Followed Clive G's route from Crinan harbour. The track up the hill from NR762915 is obvious but does not head straight up, instead emerging from the forest at NR767917. | ColinW | 20/11/2023 |
From Crinan CP along the track up to the Dun and Creag Mhor, then Cnoc Reamhar & NE top, Barr Ban & Barr Mor. A challenging circuit... | sclater | 15/08/2023 |
Up from Crinan back down to the forest trail and onto the ridge of Creag Mhor. | ARM | 15/08/2023 |
Parked near Gallachoille off road, then up track of sorts most of the way to the ridge in very dry conditions with Jill. | Dugswell2 | 11/06/2023 |
Very limited parking just south of Gallachoille. Up track passed farm sheds and then I went straight on at Jct and along field edge. Started raining and misty. Eventually went up through mature trees and straight up to trig. No views. Came down along ridge and eventually down to muddy track which came to Jct. Glad to see car. 80 mins | Coinneach | 24/05/2023 |
Solo trip from Gallachoille. Glad I wore my wellies. The view was worth it though. | Invicta14 | 25/03/2023 |
From Crinan Harbour as Clive G. With Karen. | ChrisR | 25/07/2022 |
From Gallachoille, where there is a pull in next to a passing place just to the SW. The farm track is good to the track junction and then becomes a quagmire in winter. The track L to the sheepfold (used in descent) is a mess of mud, cow shit and churned up ground either side. The track straight on (used in ascent) to a feeder, down to a stream and up might be better, you can avoid the mud in the bottom of the ditch, then you just walk up the field avoiding the bogs, then through a gate with a bog bridge made of rhododendron branches to join the main track. The track beyond the wall is also wet and muddy but with less cow shit. It's a great relief to reach the grassy spine of the hill, from which the going is very easy to the lovely top. I went to the lochan then up. Fine views. | Gill | 20/01/2022 |
From Crinan Harbour, along the Crinan trail, as Nordic Star. From track junction at 762915, an old forestry track leads up the south side of the stream, then bears left and levels out, then follow the wall up and out of the forest at a bwf. A rough track then follows the N bank of the stream to Bealach na Minehead. Lovely ridge walk then to and beyond the trig. Rejoined Crinan trail and completed loop via Castle Dounie, a good viewpoint, but not as good as the Marilyn. Total 8 miles. | Clive G | 07/08/2021 |
From Garrachoille north on track past farm buildings. At zig-zag bend (768905), turn left on track past sheep fold. It turns west and winds through a field to a gate. From here paths lead WNW onto ridge which can be easily followed to the summit. Fine ridge with excellent views. | Winterfloodian | 29/05/2021 |
2nd of 8 from Crinan. Not the easiest route from Creag Mhor up and down and through bands of forestry then nearer the top an almost alpine meadow feel. Lovely top and a good place to stop for a drink before heading over to Druim an dun.... | Dazingdale | 27/05/2021 |
Self. Vanessa style pillar on the summit | fergie | 19/09/2020 |

Love this hill, Aka Gallachoille Hill, walk up past the barns at Gallachoille, circular trig on the summit. | DavieRuts | 10/02/2019 |
From Gallachoill as others... track continues to animal feeding area then an ATV and finally vague path zig zags up to the ridge. | N.Morters | 26/01/2019 |
From Gallachoill, as others. Mapped farm track to its end, then soggy sheep pasture following the 70m contour to NR 7707 9105; up steeply through conifer woodland; out onto open fell side, whence still steeply up to the top. | jonglew | 02/11/2018 |
From Gallachoille - not sure where I went but managed to find tracks to summit ridge. Some bracken clearance has taken place and there were sheep and cattle near the top. | Chris Peart | 11/08/2018 |
golden eagle flew over to look at me. great views. | Adrian | 09/08/2017 |
2/3. Good views. | PGCE | 05/08/2017 |
From Gallachoille, track then ATV track to almost the summit. Great views and a cloudless sky. | garyhoney | 23/07/2017 |
From Gallachoille, parked a short distance to the south then up the track as far as a bath, then left up and make for the gate behind a red tiled dwelling. There is much more vegetation than shown on maps, but rough tracks penetrate it as far as a delightful summit ridge. Rather more scary were the visions of a writer who once lived across the sound, the more so when on the way down I had to detour around a gate that highland cattle decided to obstruct in a scene that reminded me of Animal Farm. | Topographer57 | 31/05/2017 |
From Gallachoille. Not too difficult apart from fence crossing. Good views. | NormanW | 29/04/2017 |
Up track from the south, then pretty rough going up onto summit ridge. | AndrewFinnimore | 04/08/2016 |
parked near gallachoille track then up through bracken. | robertphillips | 06/09/2015 |
With SG from Crinan. As per Nordicstar/neimcv - when overgrown track curves to left, continued straight up round a couple of fallen trees to a foam protected bw fence crossing. | Smudge | 06/06/2015 |

Revisit. Limited parking near Arinafad Beg; forest road then 300m of boggy plantation to 764902, then open slopes, brackeny in places. Fine summit ridge. | RHW | 22/09/2009 |
From Crinan Harbour start on forest walk, but continue S on forest road for 2.75km. On left is steep overgrown track leading to soggy gulley and the ridge above. Great views to Jura. 10k total. | neimcv | 20/07/2009 |
From Crinan, bit longer but easy access (may be replanted). Sunny, cold wind, very clear and good views. | iangalbraith | 26/09/2007 |
Entrance to Gallachoile Farm. On farm track to a zig zag past outbuilding to col on horizon. Turned right up grassy prow quite steep for part of the way and to top at 10.35. Vanessa 10379. Full length view of Jura from Paps to Barnhill. | arranc | 29/04/2007 |
Up and down from the road in howling gale. | Eddie | 11/03/2004 |
Date is first visit. Notes from later...fine top, superb sea view, ascent messy unless chosen with care. B8025 @ 766895, follow tk to end then rising traverse to summit (1st double back for S top) | RHW | 29/07/2000 |
