Following Beinn Bhan, Beinn Bheileig and Glas Bheinn. Camp in col below summit. | N.Morters | 07/04/2023 |
From Ghlas Beinn. Steeply down then up grassy rakes to w of summit. E over summit, then grassy rakes sw. Contoured round Glas Beinn, then up over e ridge to drop into Gleann Dubh. Found great path high in Gleann, fainter lower down but direct to Proaig. | KeithByTheC | 27/04/2022 |
A great walk from Storakaig, good verge parking. Track to house, then ATV track around house through double gates, across 2 fields and gate to open hill. Interesting route through strange rocky bumps, track mainly dry and grassy to expire in boggy dip below the hill. Good deer tracks lead to a grassy spring line, up this, then even better deer tracks to the ridge. Up to summit ridge, fine views, lots of cairns and vague path. A great hill on a sunny day. | Gill | 03/04/2022 |
With a group of 11 other baggers from RHSoc, 16km linear walk from McArthur's Head to road end near Ardtalla, taking in Beinn na Caillich, Sgorr nam Faoileann, Glas Bheinn & Beinn Bheigier. | Tony J | 02/04/2022 |
From McArthur's Head lighthouse with eleven other hill walkers. Beinn na Caillich, Sgurr nam Faoileann, Glas Bheinn & Beinn Bheigier. Good weather, excellent hills, super day out. (13km, 910m). | ger | 02/04/2022 |
With Dave Roeder - round of the three SE Islay Marilyns on a fine day during the RHS Islay weekend. At 8:05 took the track from Cluanach to the bridge at 306582. Kept low as far as the base of the NW ridge and thence to the summit (10:20) from which cloud had conveniently cleared. Descended to the col and followed the long ridge north over Glas Bheinn (12:00) to the final steep ascent to Sgorr nam Faoileann (13:10). From there, following a long dry spell and with short vegetation elected to descend the W ridge direct to the road at Cattadale; there was a faint path for the last 2k S of a fence. Finished 15:35. Met various other RHS parties doing other variations of the route. Good day. | dbb | 02/04/2022 |
RH Soc Islay meet. | thekirkie pirate | 02/04/2022 |
From the lighthouse drop off via Beinn na Caillich. Headed south to Glas Bheinn. | bolton | 02/04/2022 |
A really fine summit. My vote goes to this hill as the best on Islay. Came up from McArthurs Head via Beinn na Caillich with RHSoc group. Good fun. | Dangerous Dave | 02/04/2022 |
Misty no view | Tonyandsue | 06/09/2021 |
Parked at Cluanach, walked up the vehicle track as far as it went, then headed N on the W slopes of Glas Bheinn, keeping above Lochan Dubh. Then made my way down to the stone wall between GB and SnF and from there pretty much straight up. | paulhilder | 15/08/2021 |
30th Wedding Anniversary walk on a wonderfully sunny and breezy day. Up the track from Kynagarry to a bridge over the Kilennan River. Then pretty much a beeline across heather, grass and marsh to the impressive rocky summit of Beinn Bheigier. Northwards between scree to Am Mam and the multi-summited Glas Bheinn. Plenty of time left and ace conditions so we wandered over to the rounded Beinn na Caillich, affording superb views up the Sound of Islay and over to the Paps of Jura, as well as back to the Marilyn's completed. Deer tracks made contouring to the Sgorr nam Faoileann beallach straightforward, from where it is an easy climb to the top. Back to the road over pathless moorland, joining it near Barr, then a pleasant stroll to the camper van and cold beers. 6.15hrs. | summitter | 11/05/2021 |
Cycled up track from Cluanach then round of BGF. Quick up and down from the south col then reascended to about 350m for better ground on way back to bike. | Topographer57 | 09/06/2019 |
Walked in from Ballygrant to the delightful coastal bothy of An Cladach. Saw an otter with two kits on the coastal section. Slept overnight in the bothy which is highly recommended; someone stayed for a week according to the vistors book. | mindlessflogger | 29/04/2019 |
sun came out, but still very cold | petesimpson | 02/04/2019 |
From Cluanach via Kynagarry and Glas Bheinn. This hill looks good and the view from the big summit cairn is excellent. Rough ground back to main road at Cattadale. | NormanW | 30/08/2018 |
From bend in road between Barr and Cattadale. Notice advising of deer stalking, therefore asking to find an alternative route or call a choice of two numbers. Voicemails on both of them, son I left a message on the mobile. Followed the fence line east, then rough ground to the top but not too bad. Excellent views, felt higher and more mountainy than its modest height suggested. | Owen B | 25/08/2018 |
Second visit, enjoying a view this time. Then a long drop down to An Cladach bothy | Colin Crawford | 26/06/2018 |
Parked at Cluanach and walked to end of track. Crossed footbridge and headed up Beinn Bheiger. Headed north over Glas Bheinn and on to Sgorr nam Faoileann. Returned to track by contouring across rough ground. Followed advice of PGCE below and kept high to avoid worst of the boggy ground. | wozzat | 10/05/2018 |
From Cluanach, to end of track. Then Beinn Bheigier, Glas Bheinn and Sgorr nam Faoileann. Returned to east end of track via a high level route and kept fairly dry feet. | PGCE | 24/04/2018 |
3 Marilyns anticlockwise from Cluanach. Walked track then up to Bheigeir summit and over to Glas Bheinn. Decided to go across to join east ridge via a good animal track and up to summit. Descended via west ridge and took direct line back to minor road at Cattadale. This not recommended due to all the boggy tussocky long grass. Better just head back to join track to Kynagarry, alternatively, though a bit further, continue down to Storokaig. | AndrewFinnimore | 08/08/2017 |
Sgorr nam Faoileann, Glas Bheinn, Beinn Bheigier from bend in minor road to W between Barr and Cattadale. Return fairly directly over rough moorland. Drizzle / rain for much of route. | RobertP | 03/04/2017 |
Circuit of ridges from An Claddach in strong winds and heavy showers. Slippy underfoot, as usual in these parts. | fasgadh | 06/04/2016 |
clockwise round of sgorr nam faoileann, glas bheinn, and beinn bheigier from near barr. | robertphillips | 22/08/2015 |
With Alistair and anne.great day. Look out for the tame deer near the house. The owner feeds it. | tallblond | 18/07/2015 |
In from minor road at Ballygrant over Sgorr nam Faoileann, Glas Bheinn and Beinn Bheigier. Out via track to Cluanaich and road to Bridgend. Stunning bright blue skies - lovely set of hills. | benalder284 | 01/04/2015 |
With: hb; Climbed directly p from bealach for Glas Bheinn. Lovely summit with superb views over Sound of Islay, Jura and the Paps of Jura. Descent down west ridge back to road. | Ian Baines | 23/05/2014 |

