More or less as Summiter below.A wooden section in the deer fence makes for an easy crossing.ARM09/09/2023
The path from Little Torboll doesn't really exist. Rather, we took the track from 752 986, which is handily opposite a parking spot. When the track runs out it's a case of simply heading through ungrazed field and carr woodland until reaching a deer fence. Once over this we headed SE upwards over heather and new tree planting to attain Creag an Amalaidh. A steep heathery descent S, over a stone track, then up old ATV route to Cnoc Odhar. Returned home along the aforementioned stone track until it runs out at Achinael, then its grassland, deer fence, woodland and more grassland back to the road.summitter02/08/2023

From Cattle Grid near The Mound. Bracken in wood & deer fence to cross above wood. Some faint paths above mast.duchally31/10/2022
Parked NH 75164 98596. Up track in direction of Achinael. Once over new deer fence up NW ridge to summit.PeteF20/10/2022
From Torboll, new deer fence on N side, climbing gate on line of marked footpath, difficult if you have a large dog.BLACKHILL21/05/2022
A delightful ascent from the W given the recent dry weatherSpudGunn09/06/2021
not many parking options on minor raod. path proved diff to find. once out of farm and- just keep heading up . so many piles of stones around this glen. so much historyVerySlowPlodder02/05/2021
Solo, stunning blue sky day. 2nd attempt after failing in September. walked out to the ruined cottage then down to the massive cairn. Exited by the Lodge.garbo110317/12/2020
From P area to NW. Mapped track (LR21) fizzles out - a little bashing through vegetation - a couple of gates, then pleasantly to summit.ger11/09/2020
From Little Torboll via track and deer paths. Great wet weather day hill, could see the sea in between heavy showers.garyhoney26/07/2020
Parked at the large lay-by 751986 and walked up to the track on the road above. Through the cow field then left at the second gate to the final gate before ascending up the feint path by the earth dyke. I think wellies could be a good option on this hill. Very wet and mucky lower down.Peterb18/01/2020
From Little Torboll via track and NW ridge.Winterfloodian11/06/2019
Following coffee and cake in Cocoa Mountain Dornoch (recommended)...as others from Little Torboll. Track starts just after last ruin house.N.Morters15/03/2019

From little Torboll. Parked behind passing place at NH751986. Ascended via path shown on 25k from NH753896 to fence which was followed to open ground. Found a path on rougly NW-SE alignment which ascends to the N end of the ridge.raffemeister10/09/2018
From layby on The Mound, up on track to coms tower and rough tracks.rhalstead18/06/2018
Circular route as per Andrew Dempster's 'Hughs' book.benalder28408/04/2018
Parked at what seemed a disused entrance to Cambusmore Lodge (NH 7682 9765). Through the estate to pick up a fellside track at NH 7642 9751). Followed this to approx 100m W of the monument and attacked steep, heather-clad slopes for a direct route to top, keeping to W of crags. Met Carole Engel at the top, who had taken a less steep (and possibly less interesting!) route via NH 7625 9774.jonglew06/04/2018
Following mapped tracks from NH768976. Climbed on un-mapped track from NH764975 (to communication tower). Up short steep NE nose of hillcarole engel06/04/2018
Good views from the top.BigJ22/03/2018
A nice hill, climbed from the parking spot at the Y junction, up the road and onto the first hill track. Across a boggy field to a gate, and onto the open hillside. Heather at first to a turf wall, and then a path higher up. Splendid views. I varied the return by following the path WNW to an area of grazing land, then through a wall into rather nice woodland. Deer tracks lead direct to the road about 200m SW of the Y junction, by heading along the side of the shallow valley shown on the map.Gill24/12/2017
Large parking area on minor road beside Gatehouse to SE then track from Cambusavie Farm.Smudge24/12/2017
Parked low road, Little Torboll, just at junction. Took track, soon disintegrated. Dry up, poured down, again.iangalbraith09/08/2017
Park to NW just after junction. Rough track. then follow ridge. Lovely. On to Cnoc OdharThearlaichdubh23/05/2017

From 752986 up the rough track and through the trees before heading up the edge on a rough track. 2 miles and 1 hour solo.bolton17/02/2017
Park by house at Little Torboll. Up grassy slope through a few trees, easy to avoid the gorse and onto the heather.Half hour up and down.AndrewFinnimore08/01/2017
Hard frost but bright and sunny. tremendous clear viewsLesH20/11/2016
Parking on the minor 'by-pass' road to the north of the hill. Immediately below the marked steep hill symbol is a large flat area (and turning space). Camper-vanners note. Up first rough track to gate in fence then SE around / through trees to dyke, path on S side, about 10m from dyke. 1:25K map very helpful for fences/wall/paths.Minto30/07/2016

Up from Little Torboll, through field with much bog myrtle and laid back cows, through sally wood and on to easy moorland. Lots to see on the way. Only one fence and it had been flattened by a tree. Great views, a lovely wee hill.fasgadh28/06/2015
From minor road to north. No obvious path through scrub and bushes, over wall to ruin at Achimael and track to S of hill. Tough clamber up heather to cairn. Nice view.arranc22/06/2015
from ruined barn to the north on short heather through gorse bushes.robertphillips15/06/2015
From cattle grid on B road up through woodland and then onto north side of hill.Campbell Singer27/03/2015
Parked in front of a ruined barn on minor road to N. (NH75693 98447) – Followed sheep trod through gorse & then through heather up steep N. slopes to summit and geocache. (S)gerrybowes24/09/2014
Cattle grid, up to the power poles, round the corner then onto the summit. return same route.GmacT23/08/2014
Parked on the minor road to the north of the hill. Very deep heather and steep ascent. Farmer later told me about the track a bit to the west at the edge of the houses.Play2End16/08/2014
Solo trip. Route up east ridge not recommended in bracken season ...Invicta1406/08/2014
Parking by the roadside at the east end of Little Torboll NH 757 985. Found an easy route through the gorse near the start, and then straight up to the top. Returned via a more westerly route for a gentler descent, but some difficulty picking a route through the gorse this time.martin_hall28/06/2014
Has been promoted to Marilyn status, Track from the north pretty hard to find (overgrown) try the track right at the end of the cottages, you can park 2 cars in a spot on the right and a landrover track goes up the hill ( we didn't take it) but it might get you through the trees. Great view from the top.tallblond08/06/2014
Direct route from due north. It's steep and the heather is thick. A detour to the west would probably have been better.Topographer5708/06/2014
Climbed w Jenx from Little Torboll. Saw Jon and Margriet after their climb. Now the 'new' Marilyn of course so all after it! Steady up the track (not FP on map) into scrubby field. Old path/line to steading gone, so when track ends aim up left to metal gate, and then to the turf wall visible on the hill. Once up the steeps bear off to the right and track across 300m+ to summit mound. Great views. We dropped straight off Southern side to the visible track and back whence we started, also possible to come up from the Lodge (AD did) too.nordicstar08/06/2014
With AD at marhofn in Helmsdale: AD has just promoted this to a P150GordonAdshead07/06/2014
From cattle grid, through the trees and on to the moorland passing a comms mast. And then over the other side to the P30s. Could this be a Marilyn, very close thing?Martin R06/06/2014
Started at cattle grid at eastern corner 50 metres along side road, picked up trod in the wood that skirts around under eastern crags.Eddie03/04/2014
