As others by ATV track but in sunny and dry conditions underfoot. | lordtonult | 03/06/2023 |
Parked in school CP after asking permission - NG 2629 6014. Teacher grateful as most just park and go without the decency to ask. | carole engel | 29/05/2023 |
Easily up the ATV route from the car park by the school | SpudGunn | 20/02/2023 |
JEB, Bran | HFB | 24/05/2022 |
Parked at end of ATV track that starts from a gate and leads direct to the mast on the summit / trig area. | willyross | 27/11/2020 |
From road just west of the school via (boggy) track. | Winterfloodian | 07/09/2020 |
Early start so I could get back for breakfast at 8.30 at the Stein Inn. Parked at the school, followed the track, rough and wet, to the top. | Simon Winton | 14/03/2020 |
From parking at the primary school. Up the mast track, boggy in places to summit where the trig is tucked behind the mast station. 4/4 Marilyn | N.Morters | 22/02/2020 |
A seriously easy walk. Parked at the school, up the road to the gate, then an ATV track goes all the way. There are, indeed, some boggy bits, but nothing to worry about. Nice views. | Gill | 29/09/2019 |
Before school over stile then tracked vehicle access to mast - soft and wet in places. Easy 40 mins up and down. Breezy and cool. | NormanW | 05/06/2019 |
ATV track from beside school. Sunny and calm, good views. | iangalbraith | 25/04/2019 |
With Elizyanne from the school CP on the ATV track to the mast which is mostly harmless. | GmacT | 15/04/2019 |
with GmacT. Straight forward. | elizyanne | 15/04/2019 |
From just above the school. An ATV track starts from a gate and leads direct to the communications mast on the summit, but was a mixed blessing as the Argocat driver(s) had really churned up the water-logged track in a couple of places, up to 30mm wide. | Isbjorn | 16/01/2019 |
From SE starting at Knockbreck school CP. Up to top of road then up mast track, dry at first then drowns in a swamp and hardly exists thereafter, driest line is closer to fence than power line. Good viewpoint for Outer Hebrides. | Topographer57 | 23/11/2018 |
1of5: From Geary School CP. | ChrisR | 28/09/2018 |
Straight up from school car park. Track very boggy in places. Then across to Blacksmith's Hill nearby to the west, following fence then straight up to MacLeod memorial. Returned skirting around Ben Geary and down track. A good short trip. | the pigguy | 14/05/2018 |
Stroll up from holiday cottage in Hallin. Past Blacksmith's cairn. Good views except that some slobs left their picnic rubbish up there which I bought down. Company: Solo | iandesbottes | 13/05/2018 |
Bright sunshine, very windy, very cold, ground frozen. From high point. | Rounsfell | 28/02/2018 |
Easy parking on the road opposite the school. The ATV track to the summit makes an easy but in places a wet ascent. Solo return of under one hour. | bolton | 03/10/2017 |
up across hard work terrain to this most northerly of the Waternish TuMPs then appallingly hard work terrain for an hour and a quarters leg draining tiring slog the two kilometres to the summit of Ben Geary for a bit of sunny relief. S9359 has had its Flush Bracket hacked out by some thief. Shame on them. Nice easy tramp back to the road and recommendation to others to go up and back to these two summits separately rather than subject yourselves to the ghastly hard work 2km along the moorland ridge. | vegibagger | 30/05/2017 |
From the school. | Chris Peart | 20/10/2016 |
Followed track from high point of road by water tank to summit. | andy macp | 27/08/2016 |
Poor weather on coasts exposed to the NE wind, Trotternish in particular. You could make out Ben Alligan though. So an afternoon bag of Ben Geary from the school at Knockbreck. Followed tracks from the reservoir just above the school but lost them in a boggy saddle. I headed to the fence to try and find them, a mistake, they were under an old power line. Really, all very easy and forgiving. Sunshine, clouds, high winds and nice enough views nearby. A second walk around fields, lanes near Trumpan was better than Ben Geary, beautiful meadows full of flowers. I didn't hear any corncrakes- they nest in this area- in the near gale: do put them first if you encounter them, please. | pwheeler | 15/06/2016 |
Wet and windy walk following damp moorland track. | Dugswell2 | 07/05/2016 |
From parking by school as others. Track to plateau area ok then bog most way to top. Great views from trig missing its FB. Up and down in just over the hour. | nordicstar | 07/02/2016 |
From the school. Easy walk though very wet in placrs. Sunny! Good views of Outer Hebs. | jenx | 07/02/2016 |
Here for the trigpoint, TP:UK log:

Hardest 1km ever, spoke to nearby home owner who said we could park and go through his garden to a gate. He said 'it's a tough walk' and he wasn't joking, Mrs TJR nearly gave up as it was 3 steps forward and the number going up on the GPS instead of down! After an age Mr TJR came back for me and escorted me to the trigpoint. A very sad trig it is too, whoever took the flush bracket did it most unceremoniously and left an awful mess! Went back via the Argo cat track to the school and Mr TJR went back the same way we came up and drove round for me. | thejackrustles | 23/09/2015 |
parked at school carpark to SE and easy stroll to mast. | Thearlaichdubh | 19/08/2015 |
track from just above the school. | robertphillips | 25/04/2015 |
As it was raining heavily, we had driven north not really knowing what to do. When we arrived at the school it stopped, making this hill the only rain free one on Skye. Flogged up to masts and trig point grateful it was dry overhead, if not under foot. | mindlessflogger | 16/02/2015 |
Parked by school and easily up to summit | AndrewFinnimore | 30/05/2014 |
Followed track from covered reservoir just E of school. The bog was dry and recent (mast) vehicle activity made the upper portion easier to follow. | jimbloomer | 22/06/2012 |
With Mora, from Road junction at Knockbreck | BLACKHILL | 15/06/2012 |
Started by reservoir near the school. Followed the track to where it meets fence. Best to climb over fence and follow faint path on east side of fence to summit, as the vehicle track peters out in boggy area. Horrible wet and windy day. | Martin R | 26/02/2012 |
Ascended from the south east. | JohnW | 28/04/2009 |
Parked at school at road end at Geary. Up the crest on a green buggy track to top at 9.35. Face plate of trig recently removed. | arranc | 15/05/2008 |
Revisit. Grey view, back to the car just before a heavy shower arrived. Simple albeit boggy path along ridge from SSE. Last trig of the day. | RHW | 25/08/2007 |
Road high point to SSE. | agentmancuso | 04/04/2007 |
Parked by the school on the minor road to Geary. Then a track not on the map to reach the summit in fairly good time. Cloud cover was fairly low so views were sparse. | garyhoney | 03/04/2002 |
Date is first visit. Notes from later...disappointing hill, transmitter @ summit; Waternish peninsula a fine area. 261601, boggy tk from rdside W of school | RHW | 12/06/2000 |
Up and down from the road. | Eddie | 06/09/1999 |
