Part of long day traversing Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhughaill and including Sabhal Beag. Start at Kinloch, exit via Lone and back to main road.sarahk23/07/2023
Forecast was for low cloud clearing summits later. It did not! With J. Room to park without obstructing access at start of track leading to Aultanrynie. Turned up the track just before the buildings, followed the zig-zags & on to the lumps & bumps of Meallan Liath Beag. As we ascended up to the E ridge, the cloud dropped from 750m, the wind picked up & the rain started. On to the summit for a very brief stay & then off on a SSE bearing. A miserable hag-fest of a descent in poor visibility to rejoin zig-zags. In mist, would either reverse route or just continue S over Meall Reinidh where a bridge crosses the Allt an Reinidh just above the house at the bottom.NotReallyABagger26/05/2023
From the end of the track to Aultanrynie, and followed the SMC/Walkhighlands route. Added on the Simms of Carn Dearg, Sail Rac and Tatha nam Beann before the main Corbett summit. Niggling injuries made me decide to leave off Meall Garbh. Reasonably tedious going over the peat hags either side of the Allt an Reinidh, but not as wet as it could have been. 21km, 5h 40Rockdoctor24/05/2023
Up stalker's track, round by ridge and returned directly down to burn and across (dry) peat bog to track.iangalbraith20/04/2023
7th and last of the day with CM and D.Dave. In cloud. Headed SSE to 362377 and then followed burn before picking up stalkers path which we came up. 11.5 miles and 7 hours. Back to car at 347343.bolton31/03/2023
From the A838, up the Meallan Liath Beag ridge and Carn Dearg. Descended south, crossed the Allt an Reinidh then followed it across peat bog to rejoin the stalkers path just above the zigzags. With Chris & Phil.Dangerous Dave31/03/2023
With J&J - anti-clockwise route from A838. Walk in via the road to the atv-track and then fairly sustained ascent up to around 500m, then N onto the ridge and NW to point 741m before heading directly over to the summit. Descent down into the peat bogs to cross the Allt a Reinidh before the ravine then across more peat bog back to the atv track, then down and out via the same track/path as the inward route. Occasional light rain and some light gusts, but blue skies for the most part. Total time 4h 29min.mproudfoot27/11/2022

Kinloch, up zigzag path behind Aultanrynie and over Meallan Liath Beag up nice ridge on to Carn Dearg. Back along ridge to Summit. Descended south past Meall Reinidh, across Allt an Reinidh and down to zigzag path.Flatfield25/06/2022

Good path from Aultanrynie to Carn Dearg then back over the 741m top to sail Rac, out to Meall Garbh, back and out to Tatha nam Bheinn and finishing over Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhugall. A very good daydickscroop21/08/2020
With Graham from Inchnadamph. Mostly dry, just an hour of rain.iansm18/08/2019
From Sail Rac. Then headed west back to parking north of Achfary. Hard going around the 650m contour, after that found a slightly easier line avoiding the worst of the boulders. From the first 490m contour north and then west. Was fortunate that it was early in the season and there had been a good dry spell, the going was good. South of Lochan a Chreobair, across the stream, then over the shoulder of Ben Screavie and south of Loch nam Breac Buidhe.Owen B23/04/2019

Cycled up to Aultanrynie up via Reinidh back via Meallan Liath Beag. Excellent views.Topographer5719/07/2018
Started from Bealach na Feaithe to the north. Excursion whilst walking the Sutherland Trail.justin99923/06/2018
Did this on a superb sunny day out. Parked in the car park at NC 298 402, then walked to Lone and took the good track up to Bealach na Fèithe. Then over Meal Garbh to Pt 761 and on to Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhughaill. Back over point 761 and along the ridge to Tàtha nam Beann, dropping down the grassy slopes before the crags at the end of the ridge to regain the track for a long walk out.martin_hall28/05/2018
Sixth and last summit of the day walk over tops from Aultanrynie to Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhughaill- essentially the walk in the SMC Corbetts guide including Carn Dearg and adding Sail Rac. Satisfying to have such a good high ridge section to this walk. Sunny, warm off the ridges, great visibility and the mountain to myself. The descent went well until the last half mile before rejoining the stalkers track.pwheeler24/05/2018
Anti-clockwise circuit of Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhughaill & surrounding tops from Kinloch on a very windy day. On own.MorecambeMonkey11/05/2018

Bagging the trig. Parked at Kinloch and followed the track along to Aultanrynie. Picked up the zig zag stalkers path and followed it up and round to spot height 513. Wandered over the Meallan Liath Beag and made the steep ascent onto the ridge. Light rain showers kept drifting by and it was quite cold. Turned left on the ridge and ascended over slabby stones to the summit trig which is protected by a low wall. Very extensive views. The cold drove us off the summit and we descended directly south to eventually pick up the stalkers path again. Very dry underfoot as there hasn't been much rain. With Nozzer.BigJ17/05/2017
Started from car park at NC297402. The track into Strath Luib na Seilich makes for very easy walking/running/cycling. Ascended via Sail Rac and Tatha nam Beann. Descended over Meall Garbh to Bealach na Feithe and onwards to Sabhal Beag.raffemeister23/08/2016

Trig revisit. Aultanrynie track. It soon started raining and was a cold wet windy afternoon. Straight up to Meallan Liath Beag ridge, out to Carn Dearg (CT) then bagged the three GTs. The NW top was desparately cold reached by an awkward descent on wet boulders. Fortunately the higher Meall Garbh was less exposed as was the Corbett. Unsure whether the in-spate Allt an Reinidh was bridged, I returned to E col and kept the burn on my R, but neednt have worried: good bridge by Aultanrynie. The Goretex earned its keep again today.RHW27/05/2011
From Kinloch at NC348343, track around loch shore and up track to pt. 513m. Angled across to Loch Ulbaich, and climb Carn an Tionail (Graham) - across top Carn Dearg to summit. Descended direct line to track at NC355363 and back to road.nordicstar29/04/2011
From road to Aultanrynie. Stalkers track to 480m up shoulder and ridge west of Carn Dearg then east to summit. Back same way. Thunder, lightning and heavy rain on way down.chrisbien04/06/2010

MCJC. First reasonable day on a week spent at Kylesku. Light wind with occasional sun. Really good hill with complex ridges. Summit area covered by flat slabs. Continued to Carn Dearg. Interesting views of Arkle (end on)and Ben Stack. Covered in frogs. Meallan Liath Beag ridge very undulating. Great hill and well worth a return trip.Martin6631/05/2006
