From Craig, up the Allt a' Chonais to Bealach Bhearnais then up the ridge. Across to Sgurr a' Chaorachain and along the top to Bidean an Eoin Dearg. Then down the very steep northern slopes of Sgurr a' Chaorachain to the glen and back to the road. Started off cloudy, finished sunny with very good visibility. 24.7kmPiranhaFish30/07/2023

Sgurr Choinnich and Sgurr a Chaorachain, solo from Craig. 6am start with head torch on. 1.5hrs and 4.1miles along the track, I ascended directly up Sgurr a Chaorachain. I had decided to do the circuit clockwise to get the steep pathless slope of Sgurr a Chaorachain out of the way first and in my opinion, it's by far the best way to do the two. By 9am, I was on the summit of Sgurr a Chaorachain - the weather was dry and a little warm - the top of this summit was clear but Sgurr Choinnich was covered in cloud at that point.45mins later, I was on the summit of Sgurr Choinnich which was now cloud-free, but Sgurr a Chaorachain was now cloud-covered. Good timing I guess. Had great views over to the Cheesecake. Decent descent down to Bealach Bhearnais (just a few easy sections of hands-on rock) and then a straight-forward (if not wet in places) path back down to the main track. Didn't need to use the wire bridge as the burn was easily crossed, and was back at the car by 12:05pmmproudfoot15/09/2021

Solo, running fr Craig, via Maoile Lunndaidh, Bidein an Eoin Deirg & Sg a' Ch. Glorious sunny day w great views. Feeling fit and making fast progress, though having to drink a lot of water in heat and sunshine. Was still contemplating adding Feartaig to an already long day, but after careful descent of W ridge, w no problems on supposed three tricky rock steps, I suddenly trod badly on a tussock near the col and twisted my ankle! Painful half-jog, half-limp all the way back to the car (5.7M, nearly 2h!). Car 2:30pm with relief, protein bar under car where cooler, and ankle caused problems for next few weeks on and off.NorfolkPT2122/07/2021

Easy ascent from campsite, woke up early and due to a cracking hangover went back to my tent and bed as weather not too good , cloud low. Woke up at 10.30 and headed up. Rewarded with sunshine on summit and some awesome views. Martin's tent in the night decided to head off with him in it so we had to pitch it with my guidelines and pegs. It worked as he was still there sadly in the morning Company: Martin Stewart.iandesbottes05/07/2008

en route to RBS HWC weekend at Torridon; I stayed in a B&B in Lochcarron the night before; I walked in from Craig; it was an unpleasant windy and wet day; I met another walker who was descending from Bealach Bhearnais having turned back because of the conditions; I traversed the ridge in cloud/mist and was expecting to consider the merits of visiting the most easterly Munro Top as there is supposed to be a tricky bit between it and the preceeding summit; however, as I descended I dropped below the cloud and could see Loch Monar below and no more ridge; I double checked my location with back bearings to recognisable points on the shores of the loch and confirmed that I was off the end of the ridge; I retraced my steps westwards and was never sure when I had reached each of the intervening summits, but all were visited twice - on the way out and then again on the return; on the descent to Bealach Bhearnais I had to lie down on a number of occasions to avoid the buffeting from the wind.langskill26/05/2006

Solo expedition 9:45 - 16:15. Biked from Craig up steep hill to start of path (10:30). Cloudy but dry. Had to go directly up corrie because of stalking. Then traversed Sgurr a'Chaorachain twice and returned back down corrie. dbb14/10/2002

With Dave Jill and Steve form A890 and Bealach Bhearnais. Reached the summit when a Storm from the south west hit us with heavy rain and high winds. Pressed on east as the forecast was for it to pass but we end up missing the turning off the main ridge and started heading for Sgurr na Conbhaire. By the time I realised the mistake we were battered and soaked and poor visibility and fresh snow meant we couldn't find the turning for Sgurr a Chaorachain. Returned to the Bealach were the sun came out and wind dropped. Walked out feeling we had given it our best shot but defeated by the timing of the storm.mindlessflogger21/12/2001

The usual route from Craig with Smithy on a hot & sunny day. Up to Bealach Bhearnais, then E over Sgurr Choinnich, Sgurr a'Chaorachain as far as Bidean an Eoin Deirg, a fine spot. Smithy returned back over the summits & back by the same route while I continued on to Maoile Lunndaidh.NotReallyABagger03/09/2000

Lovely summit and ridges on a day we traversed this and Sgurr a'Chaorachain (qv)between Berenas and Craig. My brother had scalded a foot and hand in the bothy but insisted in doing the Munros and only survived because of my obsessive attention to killing any possible microbes after the accident. The weather was perfect, it was a long walk out anyway= good decision!pwheeler19/05/1992

From Craig up into forest for 250m and 1 1/2 miles. Parked with 7 other cars. Another mile on forest road and stalkers' path to suspended foot bridge. To bealach and 1 1/2 miles on ridge - a series of rock steps to top at 13.55. Best view this holiday. To Chaorachain.arranc04/06/1988

Alone. I left the car ½ mile E of Craig. I crossed the railway and joined a track and vague line of path to Bealach Bhearnais (could not find the path in most places due to deep, soft snow). I went up the west ridge of Sgurr Choinnich to arrive at the summit. I reached Sgurr a’ Chaorachain and Bidean an Eòin Deirg. I returned to Sgurr a’ Chaorachain and went down the north ridge. It was hard going due to deep, soft snow with some hard snow or ice. Visibility was poor. I reached the car at 19:35.pwbellarby10/02/1987
