/2021 |
From the Artisan cafe, along the Gleann Auchreoch track, up by the forestry fence to Fiarach and over the high ground to Creagan Soilleir, cutting the corner to the top of the forestry on the way back. Superb autumn colours in the woods, contrasting with the Scots pines. A real treat. | Nick Down1 | 11/10/2020 |
From Dalrigh car park, as per SMC book. Off the track, there is vague path all way to top. | willyross | 23/08/2020 |
11.2 miles 1815ft walk, start at By-The-Way campsite Tyndrum, West Highland Way to Ath Chonachar take track up Gleann Auchreooch forest gate, follow fence line up to Fiarach, return same route to Tyndrum. | stephenbuda | 20/08/2020 |
From Tyndrum, across the Drochaid Bhan, along the forestry track and then following the fence all the way. Returned the same way. | Mark Jackson | 30/07/2020 |
From Dalrigh, as by Pete R and others. With brother Pete J. Much nicer than I anticipated, with a start along a good forest road with some Caledonian forest. The promised S gale wasn't so bad, only on the summit was balance difficult and the dyke gave good shelter. Packed snow in the hollows on the moor, on approach. Good views if a little grey. | pwheeler | 23/03/2020 |
From Dalrigh: over the railway, then along the track for a mile until the edge of the forest. Then up beside the fence, all the way to the top. | Pete R | 16/11/2019 |
Started at Falls of Falloch. Took a track opposite the car park entrance till it ended at the railway line. Hopped over the railway fence and up the flank of Clach na Briton. Tough terrain, but aided by frozen ground and bright sunshine. Eventually got to Cruachan Cruinn then headed NE to Creagan Soilleir. Mostly frozen bog, as was the continuation to Fiarach, with a helpful old fence line to follow much of the way. Wanted to do a stretch of the West Highland Way as it was such a lovely day, so took in Craw Knowe en route, tracking the forest edge for a couple of kms. Once on WHW I went towards Glasgow, eventually getting back to the Falls of Falloch. Had to go past the Falls and cross the river by balancing on a useful fallen tree. | summitter | 15/11/2019 |
Paul off up Ben Challum, so I walked up road to Dalrigh and headed up Fiarach. Superb views on cloud free, sunny day. Needless to say had a short wait for lift home. | cjo | 12/05/2019 |
Craw Knowe, Cruachan Cruinn and Fiarach from car park on A82 approx 2km SW of Crianlarich. Climbed through mist to see the tops, camped fairly close to Fiarach summit. Very wet underfoot. | RobertP | 21/12/2018 |
