Parked at the coal road end. Easy but long walk to the top | Andrew Simmons | 13/12/2023 |
Parked startr of coal road (NS 5114 1737), all quiet but gate locked. Biked 3.5k to NS 5315 1546, rough walking from there to pick up a mapped track NNW of the hill, took that then up through trees. On to Carsgailoch Hill. | jonglew | 14/01/2022 |
Stannery knowe and high mount a bike round starting at coal entrance 4808017409 gates were open could have drove to both hills, also visited quarry next to track and small clearing with large boulder on top at 5405614422 gps 365m my final east ayrshire tump. | robertphillips | 24/11/2019 |
6th and final top of the day, after High Mount back to intersection then East becoming rougher and past quarry that again looked quite high to park up beside track heading North then cut through trees and over mossy wall to small ridge with high point beside conifers but near open area. Back a similar way.. I stopped at the quarry to the Sw and recorded a higher point at the rim next to trees. Again it seems that HP should be at the quarry. | Dazingdale | 21/09/2019 |
From NW, passed now vanished Darntaggart. Grubby at first but easy parking and fast approach, then along edge of trees & in by old wall. Trees hanging with moss, amazing looking, wall round top area too. Last Yeaman on LR70. | agentmancuso | 19/01/2019 |
From north across reclaimed opencast bog. Once in trees easy going for an the region (Ayr/ Dumfries and Galloway hills. Via trig pillar and martyrs grave following fence lines and firebreaks. Summit is sparse native woodland with heavy lichen and moss cover. The fire breaks are very wet do not attempt after a particularly wet period. | cjo | 11/11/2017 |

After Stannery Knowe. High Mount has quite the spookiest summit area which I've ever seen - a moss covered old wall surrounding gnarled and misshapen trees, covered in drapes of feathery moss. Wonderful. | Colin Crawford | 10/12/2016 |
From B7046 using coal roads and forest tracks.SK small quarry S of track across felled area and through trees. Top not obvious. Track-road-track then due E through trees. Over 5ft wall to top of HM. | chrisbien | 12/06/2016 |
