Straight up from Towie Glenvegibagger31/08/2022
From Dwarfie Hamars Knap. Solo. Descended by the north ridge above Trowie Glen. Very rough ground between the hill and the road.Dangerous Dave06/08/2022
Second visit collecting surrounding Tumps. Going okay on the Marilyn but dreadful on the TumpsColin Crawford03/08/2022
Dwarfie Stane car park. Followed this track and then cut off over rough terrain before picking up a faint path and animal tracks on the east side of the Trowie Glen. It gets easier higher up. Just over 2 hour return. Clear skies, lovely day. Solo.bolton02/05/2022
After Cuilags and Ward Hill, cycled around to road to Rackwick and ascended from the north.Topographer5720/08/2021
West side of stream very soft deep moss...very hard work. Better on East side..firmer and a few tracks to aid progressiainwalton31/07/2021
From Ward Hill, walked up the west side of Trowie Glen, very rough at first but then a path(of sorts) goes up the initial steep bit, once over that it's a straightforward ascent to the summit, returned via the same route to the road we considered the ridge but had to get back for the ferry, then around the road to the ferry at Moaness.JulieB08/09/2020
Up broad north ridge to west of Trowie Glen. Very rough from minor road to the South Burn, then easy going, with steepish section following faint path in initial phase. KeithByTheC08/09/2020
3 of 3: From Ward Hill. Karen waited at the Dwarfie Stane CP. I headed for the boulder disguised as a croft. Then round and up the east side of Trowie Glen. At the top in 67 mins. Back down on the west side of Trowie Glen. Easy on the high ground, bad on the lower ground. Rejoined Karen and along the road for the 4.30pm ferry.ChrisR06/08/2020
Following Cuilags and Ward Hill. Up from Dwarfie Stane, very steep then eases to summit.N.Morters24/08/2019
From the Dwarfie Stone. Quite hard going over rough ground, but lots of Boxie and hare to keep us distracted from the trudge.summitter23/07/2019
From North up rough ground to west of Trowie Glen. Trig and HP, with good views. Back down same way as no time to do the other tump. No Bonxies on this route today.PeterD28/06/2019
Path from car park to Dwarfie Stane then steeply SW up onto ridge, avoiding cliffs. Round ridge onto summit, (looking out for attacking Great Skuas near the lochans!) Descent down NNW ridge dto the road.Winterfloodian02/06/2019
Not much time between morning and afternoon ferries in the winter, so bagged Cuilags and Ward Hill, then drove round to a parking spot opposite Trowie Glen. Very unpleasant ground crossing over the valley to the ridge on the W side of Trowie Glen, then spongy stuff to get onto the main ridge up the hill. Snowy owl seen here. Much better ground once out of the valley, grassy, stony, so easy going to the pleasant summit.Gill22/02/2019
Roadside parking (HY 2364 0069). Dwarfie Hamars first then across to here. Descended in almost a direct line to car.jonglew22/02/2019
Sea Eagles nesting on crags above Dwarfie Stane. Up and down by Trowie Glen at RSPB request. Faint path on E side.PeteN09/08/2018
Circuit of glen up East side to Marilyn then back via the Tump, Dwarfie Hamars Knap.back down to Moaness and early lunch in the Beneth'ill cafe.NormanW13/06/2018
Solo HFB12/07/2017
Up steep slope from Dwarfie Stone and across plateau protecting myself from aggressive Skuas by waving my poles! Easy ground higher up but nasty spongy moss and tussocks on the lower slopes. Back down to the glen and across to Cuilags.AndrewFinnimore10/06/2017
Horseshoe of Trowie Glen, up E side & down W, E side probably easier.Chris Peart27/06/2016
Great walk around Hoy. Passenger ferry then to the Dwarfie Stane. Contoured around the hill to SW and up Trowie Glen. Simple and some excited Bonxies. Down to Randwick after then back over the other two Marilyns to the ferry.nordicstar11/06/2016
Good circular walk from ferry. Took about 7 hours with some good stops. Enjoyed Rackwick bay.jenx11/06/2016
Boggy start from glen about 1.5 km towards Rackwick from Dwarfie Stane. Climbed in thick cold mist and fell thigh deep into bog about 50m from car on way back!Campbell Singer03/04/2015
Descended from Ward Hill to the road below fence corner at HY23637 00666 – Dropped down and across rough area before picking up faint path on E. side of Trowie Glen – Up NE slopes to summit of Knap of Trowieglen. (S)gerrybowes23/09/2014
Reached the top at the same time as John Mackay and Bob Taylor. John had booked a taxi to the Dwarfie Stane which meant that I then had the time to walk down the west coast as far as The Berry.Alex C06/06/2014
Bagged the TuMP first before this Marilyn with Jim Bloomer and Tricky Speirs.Dugswell230/05/2014
Parked at HY23220 00428. Rough going at first, easier higher up. Surprised to realise that mainland looked so near. Good views over Scapa Flow.Martin R15/05/2012
Purgatorial lank grass and bog up the S side of Trowie Glen. A little less bad ground descending the N side.Eddie16/08/2011
Revisit. Summit rather flat but with fine views. From NNW - rough deep heather initially but easier as height is gained. Some mild Bonxie activity en route, and Arctic Bearberry and the ubiquitous Least Willow at the summit.RHW03/06/2010
Parked at the car park for the Dwarfie Stone. After looking ta he stone ascended via Trowie Glen in steady drizzle and low cloud. So no view at the top.garyhoney24/06/2005

Date is first visit. Notes from later...see log on TrigpointingUK.com. RHW02/08/2002
Parked in passing place on Rackwick road. Over dryish blanket swamp over stream steadily uphill onto less wet ground over many false summits. Hares. Plovers. To trig and cairnlet at 14.40.arranc06/06/2002
Parked at Dwarfie Stone CP, and used that path. Then up east side of Trowie Glen, and across moor to the Knap.Minto21/07/1998
