Second ascent of this Munro. Went up Great Stone Shoot and up to summit. Bagged with Simon Turner. Nice to get a view this time.assynt_bob27/08/2022
From Thearlaich, perfectly hideous traverse to Alasdair, then home via the great stone shoot. Good on the way down, look for the light small rocks, they slide with you downwards in a mostly controlled fashion! Breathtaking views, hot and mostly sunny.iangalbraith14/08/2022
Day 1 on Skye, tough day out with poor visibility but great day with technical walking and great scrambling made up for the lack of views.Kevthecat03/07/2022
3rd of 3. Some mental roped up scrambles that were way outside my comfort zone. Came up the back from Dubh Mor and down the stone shoot which was tough going.akmilne27/06/2022

Solo from Glenbrittle via the Great (!) Stone Chute. 5am start from the camp site meant I was able to hit the summit, and be on my way back down the path below Coire Lagan before seeing anyone else. The stone chute was quite unpleasant going up, but seemed a bit easier on the descent. The scramble at the top was very straight forward, no real technical or avoidable exposed sections, though the summit is fairly small. Was fortunate to get to the summit during a period of blue skies and clarity, but by the time I was half way back down to the car, i could see the tops all covered in cloud. Solo fr car parked by Glen Brittle campsite, mostly running on improved path to Coir' a' Ghrunnda then scrambled up Eag, the Dubhs, and up without real difficulty to here. Tops all clear with a light dusting of snow, but rather hazy. Then went down Stone Shoot - too fast, really, perhaps showing off that I'm a runner; one or two bigger stones bashed my ankles and shins and I was in pain for a day or two after running back fr Coire Lagan to the car! Nights before and after this I camped at Sligachan - site v quiet - then moved to B&B in Portree, one day doing LoTRO in Library!NorfolkPT2108/04/2019

not such great weather. but a great hill.gettingonabit21/06/2017
An ideal day sunny cool air walking up from Glen Brittle campsite after a luxury coffee. The steady walk to the base of the great stone shoot an old volcanic crater, populated by a range of bivouac stone walls created by a bivouac building workshop it would seem. The stone shoot delivered what it promised a moving hillside on the way up and the way down. The summit was airy with tremendous views all round. Three young climbers were tripping across the sloping slabs above the void an all sides.. With tremendous effort we descended the GSS slipping, sliding and grinding or way down the GSS and on back to the Glen floor.david.walker4015/05/2016

Greasy slabs. interesting scrambly ridge -to Alasdair Rock - Tricky to find correct R1 route (a mod climb)up Threalaich (in our Scrambles in Skye book) in cloud and rain. Great run down Great Stone Chute - until my boot split, and both my camera and watch stopped working in the damp - otherwise a great (if wet) adventure.Chris Pearson23/06/1984

With Jonathan Bellarby, Geraldine Guest, and Robin Howie. From Glen Brittle. After climbing the In Pinn, we ascended to the summit of Sgurr Mhic Coinnich and then went via Collie’s Ledge to the bottom of King’s Chimney, which Robin and I climbed. So we reached the summit of Sgurr Mhic Coinnich for the second time. We used Collie’s Ledge again to rejoin the others and went on to Sgurr Thearlaich and Sgurr Alasdair. The weather was very good.pwbellarby12/05/1984
Cairngorm Club Meet at Glen Brittle Hut. With Martin Wilson, Fraser Stronach. After climbing on Sron na Ciche and reaching Sgurr Sgumain I led the bad step on SW Ridge of Sgurr Alasdair. We continued to Sgurr Thearlaich. Martin and I included Sgurr Mhic Coinnich. After a night of gales the winds abated, the mist lifted and it turned into a beautiful day.pwbellarby24/09/1983

With: ag as ls lj mrj; From Glen Brittle up Sron na Ciche to Sg. Sgumain. Then via Bad Step (thanks Lawrence) to Sg Alasdair. On to Sg Thearlaich across Collie's Ledge up Sg Mhic Choinnich & down scree to Coire lagan. Superb day.Ian Baines21/06/1983

With Mark Garthwaite and Martin Heardman. From Glen Brittle Hut to Sgurr nan Eag. We went back along the ridge, under Caisteal a’ Garbh-choire on the east side, traversed under Sgurr Dubh na Da Bheinn and Sgurr Alasdair including jumping 20’ into a snow filled gully. We reached the Sgumain-Alasdair col and went up the SW ridge of Alasdair, avoiding the bad step, to reach Sgurr Alasdair. The SW ridge was very difficult. We glissaded down the Great Stone Chute. There was much snow, going hard on top, with some ice. There were superb views. It was a first class day.pwbellarby25/03/1983
With Graeme Cornwallis. From Glen Brittle Hut to Coire Lagan (lunch). Ascended the Alasdair stone chute. I continued alone from the top of the stone chute to the summit of Sgurr Alasdair. On the descent we had a superb glissade down almost the whole length of the stone chute. There was much soft snow on the hills. It was deeper than my long ice axe on the stone chute. The section from the top of the stone chute to the summit was tricky. There were violent wind gusts from time to time with much spindrift.pwbellarby24/03/1983
Cairngorm Club Meet at Glen Brittle Hut. With four fellow members. From the hut to Bealach Coir’ a’ Ghrunnda and along the ridge to Sgurr Sgumain, then to Sgurr Alasdair via the short chimney so avoiding the bad step. We went on to Sgurr Thearlaich and Sgurr Mhic Choinnich before descending to Coire Lagan.pwbellarby04/08/1982

The first of several ascents. This was from Glen Brittle by the stone chute. Cloud on top at first, but returned with some fellow hostellers from the top of the stone chute. By this time the summit had cleared. Ascended in snowy but clear conditions 03/04/1983. However heavy snow on the descent of the stone chute. Ascended from Sgurr Sgumain in good weather 29/8/1983. Descended to Sgurr Sgumain 14/04/1990. Half way down at the place where there was a near fatal accident a year before in icy conditions, there was hard snow. Made a scary descent.JohnW30/08/1979
