From back of hill of fare car park on B993. Forestry work seems to have concluded although signage still up. Route as JulieB.PeteF05/10/2023
A long route from the road to the east (4.5 hours!) Solo.Dangerous Dave03/10/2023
Parked at the quarry car park on the B993. Straight up all the way on the track through the forest. Through a new gate and straight on following a path, which then meets a track to near the summit. A small path leads off to the summit cairn. Returned same way. 4.2 miles. 1hr 45min round trip.JulieB01/10/2023

Quarry CP. Extreme low visibility.10m or less. Lucky to find top. With Bob.Play2End06/05/2023
Tump tour using mountain bikes. Very rough and washed out in places. Approx 16 k and 2050m of ascent. Parked to east on B977 at 743036. Meikle Tap, Greymore, Craigrath, Hill of Fare summit and return. Direct ascent of Greymore on foot from main track - very deep heather.sarahk23/09/2022
From large parking area on B993 at NJ650047, dirt road to S curving SE, straight ahead on footpath where road turns sharply NE after a turning circle, followed path to a high point SW of summit, short narrow path direct to top, return same way (1h35m)kdbennett05/08/2022
Same route as Carole Engel. There are some notices up about fallen trees following storm Arwen however the trees have been cleared from the tracks and it was a pleasant walk on a path all the way to the summit after working in Aberdeen. Solo.assynt_bob02/06/2022
From quarry at NJ650047 as per Walkhighlands guide.JGC02/05/2022
Lots of private land and no parking signs at the two entrances to Raemoir House so we parked on the verge along the minor road to the ruined shell of Cluny Crichton Castle. Walked up the road to Burnhead, where a track in front of the house gives good access to Craigbeg then on to Craigarth. Continued along good track to Hill of Fare, doubling back to a junction where a steadily rising track leads to Greymore then on to Meikle Tap. Headed home along a path then forest track through the forest around Burn of Corrichie, but a rash of fallen trees demanded detours off the early sections of the path ... be warned, there are many arboreal barriers! Brown Hill and Marie Hill were easily contoured, then to avoid Raemoir House itself we cut across a higher sheep field to regain the track south of Craigbeg. A very sunny day with very icy paths, that took around 5 hours all told.summitter09/01/2022
1/3 for the day alongwith Craigrath and Greymore.JasonStark23/10/2021
From good parking NJ 650048. Track/path to top, with feint path NJ 6713 0286 to summit.carole engel12/08/2021
Made mistake of driving all way up to the Raemoir hotel and asking for permission ,as well as offering to pay to use their car park , and being given a snooty No. Moved to next gate down on the road where there was parking for around 4 cars. Abundant wild blueberries on the walk upmazz04/08/2021
parked at top of Learney hill in car park and followed obvious path to top . very misty on top and path very wet and boggy once out of the forest . With B.slynch12/11/2020
Paked at a farm house further west that the normal Raemoir House spot (permission sought). Up through forest then west on track of flattened heather to Hill of Corfeidly then on to proper track to Hill of Fare, then headed East over the heather / gorse to Tornamean. Headed South from here over the heather agin to a cabin at a 3way split, continued south to the flattened heather track I started from and then down through the forest. Weather was mostly dry with very little windAl_N30/06/2020

Parked at the PT 298m CP then track, heath path, track to 100m from summit. Surprised to see 15 people there. My 500th Marilyn!garyhoney06/08/2019
From large parking area, near pt298 on B993, NJ650047. Track SSE, then SE through forest (not marked on 50K map) until peaty path up NW ridge. Where this levels off, do not take the thin path going straight on - this dead ends at a pointless pile of stones and you'll have 500m of heather to flog through. Keep to the track, L, aiming for Tornamean - it will turn R towards the top. Last 100m is over tough heather, a tall small cairn peeps just above the heather. Watch out for the pools of carnivorous green slime - their normal fayre is ewes, but I have seen one with just the hind quarter of a cow sticking out above the slime - so they're not picky about what they take on.Isbjorn27/05/2019

