From tented camp at NH100302. Up Meall Shuas, Bealach Pait. Clear blue sky, but stopped from reaching summit by being battered by gusting storm force wind - could not hold my ground against the force of the wind.Isbjorn Winter Round20/03/2022
Long hot day with John - made use of Angus's boat service to take us to the base of An Socach, and then did the four munros back around to the dam. Blue Skies and a hot sun made for a very tiring initial ascent, and the 350m ascent up to Sgùrr na Lapaich was a killer. Turned out that 3L of water wasn't enough - doh. Anyway, we made it back to the car in just under 9H - fairly slow, but the heat made it impossible to maintain a quicker pace.mproudfoot24/07/2021

Bagged as part of a guided hike with the legend that is Steve Fallon, he holds the record for having completed the Munros x 15 times now!! The hike started at the Mullardoch dam at 8am from where we were raced up the loch in 10mins in a very small boat. We hiked back over the four Munros west to east in this order: An Socach (1069m), An Riabhachan (1130m), Sgurr na Lapaich (1150m) & Carn nan Gobhar (992m). It was overcast most of the day with the sun only appearing on the final summit, which made a sunny and pleasant walk out along a new hydro track, 9:45 hours all in.chillyman819/06/2019

With Jenny Ken, Caroline Barry Fred and Helen, cracking day before Caroline's 50th Birthday party. Whilst in boat the pilot of boat explained he had been out all night on a rescue and they were still looking for 70 year old lost on the Munro to the South. He was later found having descended to Loch Mullardoch in whiteout instead of Glen Afric - goes to show! Very lucky man - one of the remotest spots in the highlands.nickywood108/06/2015

It was a long way back to the dam from here. The lochside path was awful, not much of it, very hard work fighting through ferns and rough underfoot. Bridge was out over Alt Taige requiring a wade through some carefully chosen rapids. Altogether my GPS said 20.4 miles, it took 12 hours to do the 4. I was knackered!steveroberts23/08/2014

If anyone bothers to read these, just one hint if it has rained hard and the streams are in spate use the boat because one stream on the way in was a real joy to cross, not. Must be great to live at the base of An Socach very peaceful. Hard climb up as from the waist down soaked after crossing that stream. However this walk and ridge was a surprise. Solo from E end of Loch Mullardoch on a misty & occasionally wet day. Having missed An Socach on an attempt on the Mullardoch round 8 years earlier, returned to bag it by walking (mostly) along the loch side helped by the rivers being quite low. Cairngorm Club meet at Cannich. With another club member. From dam at the end of Loch Mullardoch. After climbing Sgùrr nan Clachan Geala, Sgùrr na Lapaich and An Riabhachan. There was more snow here than further east. We climbed up the east and main tops of An Socach, firstly by avoiding the snow, but for the final slopes there was no option but to climb up the snow. Temperature was 1°C. We went down into Coire Mhàim to join the path near Allt Coire a’ Mhàim. We continued eastwards on the path beside Loch Mullardoch. The path is never very good and in parts difficult to follow. At the Allt Mullardoch we took the upper path, thinking it would be better than the lower one, but it was very wet and boggy. 13 ½ hour day.pwbellarby18/03/2000
