From Heiseabhal Mor descended to the gap via rope aid. Easy over boulders then steep pull to summit disturbing sea eagle off the ground. Dave/Jill.N.Morters16/06/2023
Walked down from Heiseabhal Mor. Used fishing rope, tied around a large boulder, to abseil down to first ledge and to assist on the climb down. Steep grass to summit. A pair of Golden Eagles soaring around summit. With Nigel & Jill. Went north to Traigh Bharlais then on to the two northern Tumps.Dangerous Dave16/06/2023

We walked around the coast following a Traigh Bharlais beach skinny dip ... the Atlantic was as cold as anticipated. Arrived 2hrs before LWM but rocks over to island were clear so went for it in order to get back in time for the Champions League final. The old fisherman's rope remains and is a great help in getting down the cliff to the water. A steep grassy hillside awaits once the crossing rocks are hopped over. Once back on the mainland we tidied up the rope for whoever fancies crossing next. Enjoy!summitter10/06/2023
22 mile paddle from Vatersay causeway, taking in islands down as far as Pabbay.AndyS26/04/2023

Used rope to descend into channel with much water swilling about but top of boulders above water level but wet. 1.3 m low tide probably about the max to clear the boulders.chalky195308/08/2018
Used conveniently placed fishing rope to assist down steep sided gap- but foot and handholds all there and return easier. Then across 2 m sea passage on huge boulders before gentle slab ascent the other side then steeper, springy grass to obvious top . Apparently accessible at least an hour either side of low tide. With Colin and R on sunny day.Denise 27/04/2018
Round of the Vatersay Tumps from the dunes. The rope helped on the steep descent, easy climb on return. An hour after low tide, there was just time to make the ascent and return safely.Colin Crawford27/04/2018

Low tide crossing. Rope assist to descend into intertidal channel on very wet rock.jonglew14/08/2017

Bagged the tidal island w Tricky, with dry feet! Marginal access so judge your tide times (and reach) well. Be prepared to climb down - not difficult, easier on return. As RHW describes, below a large slanting rock.Once across easy if steep grass slopes to a verdant top and finest views of Vatersay!nordicstar11/07/2014

With Jenx on the Vatersay walkthorugh. Arrived an hour after high tide and too much water to cross the gap. Golden Eagles present, will come back at low tide. Onwards up to Tangasval Marilyn.nordicstar09/07/2014
Not summited. Steep sided dyke separates this island from Vatersay. At 1 hour before low tide, water was gushing through from both directions with no obvious safe way across. May 'go' on a calmer day with minimal low tide but would also involve a necky scramble.Smudge07/05/2014
Tide not quite low enough, boulder-hopped across with wet feet. Descended from near R end of gap (when facing island), traversed L a bit then down. Not hard, decent holds.RHW17/07/2012
Date long lost. No causeway at the time so took the local ferry across from Barra.moorsman09/09/1999