As Coinneach, easy route.Lionel Bidwell20/04/2018
From CP off B993 near point 298 - good track (road) initially SSE through forest, then little path through heather which eventually joins a good track.ger18/04/2018
Parked at car park at Pt 298 and followed forest road to east side of forest then up path to summit cairn. Much easier than expected.Coinneach21/03/2018
From Dunswell. Would have been easier to use the new forest track from the 298m spot height: this leads directly to the east end of the forest and a path through the heather to the summit area. 4th of 6 today: Cairn William, Bennachie, Millstone Hill, Hill of Fare, Benaquhallie, Craiglich.PGCE22/02/2018
From Dunswell. There is now a huge area of hard standing near the start of the track, so I parked there. Clear track at first, but the mapped continuation is gone, so a bit of casting around to find the route, but the woods are lovely and the going is easy. Eventually join an old ATV track (not coinciding with the mapped track), overgrown but OK, to an old gate, then on a path to meet a logging road and turning area. On through a gateless gateway to a peaty path, a right pain today, because covered in ice and hard going. It gets you up the hill though, joining an ATV track going close to the summit, which is reached by a nasty heather bash with hidden tussocks. Not the best of the hills round here, but excellent views, especially in the setting sun.Gill01/01/2018
2 of 4: From B993 CP at 650048ChrisR12/09/2017
Parked in a small space at the beginning of the rough track to Dunswell and then following the track itself on foot. When I reached an area that had been used for gravel extraction I left the track and made my way up the heathery slope until I reached a clear path which I followed all the way to where the small summit Cairn came into view at which point I walked over a path less area to the summit. Good views, particularly Bennachie and the heather which covers this hill was all in flower and looked lovely. Reverse to return.Peterb16/08/2017
Up the tracks from Raemoir Hotel. Very pleasant walk apart from the thunderstorm coming down.Minto03/06/2017
Parked at the entrance to Raemoir at 687993. Room for 3/4 cars. Followed the good track to the summit . Just under 9 miles and 2 hour 50 minutes solo walk. Showers both up and down.bolton03/06/2017
From Raemoir. Tracks up Craigrath then continued on excellent tracks moorland over to summit. Stunning sunny evening.N.Morters06/04/2017
Solo trip from Raemoir. Pleasant enough on the lower slopes, but heavy going on the summit plateau as last night's snowmelt filled all the rutted tracks with water.Invicta1425/02/2017
Climbed from parking area on B993, near Tillenturk with kids on snowy day.mcbboyd29/01/2017
Parked at track end leading to Dunswell. If I repeat, I will use the following route to ascend. Follow track from Dunswell marked on 1:25k map which becomes faint as it enters trees. The track emerges from the trees and then skirts the boundary fence (to the south) of another copse. At this point the track becomes very overgrown. Where the track crosses the copse boundary fence, continue along the fence line. This may involve some bracken bashing for a short distance, after which the going is easier. Continue to a makeshift wooden gate/fence. Climb over the gate and rejoin the track, now heading north east to reach a forestry vehicle turning circle. Turn south east and you will find a path through the heather which ascends the ridge line to the summit (this path is to the north of the one marked on the 1:25k map). At one point the path traverses the ridge, but stick with it and it will soon turn back up the ridge after which the route to the summit is obvious.raffemeister29/09/2016

A lot of useful mountain bike tracks from the north. Top was a bit dismal in the mist, but good to finish section 21.jenx23/01/2016
The Dunswell tracks, needs a bit of planning, drivable track through woods... Bit scraggy on top, not the best of Aberdeenshire hills.nordicstar23/01/2016

Up the track from the Raemoir hotel to the south which voted over Craigrath before continuing west and north to near the summit. Then hoofed it across the moorland on frustratingly hard work heather to the Tornamean trig S5602 and even harder with terrain with spongy tussocky deep heather, southward to regain a track.vegibagger19/10/2015
in the dark from dunswell tracks to out of woods then path to the top.robertphillips03/12/2014