With Mora, from minor road at Cattadale | BLACKHILL | 22/04/2014 |
4th hill of traverse from B Bheigier and very fine too. Lovely narrow pointy summit. There is a good track from bealach at 425603 which takes you over the Glas Bheinn shoulder towards Proaig | Thearlaichdubh | 24/06/2013 |

RIB to McArthur's Head then up steps to lighthouse for the Dirty Dozen to then Bagged Beinn Na Cailich before Jen lead us around to bag this top in thick mist. | Dugswell2 | 10/06/2012 |
Fast RIB from Ardbeg with RHB mad bagger group! From McArthurs pt landing Jenx lead us over Beinn na Caillich to contour round to bealach stane and steeps to rough summit. Misty so no views! Mild. | nordicstar | 10/06/2012 |
Landed by RIB at McArthurs head lighthouse. A merry crew of 12 contouring round in the sea fret to find the wall that leads you to the top. | Martin R | 10/06/2012 |
Mad Marhof party. RIB to Mc Arthur's head and up to Beinn na Caillich. To col S of Sgorr nam Faoileann and up grassy and screey slopes to its summit. Back to col and on to Glas Bheinn summit cairn. GPS readings of point about 100m NE of summit cairn show it to be more or less the same height. Finished a good bag with Beinn Bheigier and then down to road end above Claggain Bay. | pwbellarby | 10/06/2012 |

Parked at Storakaig. Past farm buildings, over deer stile steadily up over dry moor to get a view into bealach with hills either side. Up to the left through stony screes and small crags to top at 12.10. 6' tall neatly made cairn on highest rocky bump. to G Bheinn. | arranc | 29/04/2006 |
