Long out-and-back walk from Inverness SYHA up to here and An Leacainn via the Caledonian Canal to start out with. Very cold with bright views over Loch Ness and the ground was mostly hard frozen to make the descent down to Ladycairn a whole lot less of a quagmire today.Alex C30/01/2024
Very attractive summits & views. Nothing else good! From good parking at Ladycairn thought we'd benefit from a good track up to Carn a Bhodaich. It was anything but. Feet soaked within 500m. Barely a track in places. Cut off up grassy bog at earliest opportunity to fence & summit trig. Following highest ground we picked up the odd animal/mad person trail to reach cairn at .483. Pretty awful ground everywhere. On to Doire Mhor & Cnoc na Gaoithe. The path out was equally bad and indistinct. Vaguely NW then W. Glad to reach the road for the final km.Lynnebe05/08/2023
Plenty parking at Ladycairn about 200 yds SW of track start. Left track at 56594/37659, through heather SE to grassy rake then up to W of summit. Descended more directly to the grassy rake and down by burn to rejoin track just E off where left it earlier.duchally24/05/2023
Track up from the north not as bad as previous reports suggested.Adrian04/09/2022
Plenty of parking at the enclave of Ladycairn. Rough track….which will astound you hiw much water mud and squelch this will hold. Wish i had worn my wellies. Mud way up my trousers. Lovely to hear snipe drumming and stone chats contact calling. One hour and ten to the summit…..same to get back. I am slow.VerySlowPlodder13/06/2022
From Ladycairn (parking beside road a short distance SW of the track), along the infamous boggy and gullied track to near its high point, then WSW across the heather to the summit, descending steeply NW back to the track and back to Ladycairn (1h45m)kdbennett15/05/2022
From Ladycairn along track which was more of a river than anything but at least provided a way through most of the heather.sclater04/12/2021
Ample parking at Ladycairn. The dry, stony track soon gives way to a grassy, mossy, muddy bogfest, but the wooded area is attractive. Rough heathery but mercifully brief slope to the summit area.Owen B24/09/2021
The obvious track from Ladycairn. Rather damp underfoot, but pleasant enough.Jon F12/07/2021
A pleasant couple of hours from Ladycairn. The best bit was unexpectedly meeting Reg Willis.Pete R10/07/2021
From Ladycairn.ger10/07/2021
Track wet even after a prolonged dry spell. Frogs, damsel flies, orange tips, sundew compensate.jimbloomer07/06/2021
1 of 3: From Ladycairn. The sun came through the low cloud and mist as we arrived at the TP. As soon as we continued the mist returned. With Karen.ChrisR02/03/2021
Parked opposite houses, seems ok. Track up to high point, very wet, then onto summit. Came down through heather more directly. Sunny, Torridon hills visible, great autumn day.iangalbraith05/11/2020
Five minutes into the walk I was joined by a wee terrier I called Trig. He followed me up the muddy path from Ladycairn, bagging Carn a' Bhodaich, Doire Mhor and Cnoc na Gaoithe with me over heather and rock, through deer and sheep. He came to heel when called, ran like a free spirit when not, loved company and aimless chat, and sat patiently for an oaty energy bar. On returning to Ladycairn I was met by his owner's friend, found out he was called Scrappy and had been missing for hours, so had to give him back. An okay set of hills, an excellent walking companion.summitter01/09/2020

Parked at Ladycairn, plenty parking opposite the houses. Followed the track, at times very boggy to where the track bends left below the ridge, no point in staying on the track for an easy life, headed up a green rake between the heather (wet but not as wet as the track) onto the ridge where met some fenceposts. Followed the ridge to the summit. Great viewpoint. Descended the same way. Round trip 3 miles, all in with photo stop on the summit about 1.5hrs.JulieB30/07/2020
From Ladycairn, with Ellie dog and the mud.BLACKHILL23/10/2019
Normal route up the muddy track. Actually not as bad as I expected - new stone has been laid in several places. Climb it quick before the stone disappears into the mud!Clive G04/05/2019
Up track which has had some drainage works. Still runs with water after rain. Cut up to fence, the followed ridge line.cjo27/09/2018

Hasn't rained properly for weeks, path still a bog!Dave McG09/06/2018
The Bhodaich may be an old man but nonetheless enjoyable! Despite dry spell, path through trees is very damp in places.elizyanne30/05/2018
From Ladycairn, up the path as high as practicable and then to the top, and directly down to the path. If you bag Meall na h-Eilrig before this one, you'll find that the path is a blessing by comparison, despite the wet bits. The section through the forest is lovely.Gill08/04/2018
From Ladycairn. The track was mostly frozen but still proved unpleasant as previously mentioned. Good view from the summit.Peterb12/01/2018
Had to visit Inverness for Mr TJR to get his bike serviced, so decided to bag this trig. Took the very boggy track from Lady Cairn most of the way up. Mrs TJR took a more direct route up for the last 300m and Mr TJR carried on the track. Fantastic 360 degree views from the top. Took Mrs TJR an age up and down due to being a very tired trig bagging Ted from the previous two weekends escapades. Charlie got totally covered in mud at some points, so be prepared!thejackrustles06/05/2017

Old track from Ladycarn, seen better days, a bit of a bog in places. Fine views westward and northwestward on a cloudy day with brightening spells.N.Morters12/04/2016
Parked at Ladycairn and followed the ancient track which was wet, boggy and covered in snow. One hour and forty five minutes return trip in glorious weather. The return is much easier skirting the edge of the forest. Solo.bolton13/02/2016
With Jenx from Ladycairn on the 'not for cyclists' track. Bit of a bog track but the line can be followed on foot all the way to col. From summit a direct line back inc skirting forest edge gets you back to start quickly. Great viewpointnordicstar06/02/2016
Wellies for the boggy track from Ladycairn. It's quite pretty through the old pine forest. Thought the trig had been painted yellow from a distance. Just lichen.jenx06/02/2016
On last day in a holiday cottage at Balchraggan with J. Drove the short distance to Ladycairn & then took the boggy & disintegrating track up past the treeline. In the interests of getting a view before the rapidly approaching clag closed in, struck straight up to the higher ground at the point at which the track turns E. Easy enough from there to the summit where there was a view just ahead of the rain closing in. Due N down to the track & out by the same route.NotReallyABagger15/05/2015
parked at lady cairn, wet boggy track to the top.robertphillips04/04/2015
Easy walk up from Ladycairn. Track very wet and boggy. Good views from the trig and from the sub summit to the north east. Worth the detour if you have the time.BigJ04/08/2014

From Ladycairn. Once well built for vehicles, the track shown on the map is being washed away, and elsewhere the ground is rough and heather is long. Followed track to its highest point then turned back west to summit, thence on along the west ridge and back down to track.Topographer5718/07/2014

Revisit. Rounded outcrop with a few stones piled beside trig as a kind of cairn. Fine view; cloud inversion at 300m.RHW28/12/2008
Along the waymarked rout at Abriachan that turns to acid floods before escaping onto the moor.Eddie02/12/2006
Parked at high point on narrow lane at Ladyscairn. Wet track not on my map, contoured around through wood and under crags. Track used as stream bed with 2' steps caused by erosion. Up over heather to top at 16.00. Inverness, Loch Duntelchaig, Loch Ness, Tom Bailgeann, Eilrig, F-Mhonaidh, G-B Mhor, Marcasaidh, Little Wyvis and Wyvis. Rain came on.arranc07/07/2006
