On my way back to South MoorhouseAndrew Simmons16/02/2024
Along the track leading SE of the forest from just before Bennan farm, through two gates (deep mud) and round to the NW side of the hill where a gate gives access to the summit.Back dow to the gate where we met the farmer who pointed out a shorter, drier route back which Quadbarrel has detailed below. No parking at Bennan farm or anywhere nearby.ARM26/01/2024
From Ballageich and the great views. Steep descent to Bennan Loch and over the fence at the entrance to the loch (a gap in the barbed wire). Quite boggy to across to the hill. Followed the pipes back to Lochcraig before picking a route back to BattageichBuck18/04/2022
From layby on main road, Ballageich Hill and then across the damcolazione02/04/2022
Four Tump round from layby opposite Greenfield. Good path up to Ballageich for awesome views and on to Bennan Hill. Followed blue pipes as shown on Google Earth to Melowther Cottage and on to Dunwan Dam.lordtonult05/10/2021
From NW. Parking for 3 cars just over the Earn Water bridge. No parking beyond as the natives object.bjewing22/03/2021
Up from dam, having followed track leading from Bonnyton Moor Road.Grinner01/11/2020
As scater. Hardest bit was the route back to lay-by. Took rising traverse onto east shoulder of Ballgeich Hill and then down route of ascent.Campbell Singer26/09/2020
From layby at Greenfield via Ballageich Hill and the dam.sclater26/07/2020
From Ballageich, descending to Bennan Loch, across the Dam and up to the summit. Returned as we'd come, back over Ballageich to the layby opposite the track to Greenfield. Pleasant walk.LizH02/06/2020
2nd of a 4 tump loop from the layby opp. Greenfield track, climbing Ballageich Hill, continuing Wnw descending steeply then through hole in fence and along the edge of Bennan Loch and up easily to the top, recording 292m @ NS 52151 50559. Nice views. I re-traced the route back through the fence gap then headed S then Sw to profile round the steepest area and climb up to the 320m contour continuing Sse on increasingly boggier ground heading for the visitor centre en-route to Blackwood Hill...Dazingdale27/09/2019
No sign of Adrian. After Ballageich Hill. Parked alongside water works fence near South Moorhouse Farm. Resisted the direct line on return, followed the track back.Minto10/07/2019
From South Moorhouse track to reservoir n then to summit.Adrian09/07/2019
Along the track from the Water Works to Lochcraig Reservoir, then to Bennan Loch, climbing through a wide-gapped wire fence just below the summit.summitter24/02/2019
Been up this hill many times from both Ballageich and South Moorhouse sides. Nicest loop in my opinion is to park in layby at Muirshield Bridge to N (no parking signs beyond), then up to Bennan Loch on track and up to summit. Descending WNW to corner of woodland (509517) leads into a short firebreak to a new track through felled woodland. This heads NNE to track marked on OS Maps at 522510, then back through Langlee.quadbarrel11/11/2018
From the Craw Stane along to Bennan Loch and up to Bennan Hill, a great viewpoint. Returned by the same route.Chris Mac04/09/2018
From near Greenfield per agentmarsco, via not quite Ballageich. Gale and driving rain. Pretty reservoirs.Thearlaichdubh24/12/2017
